I don’t think Catherine’s meant to be mid 50’s is she? I thought she was around 47, is she playing that much older?

Tommy knew too much about Darius and in his rant about going after Catherine proved that he was a liability for Darius. Possibly before that Darius thought he could be useful and springing him from jail was meant to be a thank you for taking the wrap for Darius. He was never going to Marbella though.

What did Becky say when she appeared to Catherine by the graveside?

Catherine was 47 in the first series, so she's mid 50's this one.

If Becky were live she'd be around 34, so yeah Catherine is mid to late 50s.

Much too tidy, it was almost as if SW was too tired to do anything more.

And of course, Clare and 'Saint' Catherine reconciled. But what a testament to the performance from Siobhan Finneran because I was willing meek Clare to do the impossible and tell her martyr of a sister that she was out of order last week with the way she spoke to her. Catherine is one of those people that in real life people are terrified to stand up to, someone who's never had to hear anyone close to her say 'You're nothing special - you're just as fucked as everyone else'.

I wonder if SW is a big believer in the afterlife? Becky's spirit and Alan's in Last Tango when his heart stops and Celia sees him in her flat but he's actually in hospital (which she doesn't know about)

Sarah Lancashire was born in 1964 making her 58 at the moment.

I loved how Tommy was the one to undo the drugs empire in the end. That his life ended but he could do some good before he died. Not only by killing the three in the car and telling the police about Darius but also by killing Darius’ own brother.

To be fair, @Southeastdweller, I think Catherine absolutely was 'something special'. What a woman 🙌

I thought the ending was great! Catherine and TLR and Ryan is what it's all about, and that's what we got. So many nice little touches: "What's going to happen to those two little girls?" "There's a grandmother".

I'm still not too sure about TLR having a "lightbulb" moment.

I suppose knowing that Marbella wasn't going to happen he knew he had nothing to offer Ryan?

I quite liked the parallel between Faisal & TLR though.

Different upbringings-both driven to becoming involved with drugs & committing murder.

I didn't see this mentioned on the last thread. People were asking why it took so long for the police to arrive at the end. Halifax to Hebden Bridge or Elland takes 15 to 20 minutes. Had people forgotten that the local cop shop was gone?

I believe there'd have been a ramped up police presence as soon as they knew TLR was still in the area (this was mentioned when they knew he had mentioned to Ryan about leaving with him). He was a category A escaped prisoner already serving a sentence for murdering a police officer and had attacked and tried to kill another one who he had a vendetta against and he also knew where she lived.
No way would the police have been 15 minutes away with him on the loose.
