Hopefully Raahh can post on this one.

Nearly time for the Christmas cliffhanger!

OP posts:

Really confused about why an apparently normal teenager would do something so terrible and wondering if we're going to get any kind of explanation?

EspeciallyDetermined · 14/01/2023 16:05

It was really strange wasn't it, no explanation at all

Raahh · 14/01/2023 16:12

The 'plots of the day 'are always a bit like that though- there's never any real explanation of anything, and we will never see them again. Very few of the storylines are recurring ones or last more than an episode.

It jars more when it's something like this though, because 'my son's a murderer'- with no expalnation why a seemingly ordinary 18 year suddently goes off the rails (no pun intended) is a a bit more serious than the usual day to day plots involving patients with minor medical issues/babies born in 20 minutes.

Raahh · 14/01/2023 16:15

But you never know when a seemingly random story will become significant- like the episode with Jimmi and the patient that ultimately- much later- was the reason he ended up in the Clink.

But Doctors isn't usually that clever Grin or bothered with the long game.

EspeciallyDetermined · 14/01/2023 16:17

Usually it is more obvious, eg someone struggling with parent with dementia, teenager with gangs/drugs/relationships, or it gets explained (that rude couple last week demanding a change of appointment so they didn't miss their cruise or whatever). Seemingly normal teenager pushes girl under a train is very random indeed.

doctorsnoddy · 16/01/2023 13:57

What's Rich doing at the surgery?

martinisforeveryone · 16/01/2023 14:22

I just watched today's and googled the actress who plays Kirsty. It says she's lived in England for 20 years and Birmingham since 2011. I'd never have guessed and I know that Doctors isn't known especially for it's scripting or quality acting, but I'm finding her performances pretty dire.

Just when we got rid of obnoxious Princess, they've landed us with another unlikeable character.

Raahh · 16/01/2023 17:32

I was out for lunch, so just catching up now. I can't warm to Kirsty at all.
And Scarlett's dad is irritating me too- he doesn't have to stay at home freezing. he can go out and find a job. Soemwher withheating. Hmm.

JustDanceAddict · 16/01/2023 17:35

totally agree @Raahh - Kirsty is meh and Scarlett’s dad is a waste of space.

Raahh · 16/01/2023 17:38

Some awful wardrobe choices in today's episode. The mother of this pregnant woman is very over bearing.

Raahh · 16/01/2023 17:40

Zara really has no clue.

But Scarlett must have very little money left to get an advance from.

Raahh · 16/01/2023 17:46

I really don't care that Kirsty- who has just turned up-who has arrived with obvious marital problems, and a son being chucked out to the army. We are being bombarded with back story.

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 16/01/2023 17:46

I really thought Scarlett was going to come clean this time.

Then again, her doing that with Zara is really unlikely.

What was with all the bad clothes choices today? That dress that the surrogate was wearing was awful Confused

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 16/01/2023 17:47

And Rich reminds me of an overgrown child a bit.

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 16/01/2023 17:48

Raahh · 12/01/2023 14:33

ICrunch yes! Lucy Benjamin!

Having real problems posting today. It's taking me ages.

@Raahh I thought it was her. I keep getting her confused with Hannah Waterman for some reason 😂🙂

Raahh · 16/01/2023 17:50

Ithink I do think it's time Scarlett came clean to someone.

And she does need to re-think the food bank situation- if they need the help, that's what they are for.

Raahh · 16/01/2023 17:51

ICrucn i know aht you mean about the Hannah Waterman/Lucy Benjamin confusion!

Raahh · 16/01/2023 17:52

Sorry ICrunch I keep mangling your name Grin

Raahh · 16/01/2023 17:54

Ok, the heavy metal dancing was just cringy.

LilyAndTheKing · 16/01/2023 21:26

Not sure about the new receptionist yet, and yeah cringey dancing.

Raahh · 17/01/2023 13:48

I am having real trouble posting

So, food bank episode today then.

Raahh · 17/01/2023 13:56

I love how shocked they are at Zara offering to visit Gobby.

And at Gobby's shocked reaction Grin

Raahh · 17/01/2023 14:02

She really does need support to get the benefits she is probably entitled to.

And now, other end of rhe spectrum, Zara will be packing in work.

Raahh · 17/01/2023 14:04

Oh dear. I get the daughter is upset, but she really is being horrible to her mother. Sad

LIZS · 17/01/2023 14:05

Gobby is not to right person to confide in!
