Also, sidenote, no self respecting MAMIL would lay their bike down on its right hand side
True...as I teach the kids I coach, if you must lie your bike on the ground then it has to be "sunny side up" ie the "sun" (aka chainring/s!) facing the sky.
It's obviously further evidence that TLR is a cyclopath...
(Sorry, I'll get my coat.)

Oh well done 👏😂

KangarooKenny · 30/01/2023 15:55

Neil has to have something to do with it. The way TLR spoke to him in prison shows they have history.

ilovebrie8 · 30/01/2023 15:56

This thread is entertainment alone...will miss it when this all ends...absolutely no clue how this will conclude....hoping it's a positive end but who knows 😛. I don't think the K's sprung him out just to kill him if that was the case they could have bumped him off there and then when he got in the back of the van, Darius had a bottle of whisky waiting for Tommy to toast his release. I don't think the old guy is a psycho probably just not happy putting up TLR in his home....it was a bit of a hovel though!

Righto. Have rewatched now.
Darius laughing at TLR saying he’d never been abroad REALLY hit a nerve didn’t it.
Think he genuinely is not sold on the idea and it made him feel edgy and out of his comfort zone.
Watching it last night reminded me of a conversation between Catherine and Clare, I think way back in S1, when they knew TLR had been released but didn’t know his whereabouts.
Clare said something like he might even be around in the area but Catherine retorted that “He’s the sort who thinks Manchester is abroad, he wouldn’t know how to be anywhere else”.
The exchange really stuck out for me because Catherine then went on to say he’s like a rat, he’ll never be more than 3 feet away… then the scene changes to our first sighting of TLR lifting bags of sand at Ashley’s farm.

Another brilliant bit last night echoing S1 ...

Perhaps Joyce has booked the function room for Catherine's leaving do right next to Tweedledum's wedding reception and there's a great big Tarantino-style splatterfest ending? Coppers vs. EuroGangsters; no-one left alive except Alison, who runs off with the £40 000 and the cold meats' platter.

I think it's very likely that Catherine is going to have to rescue TLR and Ryan from whatever Darius's idea of 'going to Marbella' turns out to be. He's told TLR they will be concealed in a vehicle but is he going to just torch it or have it pushed into a reservoir?

Still can't believe no-one is at all concerned about Ann and Daniel in that isolated cottage.

Still can't believe that 'holing up at Nev's' is the official plan.

I think Florence's coping mechanism was to block out her parents' abusive relationship whereas Poppy was painfully attuned to every moment.

I do like Catherine (although she can make it hard) but I really winced when she threw the cordon tape at the officer who had already accused her of racist bullying, even if he is a dopey knob.

KangarooKenny · 30/01/2023 16:01

Did anyone else notice this ? When the dad and kids came back from school and Joanna was missing, Faizal’s brown suede jacket was hanging up and the kid in the coat looked at it.

Catherine is a complete bitch sometimes, a boring martyr too. At what point do you stop carrying people (with the exception of her grandson) and focus on your own self care and needs? She reminds me of a relative of mine - incapable of looking at her own role in how she and her loved ones are feeling. Too busy blaming other people because it’s ALWAYS other people’s fault.

Yes and as long as everyone is doing what she says everything is fine but have a different perspective as to how things should happen and she goes into demon mode.

Oooh, no. I remember Poppy looking at something, but couldn't work out what it was that had caught her eye.

JaneJeffer · 30/01/2023 16:05

Was I hearing things or did Darius tell TLR the "lad" would let him in to the house? I wasn't expecting Beetroot!

I saw she looked at something but have the observational skills of a rock. That kid is Pfizer's doom.

Marking my place and will now go and catch up on the previous musings...

Is it Sunday yet?! This is going to be the longest week!!

PissedUpLightweightEmptyHeadedNooNoo · 30/01/2023 16:11

Name changed in honour of the final series Grin

The hotel that Richard went to meet Darius in, is the one the cast actually stayed in sometimes when filming

Holing up at Nev's makes perfect sense if you go with my Nev is the Kingpin of Crime theory. The K's will deliver TLR to him. Nev will have his vengeance.

Or it's a bad idea but exactly what people in situations they have no preparation for just do.

Overall I'm not seeing a happy ending in the valley.

EsmaCannonball · 30/01/2023 16:14

I'm another one who likes Clare. Although her betrayal of Catherine this series was truly awful, it was through stupidity, not malice. We're often told how much Catherine has done for Clare but we've seen Clare supporting Catherine a lot over the years. All the 'homeliness' in Catherine and Ryan's lives came from Clare. One of Catherine's lowest points came in the first series, when Clare pulled her up on the way she was treating Ryan and Catherine reminded her that their home was her house and told her to start looking for somewhere else to live. Ok, they obviously made up but I didn't like the way that Catherine was prepared to use the threat of homelessness to keep Clare in her place. Talk about a controlling relationship.

I did think that Nev could have paid the Knezevics to spring TLR just so he could get his revenge, but I don't actually think that's the case.

LifesABotch · 30/01/2023 16:18

Found the end of this episode extremely tense and stressful! The acting is so extraordinarily good! Adore Sarah Lancashire, of course, and something has felt slightly 'off' this series, which doesn't make sense as she is wonderful...
Wondering if anyone else has noticed, and could it be due to lip filler?

LifesABotch · 30/01/2023 16:20

Oh, and I also like Claire, and the scene with her and Catherine was very sad for both of them Sad. Can't blame Catherine at all, though!

martinisforeveryone · 30/01/2023 16:22

Still can't work out why Darius gives a rats arse about TLR. He gave some fake evidence to the police to implicate a gangland rival - useful. But hardly a service that gets you a new life at great risk to the OCG.

I just didn't get Darius's character last night, or the fact that he went himself to collect TLR and the bike. It seemed highly unlikely for him to risk any connection and he didn't come across as the Mr Big either, he was too chummy and too compliant with TLR.

What is the real pull between them? why would Darius feel compelled to arrange so much for someone who was ostensibly a bit of muscle when he was back on Ashley's caravan site? I know he helped with the body in the reservoir, but I really thought he was no more than some cheap and expendable thug.

Like a PP on the last thread I'm also wondering if 'the policewoman' TLR wants revenge on, is actually Ann, who escaped and rescued Catherine and gave evidence that ultimately took him down.

I think Ryan will set TLR up and in the finale, somehow Clare will be killed protecting Catherine, or Ryan or both. It'll all have a deep meaning about what true love looks like.

There could then be a spin off centred on Ann, Daniel and Ryan, with Nev in background support.Ann could rise through the police and Ryan could go either way 👌I thought Charlie Murphy was outstanding last night. What else has she been in?

No idea where the other storyline's going to end up. I know Faisal's potentially fallen foul of the OCG on top of the murder, but it almost feels a bit too manipulated to me, especially with Richard wanting to interview Darius. After everything that family continues to go through he's pushing his luck with that one. It feels too contrived to tie connections together. Hope I'm wrong and there's a clever reveal.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 30/01/2023 16:23

Or he has a hold over Darius, as TLR knows who owned the necklace with the chunk missing, that was found in the lake.

AntonDuPig · 30/01/2023 16:26

I can’t find it in my heart to hate Clare, even though that was the ultimate betrayal.
I think she was genuinely broken between her loyalty to Catherine and her love for Ryan.

I think Claire was talked into it by Neil. He will turn out to have been put there by TLR.
