Tim has been through the process before , so maybe he is a bit more sympathetic?

Karren was just nasty

Tim did eyeroll early on, I think it was when a cluster proudly admitted to not being able to use maps.

Something I noticed a few times through the episode was one of the women negotiating perfectly well, then one of the men wading in and shutting it down. I don't think it's a new trait at all, I just seemed to see it very transparently this time.

Tim definitely criticises when it's deserved, but it's not gratuitously nasty the way Karren can be.

I agree, Karren used to be harsh but fair - she's just harsh now.

How is it this lot can't read maps? I get that they have grown up on sat nav - but, e.g. Google Maps is still a map - it's the same principle.

I miss Margaret Mountford. She was great.

Thought Sugar saying to one of them "when you needed to get a small body part moulded, you should have asked them to do your brain," was too far. Too sneery and nasty!!

Margaret was a breed apart from Ms Brady

I wonder if Karen has been told to ramp up the comments she’s making this year? I always get the feeling they have them playing roles. Karen’s has generally been a firm but fair type of thing but maybe she’s been asked to increase the firm part of that this year.

Not sure if it's already been said. There was a penalty for getting a non-nautical barometer but no mention of the other team's (cheaper) wig not being ombre!

Yeah. She was proper schoolmarm.

Karren is clearly playing a role and she's much more relaxed, jokey and self-deprecating in the spin off interview shows. But it's all starting to feel a bit much now. This is the first series I've watched that I'm not invested in at all.

I honestly think Reece looks like he's on something during filming.

Just watching on catchup and I think Karen was right about the asparagus. He did ask if it was picked today but the owner didn’t answer that question in the clip I watched. He just said something like “I can’t guarantee how quickly it will go”

I watched it back too, and although he didn't actually say it was picked today I really did feel as though it was implied. Reece made it very clear he wanted it picked that day.

I thought it went something like this:

R: "Do you have fresh asparagus"
Bloke: "Yes, it costs blah ..."
R: "Just to be sure, it was picked today?"
Bloke: "It goes quite quickly"

Which I would take to mean it's fresh but isn't on the shelves for long.

Several years ago in one of the treasure hunt ones they had to get a skeleton. One team got one that was made of card in a kit form iirc but I'm pretty sure they didn't specify what it had to be made of. They were fined because it wasn't a proper skeleton, which I thought at the time was unfair.
But both me and DD noticed the team that paid less for the wig didn't get one that was Ombre (specified) but they weren't fined for it

I know it's always stayed and set up, but the conversations between candidates seem even more staged this year.

A lot must have been edited out of that episode - I reckon they struggled to edit it and that's why Sugar's intro happened at the end of the cartoon episode, which isn't usual.

The winners are chosen purely on the profit they've made.

I know money is important in business but Alan doesn't care what cock ups happen along the way as long as you made money.

I don't know how people on here, even after rewinding said he answered "yes". You can understand how they assumed it was fresh.
