So episode 6 is exactly the same as the Antigua episode, but with corporate rather than the public as their clients?

Seems so. Corporate clients might be a bit less forgiving than holidaying tourists though.

Megan might be the type that emerges in the mid-phase of the series.

I thought her right at the beginning but she has another bakery business and they’re just so overdone at this point. I think she’ll go far but I don’t see her winning purely based on her business idea.

The carbon footprint of this show is disgraceful, so hypocritical. One week Sugar is talking about e bikes and climate change and the next week they're flying off again on another trip 🤔

Fizbosshoes · 04/02/2023 08:58

Agree @CrapBucket . Every year all the cars annoy me. When they get down to 4 or 5 candidates they're all in seperate cars. And often they're doing stuff in London and getting stuck in traffic and I wonder why they wouldn't use public transport (possibly too difficult to film)

Lentilweaver · 04/02/2023 09:21

Are there any women candidates who don't want to make cakes or sell some pointless beauty stuff?

Maireas · 04/02/2023 10:40

I was thinking the same, @Lentilweaver .
The most ridiculous was that woman with her business selling conditioning lotion for eyelashes. Dear lord.

harrassedmumto3 · 04/02/2023 10:47

All these comments on the women's appearance. It's completely depressing.

Agree @CrapBucket . I said similar at the start of the series when Suralan was going on about the cost of living crisis and in his next sentence was sending them off to Antigua. Complete hypocrisy but I guess fully in line with how this country works right now.

If they looked like normal, professional business women, nobody would be commenting on their appearance.

But the casting director seems to have gone for a Love Island Reject vibe and it's impossible not to be distracted by excessive fillers, impractical high heels etc.

Maireas · 04/02/2023 17:38

That's right, @cariadlet . In fact Shazia stood out because she looked natural and elegant. I'm so distracted by those crazy lips on some of them, it is so obvious and distracting. Also skin tight clothing and spike heels when you're running around looks stupid.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 04/02/2023 17:40

I have caught up to this this evening and the whole way through I was like if Shazia doesn't go, I will absolute fume, so obtuse!

drunkornot · 04/02/2023 18:10

Shazia is horrendous. She didn’t contribute one useful thing across the series. All she did was strop and derail. Why was she shouting at the actor to “gulp fresh air” whilst joe was supposed to be the director? Her comments added nothing but confusion. She’s a marketing grad, but the advertising she produced was terrible. The worst thing is that the other team didn’t have a good product either, so shazia’s team could have won if not for her antics.

harrassedmumto3 · 04/02/2023 20:30

@cariadlet

So if they were plainer in appearance, they wouldn't be fair game. Got it.

Fandangoes · 05/02/2023 16:13

Just caught up on this week’s episode. What I find utterly depressing is that these young females are the ones pushing the sexist tripe women have been fighting against for decades. The advert with the half naked woman, with a shirt pulled off her shoulder to make the bike look sexy, running around these tasks teetering on silly heels and completely inappropriate business dress. Watching one of the girls (Victoria) busy spraying her legs with fake tan to prepare for her busy day ahead! It’s so frustrating!

gogohmm · 06/02/2023 15:32

This week's episode had really made me made, more than normal. I ride a motorbike, they simply had no concept of what the market is and ignored the poor lad who did know about bikes. The big market for bikes is my age, middle aged because we have cashGrin. I'm currently in the research for an electric bike stage hence I'm overly invested in this task. It's driven us mad

What appealed to you most - Soldier or Zap Zap? 😂

ReneBumsWombats · 06/02/2023 16:27

I was thinking about this one and I think I'd call the bike Stream and have the tagline Clean Power. Advert would be bike riding against various environmental backdrops, like waterfalls, forests, hills, snow. Voice-over saying something like, "Ride like the wind, ride like the sea, ride like the mountains. Ride the earth with clean electric power."

Is that a shit idea? I don't know anything about bikes either. But I did notice early on that neither of the campaigns was really pushing the electric side of it, which was the whole point.

Maireas · 03/02/2023 17:34

@BogRollBOGOF - spoon feeding through education? Excuse me, I spend my working day (as do my colleagues) encouraging resilience, determination and thinking skills.

Excuse me for talking about my own teaching experience in cultures where pupils were taught to the test, where assessment cycles took up a third of curriculum time, and the objective was to generate the right data to keep OFSTED happy rather than developing breadth of knowledge and skills. There was a huge amount of spoon feeding.

I'm delighted you work for a more enlightened institution. Maybe if the last schools I'd worked in had had more open, practical approaches, I'd still be teaching.

I miss teaching young people, but I don't miss the proportion of patronising colleagues and management!

It’s depressing that they feel they have to pump they’r faces full of silicone & look ridiculous in the process!!

JustDanceAddict · 07/02/2023 09:26

*their that should be & I’ve been aware of onomatopoeia since I was 8 😆 when I remember having to do one of those exercises where you find as many words from a single word, which was the above!!

I thought this too! I don't know zip ( or zip zap) about ebikes but I did think they are for people who want to be greener, not sexier! I was cringing at all the sexy Talk.

I think Stream is a good name.

drunkornot · 07/02/2023 14:43

I think I would have been basic and just called it eBike or eRacer to channel an “iPhone” aesthetic

The whole basis of student learning now is about resilience and independence, building on learning Shame your experience was negative, I hope that school has moved with the times, or will fail Ofsted. Your own children at least are independent thinkers!
