Once again I was completely wrong as I thought the bar tender sneaked it in when he dried the glass with the tea towel. Oh well here’s to the next series!

Do we think the series is continuing then?

According to the Radio Times it is:

www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/death-in-paradise-season-13-release-date-bbc/

Yes! Death in Paradise will return for seasons 13 and 14, with two feature-length Christmas special episodes also on their way.

"With its sparkling blend of mystery, humour and heart, Death in Paradise continues to delight the millions of us who make the return trip to Saint Marie with every sun-drenched episode," said Lindsay Salt, director of BBC drama. "It is a programme that goes from strength to strength, and I could not be happier that it will return for another two series and specials on BBC One and iPlayer."

Executive producer Tim Key added: "The response to series 12 has been incredible, so we're delighted that we'll be heading back to Guadeloupe for at least two more series!

"We've got an amazing and joyful Christmas special in store, and then series 13 begins with our 100th episode, so we've got plenty of surprises ready to celebrate that milestone. We've got huge plans for the future and can't wait to get going again."

Has there always been a turntable at the shack?

Yes, I think there has. I'm sure I remember it having been used before.

SoupDragon · 24/02/2023 22:47

Has Ralf been dying his hair? It looked odd.

kazzaD66 · 24/02/2023 23:11

DH said the same soupdragon and he reckoned Catherine aswell.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 24/02/2023 23:21

definitely Catherine as well, although oddly I only noticed that in the final scene... did it change midway through? She's usually got light streaks in it.

kazzaD66 · 25/02/2023 09:07

Exactly, the final scene is when DH noticed!!

DH thought that as well - he was most disappointed to be wrong!

InMySpareTime · 25/02/2023 11:40

The tea towel would have been a more plausible method.
They overplayed it with the sediment in the glass. That much sediment in a glass from a calmly poured bottle would have meant a visible powder layer in the bottle.
Also, given how quickly the victim died from the opioids, the "emetic" plan was extremely risky. He'd have been better just pretending to drink.
Then, why did Neville not secure the crime scene better? He should have had that bottle bagged and the scene photographed from his phone before anyone had a chance to meddle with stuff.

Just seen that next week Beyond Paradise is staying in the 8pm slot, and they're repeating a DI Mooney episode at 9.

kazzaD66 · 25/02/2023 14:00

I saw that. Weird scheduling Hmm

SoupDragon · 26/02/2023 09:23

I thought it was the old guy purely because he was the least likely 😂

no idea how he did it although I did suspect the bottles had been switched as they focused on the one the bar tender used to pour Neville's. The emetic was just ridiculous though.

Tourist29 · 26/02/2023 16:16

Not really a strong motive either. They have done the adopted / abandoned child finds real parent several times. Hope it improves - Neville was better in this one.

365names · 26/02/2023 19:03

We thought the dishwasher had seemed to have had a clean run but hadn’t enabling the bar tender to give the right glass to the right person

Can you all help me out? The actress who played DI Flitcroft, where else have I seen her? Dr Who? Holby? She looks really familiar.

LIZS · 26/02/2023 19:41

Doctors, Silent Witness.

Haven't watched the final episode yet but omg that Sophie story was utter nonsense! Still glad they did it though as I was baffled by her apparent willingness to dump her life and become 50s housewife for Itchy Neville who can't even be arsed to turn up for the dinner she cooked.

But I have questions: why didn't she just kill him then? why would she come and move in with him without even the faintest shadow of a plan about what her revenge would be? as a pp asked, why shag the man and spend all that time with him when she could have just befriended him to gain his trust? HOW did she not bump into the other guy? WHY didn't she blame him more?

I've been watching HV as well and one of my favourite things is how often the characters know each other or have worked together etc, as they live in a small town. Not so in St Honore where despite everyone apparently gravitating to Catherine's bar, people can avoid each other and not know (for example) who is dating whom.

I think the inspector who came to investigate Neville (and by the way - shouldn't he have had a lawyer trying to free him, not his own colleagues????) is going to be a love interest for Selwyn. She may come to be the new inspector or just come to the island for a bit. If she comes as an officer there'll be an obvious conflict of interest for a while and then maybe Selwyn will take retirement and they will have a sort of family with his daughter etc.
