I didn’t see this mentioned (sorry if it has), did anyone else notice Jason Merrells sitting round the table at the CID briefing, I wasn’t aware of him being in it before? I’m wondering if he’s got a bigger part to play in the last episode … unless he took a small role because he’s a fan?!

he was one of the CID guys interviewing long-haired Tommy in the first episode about the body in the lake and the St Christopher medal.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/01/2023 13:22

Plus Catherine leaving a message on home phone , surely she would know this would enrage rob

Maybe Darius took such a risk in collecting TLR as TLR is actually the king pin of the organisation and not Darius 🤷🏻‍♀️

Or maybe Grandad Beetroot is, and wants to check out TLR's stability.

Emotionalsupportviper · 31/01/2023 13:30

I wonder what happened to the tiny *rse phone?

JaneJeffer · 31/01/2023 13:31

I feel so sorry for Daniel. His whole adult life has been fucked up by repercussions from TLR's actions. He lost his sister, his mother told him she wished he had died instead, his parents split up, his marriage failed because he just did it to have some normality but found it difficult because he was used to chaos at home and now his partner is cracking up.

RubyPip · 31/01/2023 13:38

I have so many questions, I don't see how they can all be answered in just one more episode! Apparently 5 endings have been filmed so the actors don't even know the ending.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 31/01/2023 13:43

I wonder what 5 different endings really means. Is it just the last 5 mins, and that different people die in each scenario or is it a major plot change in terms of learning something about someone's character. I hope she's written one good solid ending rather than just not being able to make up her mind.

BIWI · 31/01/2023 13:44

Earlier in the thread it was discussed - they haven't filmed 5 different endings, they've just played the last ending in various different ways, which makes it difficult (apparently) for anyone to know which the 'real' one is.

JaneJeffer · 31/01/2023 13:47

It'll just be TLR ends up

  1. Dead
  2. Abroad
  3. Back in jail
  4. The head honcho of the OCG
  5. Waking up in prison and the escape was all a dream
Greatly · 31/01/2023 13:48

I doubt all the loose ends will be tied up. Last tango in Halifax had some huge swoops and required a lot of suspension of disbelief (gillian and Robbie- absolute bollocks, one minute he was a vile abuser then they love each other). SW isn't perfect!

JaneJeffer · 31/01/2023 13:48

Don't know why it changed 1 to a bullet point and kept the other numbers Grin

Emotionalsupportviper · 31/01/2023 13:53

I think some loose ends are just red herrings to throw us off the track @Greatly.

It isn't imperfection as such - it's deliberate misdirection.

ilovebrie8 · 31/01/2023 14:07

One episode left is not enough to tie it all up!! Does anyone know if last tango in halifax will have another series anytime soon?

Well, Derek Jacobi is dead, so it's unlikely but not impossible, I suppose.

Catspyjamas17 · 31/01/2023 14:08

It's a slightly longer final episode though, I'm sure I read that somewhere.

I'm sure he would be surprised to hear about his death, though he has probably died a few times before, love.

foxlover47 · 31/01/2023 14:10

@Emotionalsupportviper grandad beetroot has me dead 😂😂😂😂

foxlover47 · 31/01/2023 14:10

When Tommy first got in the back of the van he was euphoric and hugged Darius , were they friends before ?

Still alive.

😆 Naughty Viper killing him off

Osteospermum · 31/01/2023 14:19

Don't shoot me, I'm not feeling this series as much as the others. Too much filling going on and I'm racking my brains trying to see how it is all going to be wrapped up in one episode.

In series 1, TLR was actively involved in Ann's abduction and Kirsten's murder as well as Lewis and the other flatmate and was taken out by CC on the boat.

In series 2, we had the serial killer storyline, and TLR was in prison but was able to attend his mother's funeral; CC was a suspect due to their history; Alison's son was the killer and John detective committed suicide. TLR was a menacing presence throughout despite being in a cell.

In series 3, the penultimate episode was still set on Tuesday, the day of the court case and great escape, Joanna's body being discovered, everyone going to Nev's, TweedleTwins still out and about. The wedding is supposed to be on Wednesday and CC retires on Thursday and both in 70 minutes...

Few questions:
Why would Darius take the risk of picking up TLR and jeopardise his election chances and efforts to become an upstanding member of the community if he was to get caught - of course that would not have happened because SW didn't write it that way - but that angle didn't sit well with me. The murder of Gary Gogovski happened such a long time ago, what else has TLR done in between/before to make Darius so indebted to him. This is fiction, not real life, don't overthink it Osteo.

Is it usual for someone like Rob to be released from questioning on the same day that he discovered his wife's body ? Would he not be number 1 suspect ?

Why am I struggling with TLR's new clean shaven, slightly suntanned, floppy haired image - is it because it's too similar to his McMafia character ?

So much happened on Trial Tuesday, bring on Wedding Wednesday.

HannaHat · 31/01/2023 14:23

Maybe they know when Joanna was last seen or spoke to someone and they know Neckbeard has a cast iron albi (at school the whole day?).
I think he'd be in custody otherwise.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 31/01/2023 14:28

I think series 2 was my favourite. Certainly the best for tension. I thought whatshischops from Downton Abbey playing CID John was fantastic at portraying a Mr Ordinary who had unravelled into absolute depravity. You could feel his building panic. Also thought his final scene provided the best moment of black humour, where he was advising Catherine on how she should be trying to talk him down, as he'd been on a course for that.

wishingchair1 · 31/01/2023 14:34

Can I ask why Wedding Wednesday keeps popping up. Who is getting married? I seem to miss the details. Also are Ann and CC's son together?

one of the hired thugs (the one who pretended he had the clap in the first episode, and then got beaten up and pissed on by Darius, and then started the kerfuffle in the court) keeps saying 'but I'm getting married on Wednesday.

And yes, Ann and Catherine's son Daniel are living together now.
