Oh, it was. Spot on. LOD was a lot of fun, but was trashy by comparison. Real drama is surely where you believe in the characters as real people.

So in the promo picture there is a building on fire. Am thinking TLR set this as we know he does love setting stuff ablaze and that it’s Nev’s house, so TLR finds them. Maybe Nev gets his revenge?

Which is what makes me think that TLR is higher up in the chain than we are led to believe so it was TLR planning his own escape and Darius helped him as his equal/minion. But who knows! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

Isn’t it more likely to be Catherine’s house on fire? Certainly set alight by TLR - unfortunately killing Alison, who as we know, comes and goes from that house and might well have gone there to guard it out of loyalty to Catherine.

If so, and Nev gets charged with murder, I hope he pulls the "Saunders-Guinness Defence" ("I'm just a harmless ole bloke wi' dementia. I don't know nowt. Lookit me. Is sad - I'll never get better, wot wi' me dementia. Ye' can't lock up an ole bloke wi' dementia"), gets off with it, and then has a remarkable recovery, becoming only the second person in the history of the world to get better from dementia.

I think there's too much to tie up in this last episode and I'm preparing for disappointment. Last week's episode was a bit of a none one. I was hoping for a huge cliffhanger before the finale.

One of the things I loved about The Wire was that it tended to do all the big moments in the penultimate episode of each series so the final episode really got to explore the aftermath for the characters. It does feel like there's a lot to resolve and wrap up in this episode. With the later series of Line of Duty a lot of the fan theories about what might happen were more exciting, intelligent and satisfying than the actual storyline. Ted being secretive about his laptop because he had been watching porn was particularly lame.

Lots of shows have gone with that 'the big dramas in the penultimate ep' idea, I think Broadchurch was another IIRC. But too late for that here!

I've been having problems with the MN threads I'm watching or on for a while now. Very very slow to load the page and even longer to jump to a bookmarked post. I used to have all posts at once enabled and have had to change to 25 posts per page and for a short while to have new posts first, although I've reversed that again now. Don't know if that'll help you?
