Does Darius know what TLR is saying to Ryan?
He's already told Ryan that he wants the pair of them to go Spain.

Love it, it’s such good scriptwriting! SW is a genius.

I feel sorry for Clare. I don’t agree with what she did but I think with her work at the Mission and being an ex addict, she sees the best in people and AA say about making amends to those hurt. She’s the light to Catherine’s dark. Catherine who has experienced complex trauma in her personal (Becky being raped and killing herself) and her professional (seeing the effects of drugs, Kristen being murdered, the abuse of prostitutes) life. I think she’s broken and burnt out.

Ryan I feel desperately sorry for. You could see why he could end up being taken in by TLR. His Granny struggles with giving him affection, he was estranged from his grandad and Uncle for a long time and then when he really needed his Grandad, he buggered off to meet Darius. I remember in one series TLR saying to Ryan “We’re both misfits”.

TLR I’d be surprised if he gets to Spain. His life experience is so narrow and Darius has got what he wants from him. He’s now a liability. Hopefully the old guy does for him.

A lot to wrap up next week but I wonder if we’ll be left to fill in some of the blanks ourselves.

Other thoughts - TLR came across as quite vulnerable in a few instances last night.
When Beetroot Man kept him waiting then finally showed up and opened the door, TLR stood there, unsure for a bit and asked “Am I coming in?”
Also in the Ryan/TLR chat scenes, it felt like Ryan was being super careful and very guarded with his answers. In fact, he swayed away from answering altogether and instead, asked TLR the questions.
When TLR was talking, it felt like he was like a little kid, desperately wanting to impress Ryan.

I think he is one of those men who bullies and hurts women but is scared shitless of other men.

Maybe Joyce will turn out to be the crime boss of Happy Valley.

I really hope we have a happy ending. Or at least not a bloody awful one. Catherine has been looking forward to her retirement all series, that’s usually the death knell for police officers.
Im rooting for Catherine killing TLR and driving off in her landy with Ryan and Alison.
Beetroot stains are a bugger to get out of wooden chopping boards btw.

In the van Darius was talking to TLR about him taking Ryan to Spain, he said if he didn't get him by Monday TLR would have to go on his own.
I do reckon the old bloke cutting beetroot is going to pivotal somehow.

b) find out why Poppy doesn't take her coat off.and see her drop Neckbeard right in the merde

i wonder about the mobile phone message TRL got when he first turned it on with reference to coop or spar- wondered if that was Neil giving him the phone suddenly as he’d not had one that we know of before.
Also thought when CC didn’t respond to Ryan with any feeling when he said I love you granny. TLR said via video game he loved him- has that swayed Ryan’s idea of what love is and his allegiance?

Ey oop - I'm hoping that our Ryan sees sense and says something to granny about TLR communicating with him and revenge is on the cards for the goodies.

So will poppy let her dad go down for murder? I think there'll come a point in the final episode where she'll say something significant

That “Am I coming in?” was so extraordinary and unfathomable. I’d like to think it spoke of respect for strangers, and elders, and peoples homes …

But mostly it made me think SW must be a Buffy fan. It reminded me so much of vampires needing an invitation to cross the threshold.

I think Ryan knows he's well loved by his granny - all her actions say so. Actions speak louder than words. TRL is a good love bomber and I suspect Ryan is getting the measure of him and treading on eggshells very carefully.

Trying to untangle the Knezevics thing in my mind:

1. In series 1 we hear from Ashley about the guy they've killed because he annoyed them, whose body is then found at the start of series 3.
2. At the start of this series, TLR is linked to this body by the St Christopher and other stuff I now can't remember - but enough to charge him.
3. We hear that the K's are angry with him inside and have tried to kill him - I don't think we are told why?
4. Darius K is standing for election so this would be a spectacularly bad time to be lined up for murder.
5. TLR pleads guilty but falsely implicates the wrong murderer which is a favour to Darius K.
6. There is communication in some way between the Ks and TLR in prison - we know there is a dodgy prison guard so maybe he facilitates more than the bum phone.
7. TLR is probably safer dead than alive so far as Darius K is concerned, and definitely safer in Spain well away from the police who might get information out of him.
8. I reckon he collected him to get as much information out of him as he could. He was meant to stay with the brothers (theirs is the flat in Elland that is now being watched) but I think he'd always have wanted contact with TLR early doors to check out what state of mind he was in.
9. Darius K does NOT want TLR to kill a police officer and bring attention to him in any way, so the pendulum has now swung firmly to him being better dead than in Spain.
10. TLR does not realise this at all. Nor does he think beetroot man is anything to worry about at this point.
11. I think TLR will realise he's in danger, kill beetroot man (who perhaps tries to kill him first) and head to find Ryan.

As it’s not real life I can say this, but I really hope Rob not Faisal goes down for Joanna’s murder

I know right. That’s why it stuck with me. It was just so out of character, so unlike his usual cocky arrogant self, to pause by the doorway and ask that before entering.

I like to think he knows Beetroot Man is not one to be messed with 😁
