Hopefully Raahh can post on this one.

Nearly time for the Christmas cliffhanger!

OP posts:

I'm not actaully looking forward to Wendi Peters starting, soon .I remembered yesterday that she is. I don't actually like her much, I haven't watched Corrie for years ( I live in rubbish bit of Manchester , I don't need to watch it on telly Grin) and when I did, I didn't like her. And will she be replacing someone? If Zaniel are stepping down from the partnership, it suggests one of them is leaving- or both. Or maybe she is an 'extra'.

I can't see them getting rid of Jimmi- he's the longest running character. I don't want Al to go. I wouldn't miss Sid. He can go, with his miserable paramedic face , Grin

FuzzyPuffling · 26/01/2023 14:32

I'd keep Al and Gobby.
The End.

Raahh · 26/01/2023 14:38

Fuzzy yes, that's pretty much it. And Gobbyplod. I like Gobbyplod. When he's being happy.

EspeciallyDetermined · 26/01/2023 14:42

I hated Cilla in Corrie (I was a devoted Corrie fan for many years but a few years ago the Connor family all got too much for me and I stopped completely and have never gone back to it). There are too many major storylines going on amongst the staff at the moment, it is feeling depressing and with no end in sight. Literally no one seems to have anything good going on in their life. Someone needs a new romance (which lasts more than one episode - what happened to that bloke Ruhma had a few dates with?)

Raahh · 26/01/2023 17:01

Yes, what DID happen to the bloke Ruhma was seeing?

MadisonAvenue · 26/01/2023 22:00

Raahh · 26/01/2023 17:01

The whole storyline about Ruhma dating seems to have been forgotten about doesn’t it.

OP posts:
Raahh · 27/01/2023 07:22

I acually went back to check, and Ruhma's 3rd- and by the look of it- final-date was at the start of November, with Suhaan. The actor isn't listed after that. I can't remember how it was left!

EspeciallyDetermined · 27/01/2023 07:27

Considering how many of them are single there really isn't much dating going on. Zaniel and the Gobbies are the only ones in relationships at the moment. Must be the longest barren spell Emma's ever had. At least Luca's trying.

Raahh · 27/01/2023 07:33

Especially it is odd, when you think about it. I mean, I suppose Scarlett's financial situation is a factor (which is why she put off Ethan). Emma never has any luck- Jimmi doesn't either- he is quite intense though. Luca seems a bit doomed- and he seems like a nice bloke.
Every time Al comes close to a bit of happiness, the writers decide to go down the 'pompous Al' route and ruin stuff.
Sid would be an annoying drip of a boyfriend. Grin

Raahh · 27/01/2023 07:34

I forgot Jimmi quite recently went out with Maeve - that ended well! Grin

EspeciallyDetermined · 27/01/2023 07:36

I'd forgotten about Maeve, indeed the whole Sutton Vale thing is clearly never going to be mentioned again. I thought Al might get together with that woman from the Environment agency or whatever she was but no.

Raahh · 27/01/2023 07:47

Especially yes, they seemed to be hinting at something with that woman, didn't they?

His best 'relationship' is with Jimmi- and they keep messing that up too. Sad i don't want him to be mates with Kirsty's STBXH, Rich. He seems like a complete wet lettuce.

And has the son joined the army or not?, or has that short lived storyline gone by the wayside too?

Good thing we have a spread sheet!

EspeciallyDetermined · 27/01/2023 08:03

Yes, we need more Al and Jimmi. The episode I accidentally watched yesterday when my SkyQ messed up was one with them having a big heart to heart, they are a good pairing. I can see why Kirsty's getting pissed off with Rich, imagine it, you have just started a new job and the husband you are trying to separate from amicably keeps showing up at work and befriending your new colleagues. That would piss anyone off.

LilyAndTheKing · 27/01/2023 17:04

I don't want to cause offence, but I'm wondering how Kirsty carried her pregnancy or perhaps her son is adopted? I'm overthinking but definitely don't want to think about childbirth for a woman with a restrictive pelvis

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 27/01/2023 17:06

@LilyAndTheKing I'm thinking it's probably a natural pregnancy...

I think the last time we saw him they were on a romantic’ dinner date but the waiter and the chef kept arguing off camera, so they ended up counselling the waiter instead of enjoying a date? Is that right?

Raahh · 28/01/2023 08:24

martinis I think that's right! Nothing hs been been mentioned of him since, and the drama at T'Mill moved on the Val and Princess stuff, and was Christmas.

He was a bit odd and needy- and even though I can't stand Ruhma, she can do better- or maybe she doesn't actually need a man around at all- get her a lodger. She maybe just needs someone to 'look after' (but not patronise). Not Scarlett though - not sure they would always get on.

Or maybe she could just be happy on her own- which is not a totally outlandish concept. Hmm She can't be short of money, to get hobbies/holidays- (I never understood where Val got got all her money from, to be honest, on a receptionist /VPAS wage- at least Ruhma is a midwife with Heston's money/house). Did she inherit from a parent - she might have.

EspeciallyDetermined · 28/01/2023 08:54

Yes, I used to wonder how Val afforded her nice house on a presumably fairly low wage, but it might have been inherited, or she might have bought many years ago when property was more affordable, not having children saves a lot of money.

Raahh · 28/01/2023 09:21

Especially having said what I said, I did get a house in the 90s (housing association, part ownership, etc- similar looking estate to where Val lived ) and houses were quite cheap then. And I only worked in retail and put down £100 as a deposit to get it. Had to move, sadly a few years later.

I think it might have been her mother's house- but I am probably making it up. Grin

mattyd · 28/01/2023 10:49

Hi everyone, just found this thread. When Eesh stayed with Valerie I'm pretty sure it was a different house.

Raahh · 28/01/2023 10:55

mattyd oh, it probably was Grin They are always moving them whe they have to change location like the Gobbys are always moving (they've had about 4 houses in the last 10 years!).

It's like Emma's house- that kitchen this week was not the same one she used to have (which always seemed quite small for what must have been a big house) - now she has a big shiny kitchen island and a new hallway!

I seem to remember Geoffrey going missing and - it wasn't from where Val used to live.

And Al keeps moving - but not moving.

Sometimes Jimmi lives on an estate- and sometimes he lives on a main road.

They think we don't notice these things Grin

EspeciallyDetermined · 28/01/2023 12:34

Emma's kitchen was weird this week, it looked like two different kitchens shived together (cut and shut). Nothing like it used to be.

MadisonAvenue · 29/01/2023 00:07

I always had a feeling that Val had inherited her house from her parents. Not sure it was ever mentioned as being the case, I just assumed that.

OP posts:
JustDanceAddict · 29/01/2023 09:27

I inherited a house from
my parents - it happens!

Raahh · 29/01/2023 09:36

Just oh- I know it happens- but at the start she didn't seem to have much- and was going out with Ashley who she nearly married. I'm not sure where he lived.
The housing situation on Doctors is very funny. The Gobby's acquire houses/move all the time - and it's always really simple, no messy moving days or hassles with probate when Auntie dies. They just move. Grin

And Daniel and Zara at one point just swapped houses with Cherry and Jimmi, iirc.
