Also, if Meghan genuinely didn't realise at the time of the Oprah interview, she should have clarified afterwards once she did realise - she brought the professional reputation of the Archbishop of Cantebury into question. If it had been me and I hadn't realised that I had implied that someone had acted fraudulently in their profession, I would apologise and clarify.

Anyway I'm just going to hide this thread. I was already upset at being called a liar and told I am speaking nonsense about my own culture, but having to explain over and over and over again that Meghan had no idea that people in the UK didn't understand what she said is exhausting.

In the Christian tradition, the couple are married when the vows are exchanged. Paperwork is legally required, but it isn’t the bit the Church cares about.

The “you don’t understand because it’s normal in cultures” people need to do a bit of reading about Christian sacraments.

Forgetting Meghan for a few moments, Harry is coming across in this saga of reality TV more and more as a whining, petulant, weak and self entitled man. He seems to be enabling her and feeding off her negativity to justify his own sense of victimhood and it’s just turning into one massive echo chamber.

I've tried to avoid reading or watching anything about them since they left the RF. It's pretty hard to do, since they seem to court the limelight constantly! Didn't watch Oprah, haven't watched Netflix, but have been reading quite a bit today. I thought they wanted out. A life away from the media, away from the RF, peace for their children in a different country, financial independence. So WHY OH WHY are they always trying (quite successfully) to make money out of their royal connection, ie slagging everyone off? I doubt we will ever really know exactly what happened. But a normal life IS there for the taking. They could get office jobs. Market and sell products from home. Run a charity. Venture into the other arts (visual/ photographic/ musical/ who knows what other talents they might have?) or any number of types of work. But no, they are making a living and creating a lot of media attention over the RF, yet again.

I thought they wanted out. Well, piss off then.

I have read over the years that both Charles and William have temper tantrums, but that Williams are really OTT and scary. And are we surprised that the palace then tried to spin it to show William favourably? William seems spoilt, petulant and dumb.

I'll get flamed for this, but I don't think their marriage will last either. I hope I'm wrong, because God knows what Harry will do if they ever divorce! Probably come creeping back and then whinge about being treated unfairly by the institution he left behind.

She isn’t from a culture that has two weddings. Those are normally when there is a cultural religious ceremony which isn’t considered legal marriage in the jurisdiction. Personally I don’t think the archbishop should have agreed to marry them. She converted religion to marry her previous husband and then again to marry Harry. It appears insincere.

@ScruffMuffin , I think what they really wanted was adulation. When that wasn’t forthcoming they threw a hissy fit and left, claiming they wanted privacy.

Still better than being born in a slum with addicts as parents which a lot of people have as their deck of cards. Just can’t muster up sympathy for Harry (other than losing his mother). Personally I think being the spare would be great - all the privileges without the responsibility. The world really is your oyster to do great things.

They wanted half-in, half-out. The Queen (rightly IMO) was having none of that because the liability was too high. What we are seeing now is Harry having a very public hissy fit because he’s a spoilt brat who doesn’t like being told no.
