It’s a fantastic detail, agree.

I expect that like me Catherine had parents who’d automatically correct bad grammar. I say to friends “would HAVE” when they say “would OF”, it’s one of my bugbears, and now they tend to correct themselves in my presence, so it does work. I BLAME THE PARENTS for “would/could/should OF”. When people like me and CC die, could OF will become standard English and I worry about that.

I’m really worried that Ryan will be tempted to team up with TLR. From his perspective (and whatever Catherine’s true feelings):

He’s never been told he’s loved by C
He’s asked what he’ll do if Catherine leaves and she’s fobbed him off
He’s asked to go with C to the Himalayas and she’s fobbed him off again
Ann laid out that he’s wasn’t wanted and He’s been 16 years of trouble for the whole family
Clear that Claire and Neil can’t take him on

I just don’t know if he’ll make the right choice.

And I reckon Darius picked him up and spun him the Spain plan to make him feel special. To keep him quiet and holed up. Darius has got other plans for him.

Oooooohhhh!!! What if Darius will ‘catch’ TLR and ‘save’ Ryan, thus becoming a local hero and boost his local MP bid or whatever he’s running for.

I know we have all said it but it feels as though there should be more episodes left.

Yes, that's it. I don't recall either of my parents saying "I love you" to me (or one another!) but I certainly felt loved. I only noticed this when I heard my friend's mum say "Love you!" when she dropped us off somewhere.

Did anyone else think it was strange that Darius drove off before he had seen Tommy go into the house. Did he know no-one was in? Eg Beetroot’s car was not outside? Seemed odd to me and high risk to leave him
floating about on the street.

A Tommy/Ryan moment that stood out for me was when TLR clocked Ryan was in court. He looked happy to the point of giddiness. Almost coy. I think JN is brilliant in this role. Agree that TLR thinks he loves his son but he is probably incapable of that kind of emotion.

Also agree with a PP that season 1 TLR is my fave aesthetic for the beautiful JN. The MAMIL look didn’t do it for me at all sadly but I drive those hills regularly and will never overtake a cyclist now without thinking of TLR/JN so happy days indeed.

The current floppy hair does look way too middle class for the character, I now get why SW has had TLR with more extreme hair do’s previously.

I think Darius did it on purpose to unsettle him a bit. Darius was not happy with the chat about getting a gun or phoning him.

I thought that was deliberate to freak TLR out a bit and make it clear that he is at Darius's mercy. I assumed Beetroot Man was waiting round the corner and Darious gave him the nod as he drove past, leaving it just long enough to stress TLR out.

Tommy told Ryan you're all I've got which I think was a mistake on his part if he's trying to get him to go to Spain. Ryan has got a full life without Tommy and if he goes away with him Tommy will be all Ryan's got IYSWIM!

I keep coming back to what PPs said about maybe the copper he's after is actually Ann then I remember the pure venom in him when he spat WHO at Neil when he mentioned Catherine.

I think maybe I've watched too much Line of Duty but I did think it would be good it building up to him going and then Catherine opening the door to JustEats then him turning up at Ann's who will probably be all alone as that's the way it's gone so far!

It could be that Darius does want to kill him yes and that’s his plan.

So TLR gets hold of Ryan and we then see both Darius and Catherine racing to get to them. TLR dies either way. Ryan is ok but Catherine has to live with him making the choice to go with TLR.

Darius, having saved Ryan (after setting up the Ryan/TLR thing in the first place) then expects hero status and for Catherine to be indebted to him. She brings him and the whole OCG down with all the evidence.

Then sets gps to Himalayas.
