Had to keep reminding myself that the chatty Darius in the van was Darius the pisser 😅😅

And finally my social media week is complete when Sam’s Smith’s new video and Happy Valley intersect.

Really? I can't get over how different he looked acted and sounded.

spiderlight · 01/02/2023 00:13

That's a lovely article about JN and Rhys. 💕

Just seen Neil playing a pirate on 'Our Flag Means Death' - quite surreal! 😆

Catspyjamas17 · 01/02/2023 06:04

Yes it is, though newspaper articles are so hard to read on a phone these days with extraneous photos and captions appearing in the middle of what you are reading.

I thought the photo of the Jonas Brothers was the Knezevics for a minute.

LadyEloise1 · 01/02/2023 07:18

".......though newspaper articles are so hard on a phone these days with extraneous photos and captions appearing in the middle of what you are reading....."

I totally agree with you @Catspyjamas17.
I usually give up as it's such an pleasant experience.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2023 09:21

Agree Darius seemed quite charming and nice and also thoughtful to Catherine in not wanting her killed

Yet he seemed awful as happy pissing on one of the tweedles

Isn't that also though that he just doesn't want more trouble?

He must know that the cops are looking into him & suspect he is behind getting TLR out of prison.

If Catherine is killed TLR will be the main suspect.

BIWI · 01/02/2023 09:31

I think it's more that Darius doesn't want to have to provide TLR with a gun, for him to 'finish his business', as there's too much risk to the gun being traced back to him.

PrincessScarlett · 01/02/2023 09:41

Yes, Darius not wanting a policewoman killed is all about not drawing more attention to his dodgy business rather than any thought for her. Darius and TLR seem quite friendly which still make me think that TLR is head of OCG or at least equal with Darius the Pisser.

diddl · 01/02/2023 09:46

If TLR was important why would he be the one who went to prison?

Also the supposed change of plan & Darius putting him up in a shit place?

He's hardy being welcomed!

Why can't TLR get a gun himself if he's "high up the chain"?

LittleMrsPerfect · 01/02/2023 09:46

Im also confused about when Richard went to meet Darius and he said to CC that he gave a false name, yet when he got to the bar the staff at reception said hey Richard there is a note for you?

amprev · 01/02/2023 09:46

I am struggling to keep up so apologies if these points have already been said. The posters saying that TLR is the only person that has been nice to Ryan - he doused him in petrol as a child, raped his mother and beat the shit out of his granny, so I’m not convinced the love that TLR has for him is genuine - I think he’s a psychopath and incapable of love, as Catherine has always said.

I think it’s completely consistent with Catherine’s character that she didn’t tell Ryan she loved him - she hasn’t really shown affection for anyone throughout the three series! Or should I say that she shows affection in different ways - giving Claire a home, looking after Ryan through hell or high water. Even when she was shagging her ex husband, it was all done in a practical manner! She also had a difficult relationship with her daughter - she doesn’t do lovey dovey and I don’t think she did even before her daughter died.

I think it’s completely credible that Claire would betray Catherine by taking Ryan to visit TLR in prison. I think this was led more by Neil than Claire and Claire is always the submissive person in any relationship she is in. She’s the same with Catherine and she’s now the same with Neil. She epitomises the phrase that bad things happen when good people do nothing.

Im even hoping that she gets her moment in the final episode and does the right thing - whatever that may be!

I assumed it was to show him that Darius DID know his name?

louise5754 · 01/02/2023 09:52

I'm really hoping Daniel / Richard aren't Ryan's Dad.

Neil isn't Tommys Dad.

There is no evidence and it all feels to OTT. Non of those scenarios crossed my mind.

Now Nev and Joyce I'm not 100% sure about. I thought Joyce would end up being Jo's mum.

He had changed his name - from Richard Cawood to Richard Allen. He's so cocky in his belief that he will be safe from Darius that he only bothered to change his surname.

JemimaPyjamas · 01/02/2023 10:01

I have just caught up after not reading for a day or so. I was getting a bit jaded by all the constant theories, on SM rather than just here, many of which were ridiculous (and not deliberately so.)

I won't add my theories as there have been so many, but what I am rather disturbed by is how sorry I am feeling for TLR - before he used to make my skin crawl! I know we've seen flashes of the old version, the one we know and, er, not love but I love the way SW has added this other angle. It opens up a whole realm of potential possibilities and also like Catherine's character, show's how people, even psychopaths, have so many elements to their personalities. This is one of the strong points of the series I think, the people are 'real' (well, most of them, I'm still not 100% sure re some of the OCG cast, the one's higher up that aren't Darius.)

I think many women who have a lot on their plates are like this. Their love is practical and nurturing - to them words are cheap, any sweet-talking bugger can say they love you, but how do they treat you? That's the clincher. It's certainly the type of woman that Ena Sharples et al would have been. They didn't have time to sit and cuddle kids - they had to peel a stone of potatoes and boil a pudding and hand wash a load of sheets in a poss tub, and look after an ailing mother, and watch the kids, and (important) donkeystone the front step.

They worked hard - to the point of exhaustion. They loved their families to distraction, but they hadn't got time to be "soft' with anyone- there ws too much to do.

He gave his first name and a fake surname which is quite sensible because he answered when called Richard, he may have blown cover by ignoring them if he'd used a different fake first name

borisescomb · 01/02/2023 10:07

I agree with the comments about Catherine not saying I love you that Ryan. However I've got to say I'm finding her difficult this series. I know she's a serious, cynical character and has been throughout. But this time she seems really really jaded and miserable. The only caring aspect we've seen from her is her trying to help Joanna. Otherwise she seems to pretty much hate everyone in this series! Maybe she's just had enough.

That said, in the first episode while they were all sat around as a family she did seem happy so maybe this character change is representing how much the mere mention of TLR gets under her skin and makes her on edge.

Obviously Tommys mum yep.

Thank you.
