I never understood why they killed Richard off. He was desperate to get back to London - they could have let him.

My order of favourites is Humphrey/Richard (can't decide between them), then Jack then Neville. Although maybe Neville unfairly suffers from the stories, and the supporting characters, not being as good as they used to be.

Riverlee · 23/02/2023 19:43

I guess when they killed Richard off, they didn’t realise the series would run so long.

FluffyYucca · 23/02/2023 19:46

I don’t mind Neville but am getting a bit bored with him so a change would be good, I think.

Jack was my least favourite DI by a long way.

He was thermo man

Yes the first inspector getting killed was rare

I have never watched this but am going to watch the new spin off tonight and have downloaded the very first episode to start watching the main series, it looks quite easy watching like Midsummer Murders and all wrapped up in the episode or is it cliffhangers like Happy Valley and LOD

kazzaD66 · 24/02/2023 08:34

Never seen Midsummer Murders but DiP is a very easy watch, wrapped up in one episode.

RedRiverShore3 · 24/02/2023 08:43

Thanks, that's good if it's wrapped up in the episode, means I needn't rush through as there are loads.

That's it always

I love watching and guessing who has done it

Sometimes right. Often wrong

There is the occasional cliffhanger, but very rarely and they never go over more than 2 episodes. The vast majority are wrapped up in 1.

Although thinking about it the first 2 inspectors were murdered because Richard Poole only came to Saint Marie because the previous inspector Charlie Hulme (played by Hugo Speer) was murdered in a locked panic room in s1 ep1 ......

SoupDragon · 24/02/2023 11:35

Sometimes there's a story thread that runs through the series but yes, the main story is always neatly wrapped up in one episode.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2023 13:36

Oh good point @Lunde

Basically st marie is a very dangerous place to live 😂🥲🥲

SoupDragon · 24/02/2023 14:33

Exactly like Midsomer 😂

SoupDragon · 24/02/2023 14:34

And also why you'd never have invited Jessica Fletcher/Angela Landsbury round for dinner

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2023 17:13

Indeed @SoupDragon

Sure there are other places to avoid as well due to constant murder rate

I watched the very first one and enjoyed it, I liked all the explaining at the end.

When did he ditch the tie and jacket look?

LIZS · 24/02/2023 21:13

Ah that's better!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2023 21:15

Tie last week or week before.

Jacket not sure

It's madness. The locals walk about in skimpy clothes as hot and humid

Anyone from U.K. would find it hot and lovely and wear summer stuff

He doesn't and neither did Ben - he was in suits

Must have baked 😂

Has there always been a turntable at the shack?

Do we think the series is continuing then?
