Yes exactly.

I just realised I missed out Karen and Sugar making a bit deal about the client being told about the rationed drinks.

Sounds terrible but I'm so glad Reese has gone. I didn't like him at all - for no specific reason.

Riverlee · 09/02/2023 22:11

I think Avi would have gone as well.

thecatsthecats · 09/02/2023 22:13

This is a "your business plan is poor" firing if ever I saw one.

Bottom line was failure of leadership to pursue quality over profit. That was the mistake from which all other mistakes flowed.

RiktheButler · 09/02/2023 22:15

Why do they run around like bad children's entertainers on a sugar rush? Trying to get clients to "whoop" is so annoying

And they aren't "Corporate clients" - they are just fucking clients/guests

ShakeYourFeathers · 09/02/2023 22:27

Joe, company is based near myhometown

lifeissweet · 09/02/2023 22:32

I know it's supposed to be disaster TV, but I do think it's utterly stupid that they have to do the catering themselves. No one organising a corporate event would do this and not buy in caterers. Or tour guides for that matter. I get sick of watching candidates in hair nets cooking stuff. It happens every other episode. It's not Masterchef.

ReneBumsWombats · 09/02/2023 22:33

All the tasks are unfair, of course, but the catering ones especially so. Everyone knows you need proper training and experience to prepare and serve a meal professionally, especially for that many people and especially if it's supposed to be high end (which in Dubai, it must be). It's hard enough serving Christmas Dinner to six people and keeping it all hot!

AnImaginaryCat · 09/02/2023 22:57

Always gets to me the catering. They are shown and taste several menus. Get told prices and then end up just effectively buying very expensive ingredients they could have bought in Aldi for 10% the cost.

Caterguin · 09/02/2023 22:58

I don't think it's as disastrous as it used to be. The contestants seem heavily scripted- evident in their wooden delivery- and more tightly edited. I suspect they're all more aware of how sm will go for them.

I feel we're missing the genuinely stupid conversations/ facial expressions and fuck ups that came with a less media savvy cohort.

Agree, of course if they are not professional chefs it's going to take longer, and it must be a skill in itself to prepare loads of food in a tiny galley/yacht kitchen.
I knew the catering sub team would be hung out to dry even though they specifically said spend as little as possible! (And then promised luxury!)
I liked Joe ...but that probably means he was too nice for the competition anyway

billysboy · 10/02/2023 07:11

Victoria should have smashed this with the experience she claimed to have had , a lucky escape by the other team making such a mess of it

all of the candidates are very social media aware
shame that Joe went

there must be a lot of editing around the whole process to manipulate the audience

billysboy · 10/02/2023 07:23

Sounds like Reece got on the vodka and Irn bru on the plane on the way over

Lawandsawdus · 10/02/2023 07:48

I liked Joe and the business idea sounded interesting but obviously not what they wanted.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 10/02/2023 08:55

I notice Reece didn't appear on You're Fired, although they showed his 'best bits' clip.

lollipoprainbow · 10/02/2023 09:03

Dani really reminds me of dani dyer !

ShakeYourFeathers · 10/02/2023 09:51

I've ordered Joe's balm because I do like to support local businesses

Will let you know what it's like

He definitely did overindulge in alcohol on the plane to Dubai!

I got a really nasty, smug, I’m better than you vibe off him.

Joe was nice but a bit ineffective.

As others have said why do they make the apprentices do the cooking on these posh corporate events? If it were me as a client paying lots of money, I’d be fuming if I knew the food was knocked up by an untrained chef.

Did anyone notice that Dani, who I previously liked, seemed off her game last night?

ReneBumsWombats · 10/02/2023 11:05

To set them up to fail. It's good TV.

I enjoy the programme but it's never actually been about business skills. It's a business-themed game show.

toomuchlaundry · 10/02/2023 11:21

I don't understand why they have to pay so much for catering then have to do the catering themselves!

Yes very odd

How is it going to be luxury if they have not got the experience

Yes I know it's all a farce😀

ilovebrie8 · 10/02/2023 14:16

What is Joe’s business? Surprised he got the chop it should have been Avi or the PM! Not liking anyone particularly this year...and Reece has been given the chop for boozing apparently

ilovebrie8 · 10/02/2023 14:22

I liked the cannon guy but he went early doors!

Eco friendly lip balm.

Presumably he'd look to expand the line if it's successful.

martha4clark · 10/02/2023 16:33

Avi seems like a nice guy but not particularly bright or business-like. But at least we've seen something of him in most episodes, unlike Sohail. What has he actually done in tasks? Am surprised he's not been made to be PM by Sir Alan.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 10/02/2023 18:10

I expect Reece getting drunk on the plane has been framed as a health issue - stress of 'the process' leading him to self-medicate with alcohol, that sort of thing, which is why the BBC are getting away without telling the full story.
