I’ll start it then.

Will he return to heap more misery on Scarlet?

LIZS it is a strange waste of Al episode. No medical issues happening.

And of courseOlly is AWOL. That was obvious from the start- he never wanted to go!

Raahh · 01/03/2023 14:08

Why didn't he tell you, Kirsty? You really have to ask.

LIZS · 01/03/2023 14:08

So he is awol and injured cos he could not stick it out for six weeks!

Raahh · 01/03/2023 14:09

He must have been desperate to injure himself.

So now Rich won't leave. Kirsty won't get the house to herself.

Raahh · 01/03/2023 14:10

So she was messing him about.

LIZS · 01/03/2023 14:11

Surely Olly would be happy to get away from them!

Raahh · 01/03/2023 14:13

So she's getting a job for her son??! Just like that?

She's trouble, Nina.

Raahh · 01/03/2023 14:13

I think if I was Olly, I would be happy to leave- but I get the feeling the army was never 100% his idea.

martinisforeveryone · 01/03/2023 14:37

The last couple of days have me seriously questioning what I'm doing with my life watching this, apart from partnering it with my lunch and chatting here 😁

I didn't see yesterday's episode as quite so problematic as others have judged it. I saw it as a cack handed attempt at showing up blokes like the 'seduction guru' for exactly what they are, with Scarlett calling him sad and lonely and not agreeing to a date even though she knew it was all because of an outside influence. It was the Doctors' script writers' effort at putting that type of behaviour down and showing it doesn't work as they think it will. I saw it as critical and judgemental, in the right way of course. I hope I've explained that properly.

Unfortunately as with today's story of Olly finding out about his parents' split and running away from the army, it wasn't well handled. If anything I found this storyline worse. It came across as akin to a teenager not getting on with the transition to high school. I don't find them at all believable as a family either.

I know we don't watch Doctors for quality writing and performances, but honestly, the plot lines and the new additions of Kirsty plus Nina being almost impossible to listen to, are testing my patience to the very last smidgeon.

KilledByWitches · 01/03/2023 17:54

Had to take MIL for a hospital appointment so missed today. Gathering from your comments I've not missed anything then.

JustDanceAddict · 01/03/2023 18:00

Just watched todays - was dreadful. Couldn’t care less about dead(?) author, Nina and Kirsten both awful characters. Shame as I caught Kirsty actor being interviewed on Morning Live (ok I watched it on catch up to see what she’s like IRL - so engaging & normal! - she plays Kirsty badly).

Raahh · 01/03/2023 18:11

Just I don't think they have done 'Kirsty' any favours with the accent- or Wendi/Nina either. They both sound ludicrous and make them act even worse.

I wouldn't really be sorry to see the back of either of them at this point- and 'Nina' has hardly been in it!

martinisforeveryone · 01/03/2023 18:41

I didn't even go there with Al's storyline today. Just ridiculous.

mattyd · 01/03/2023 20:25

I didn't see Karen in those pictures at the beginning, did I miss her or is her new look particularly unphotogenic?

TheFifthTellytubby · 01/03/2023 22:25

Raahh · 01/03/2023 14:13

So she's getting a job for her son??! Just like that?

She's trouble, Nina.

Maybe the son was the new face in the credits at the start of the rearranged episode (the one about the couple throwing a farewell party before leaving for Switzerland)? I don't think Nina was also there, though, so perhaps she's just a vehicle for introducing a new GP and might leave once the son is installed. We can but hope...

Raahh · 02/03/2023 07:03

TheFifth I think you are right about the son- because

SPOILERS

(I know most people on here aren't fussed about spoilers, but you never know).

for anyone who doesn't want to know- her son is called Suni and will appear next week. I'm hoping he is a better character than his 'mother'.

Not sure why he ended up in the credits before her though. Confused

Raahh · 02/03/2023 07:10

So yes, with a bit of luck, she's not a permanent fixture.

So far we've been given the impression she is a long term character- but maybe not?

I'm still not sure (when they didn't have any money not so long back, and didtched plot device Sutton Vale) how the Mill will be in a position for another GP for no patients. And surely someone who Zara met in a bathroom, and really barely knows, can't just hire staff at will?!
Doesn't Bear- the practice manager- get a say?

JustDanceAddict · 02/03/2023 08:50

Another accent musing - surely Kirsty could use her own Aussie accent. The actress has been here since her mid-20s - why couidn’t the character have too? Her RL DH is a Londoner she said so well within realms of possibility for her to have met Rich in uk etc.
As for Wendi Peters, wtf! Badly put-on accents make for charicatures not ‘real’ people!!

Raahh · 02/03/2023 09:18

Just There really is no reason for Kirsty to have the bad accent, or for her not to use her own. It brings nothing to the character- and since over the years very few of the cast have been Brummies anyway, I'm not sure why they had to force her to 'be' one.

And 'Nina's' accent is just bizarre.
Whether it is supposed to make sure we know she is playing a 'professional' and to distance her from Cilla, I'm not sure. It's really distracting. I might be able to warm to the character more if she ditched it.
There are actors who can 'do' accents and you would never know that they were putting one on. If it sticks out like a sore thumb- it's not working.

JustDanceAddict · 02/03/2023 10:17

Yes, @Raahh - Mrs Tembe did a good accent - ironically she’s a brummie!

Raahh · 02/03/2023 10:29

Just Grin I know- bit ironic, that!

Maybe Nina will tone it down, maybe once she's 'in' at the Mill and hopefully drops the 'superior than everyone else' act.

Raahh · 02/03/2023 10:31

All the episodes are very out of sync now.

I like to read the BBC site synopsis bits and read 'ahead'.

There is a St David's day episode now scheduled for March 15th. Grin

Binglebong · 02/03/2023 13:48

I'm about 1 minute behind today.

KilledByWitches · 02/03/2023 13:49

Wy does Nina shove her chin forward when she speaks?

KilledByWitches · 02/03/2023 13:52

Oh FGS you stupid woman you cant just walk out of the bloody army.
