I'm wondering when Bradley was told about the name change (would have loved to seen that!) as during filming the advert he called the bike Zip Zap at least twice? I thought he said in the Boardroom that he didn't know until the whole team sat down together but that was after the ad filming had been done?

Both campaigns were awful, the winning team were only successful because the other was so bad. Yet to listen to them it was as if they thought they did actually produce something brilliant! I'm glad Shazia was fired as she never listened to anyone else. Mark should be next.

toomuchlaundry · 03/02/2023 08:15

Didn’t you see his face when they did the reveal @lookslikeitsgoingtosnow? it was before they filmed the ad

I went back and checked, in the show we saw the ad filming before the reveal, they then went off to do the editing. He had called it Zip Zip in the advert. Do we see things in a different order to how they were actually filmed for the show?

Fizbosshoes · 03/02/2023 08:41

I thought e-Z rider would have been a good name.
But if they had to call it zip zap then it was crying out to have a lightning/electricity bolt as the Z .
The zip zap logo was unbelievably awful.
And the onomatopoeia comment was super awkward.
But the winning team won because theirs was (marginally) less bad rather than good (which to be honest is usually the case)

lookslikeitsgoingtosnow · 03/02/2023 08:42

In the reveal meeting they also brought up about the actor not being able to ride so the ad filming had already taken place. He obviously knew about the name change, why pretend that he didn't?

CrapBucket · 03/02/2023 09:50

Avi was so cringey yet he is still my favourite, he's so likeable. Anyway I'm off to test push some bikes so I can decide which to buy.

Lentilweaver · 03/02/2023 09:53

The allegedly racist one wasn't tour guide Joe, it was pest control guy Mark. Who struck me as pretty domineering and awful in the Brighton episode. www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-11706041/The-Apprentice-Shazia-Hussain-fired-Lord-Sugar-following-chaotic-electric-motorbike-task.html

Does anyone have a favourite yet? I hate everybody. I liked cannon guy, but he left too soon.

BogRollBOGOF · 03/02/2023 10:10

Dani seems to have some sense behind her. Some of the men have had quite quiet starts. Mark doesn't have a warm, likable demeanour.

No one is really glowing out as having made game changing moments of brilliance.

BogRollBOGOF · 03/02/2023 10:13

Megan might be the type that emerges in the mid-phase of the series.

AnImaginaryCat · 03/02/2023 10:19

Avi reminds me of one of my cousins so much it actually freaks me out.

His character, mannerisms and the way he talks are exactly the same. Right down to with thinking himself wise (while actually being a bit of a (lovable) dope) and explaining this wisdom to others like they are children.

Avi looked so pleased with himself for using onomatopoeia when they were chosing the name. It struck me at that time he'd not long learnt the word and was delighted to be able to use it. I probably thought that as I can completely see my cousin discovering a 'big' word then dropping it into conversation and assuming others won't know what it means and so explaining it (unasked).

Tup they filmed the advert and were using Zip Zap so it was a bit strange he was acting like he didnt know it had been changed.

The only reveal was the actual logo on the second day.

Shazia seems quite annoying and oblivious especially on the You're Fired show, but they did mention that she was "flying the flag" for neuro diversity.

So I'm assuming shes not NT which would explain some of her behaviours and how some of the other candidates responded to her.

She did seem very overbearing, though the other candidates should have stuck up for their ideas more.

Matt seemed really aggressive last week, so I can believe the allegations made against him.

Also at the end of the You're Fired episode she said she didnt really make any friends in the process which just felt really sad to me.

Otis was great in the You're Fired Episode, really getting down to the details, though Shazia was not really taking on board any of the advice given to her.

The other thing is I think thebcandidayes are set up to fail.
They have very limited time to get anything done, there doesnt seem to be any discussion between the teams.

Is the Subteam had rang the team leader even once he could have told them- to go back to the original Caf-E idea.

Limited time, limited collaboration.

It does seem they are being led to make ridiculous decisions just so it'll make better TV.

Rowthe · 03/02/2023 11:02

Also Avi just seems so enthusiastic all the time, happy but oblivious.

When he was told he was coming infor the pitch and he replied

" It would be my pleasure!"

😂😂😂

FluffyYucca · 03/02/2023 11:21

I’m sure in earlier series there was way more contact between the team and the sub-team during the task.

I’m getting annoyed with Reese. And am sure I never noticed Rochelle before this week - will be interesting to see who starts to emerge now the candidates are thinning out a bit.

AnImaginaryCat · 03/02/2023 11:51

There was one man who if you told me just joined yesterday I'd believe you. Can't tell you his name as I don't know it 😆

Same every year though- a few get through the first weeks by being quite and not bolshy.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 03/02/2023 12:11

I actually shouted at the telly ('You patronising total dick!') at the 'have you heard of onomatopoeia' bit. If I'd have been on the panel of experts I'd have been saying 'Yes, since before you were born, pal.'

Aldidl · 03/02/2023 13:02

I’m still so annoyed at Shazia that I came along a day late to vent 😅 what flag is she flying?? What is her positive message? That if you’re a bit of a dick - and she really was a dick a few times - you can just blame it on being ND? Avi was so sweet in his comments, what a shame that she couldn’t reciprocate with anything positive to say about her co-apprentices.

Wombats67 · 03/02/2023 16:01

I was wondering which ND she has but yeah, she was rude about the other people.

It's an explanation but shouldn't be used as an excuse.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 03/02/2023 16:55

My feeling is that Lord Sugar is fed up getting presented with crappy business ideas in the final so is finding excuses to fire certain people as soon as he can.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 03/02/2023 16:56

Regardless of how they perform in the task - albeit Shazia was definitely the right choice this week

BogRollBOGOF · 03/02/2023 17:21

I think we are increasingly seeing a generation represented where everything is solved on Google and limited skills to find alternative methods/ solutions (e.g. the cluster who couldn't read maps) Also a lot of spoon feeding through education.

I watched with my 9 & 12 yo's and they weren't impressed with the quality of branding on offer. When a 9 yo says it looks like they've put a load of clipart together, it ain't a professional look 🤣

Maireas · 03/02/2023 17:34

@BogRollBOGOF - spoon feeding through education? Excuse me, I spend my working day (as do my colleagues) encouraging resilience, determination and thinking skills.

Yes - her approach was insane.

Brad: 'I love bikes, I know all about bikes. This style of bike is known as a 'cafe racer' so we can tap into the perfect market by calling it the 'Caf-E Racer'.
Everyone: 'Oooh, we don't like bikes at all and we don't know anything about bikes and we've never heard of a 'cafe racer'!
Shazia: Obviously a rubbish name then as only people who like bikes and might buy a bike have heard of it. I know, let's call it a 'Zip Zap'.

Everyone: Let's keep the branding simple.
Shazia: Don't you remember that episode from last year where by being arty with letters, the contestants mistakenly created a baby food brand called 'First F Dies'? Let's do the same thing and make the name even sillier. Zif Zaf it is!'
Avi: Don't worry, it's onomatopoeic <preens> so everyone will love it Smile

You do have a point

psychomath · 03/02/2023 18:46

Did anyone catch what the actual task was next week? All I picked up was that they're going to Dubai and something about not letting people have water??

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 03/02/2023 18:54

Episode 6 – Dubai Corporate Hospitality

The Apprentice 2023's sixth episode will see the candidates heading abroad once again, this time to Dubai. In the United Arab Emirates, they'll have to put on a corporate away day for two international clients based in the city.

"While one team shows off the glitz and glam of the city, the other goes for a more traditional approach in the desert. But it's the team with the most profit at the end that will win," the BBC says.
