As one officer said, "it's a juicy one"

Toddlerteaplease · 05/12/2022 21:36

The voice is completely different to the girl being interviewed.

I think they're supposed to be different people

purpleme12 · 05/12/2022 21:44

Wow, listening to this 😮

purpleme12 · 05/12/2022 21:46

His demeanour in the interview!

OneFrenchEgg · 05/12/2022 21:47

It's two different girls. I think one has been pixelated etc to protect her identity.
The second male officer was irritating in the interview.

I think the high pitched girl is his 'mrs' his gf.

Yes that's right because early on she was saying 'he never did this to me'
She never imagined he would do it because he wasn't like that to her referring to the violence

CornishTiger · 05/12/2022 21:59

This is so hard to watch and triggering. Poured a gin.

purpleme12 · 05/12/2022 22:00

He did plead guilty

Munchyseeds2 · 05/12/2022 22:05

The only reason he pled guilty was in the hope of getting a lighter sentence
At least the girls didn't have to go to court

diian · 05/12/2022 22:11

We have two ex-police men that come and talk about online safety in schools around the SE. They make it clear pedophiles/predators tend not to be older men but 20 year olds grooming girls online or in public areas. Very scary.

purpleme12 · 05/12/2022 22:17

it is really scary isn't it

Sidge · 05/12/2022 22:33

It was a tough watch tonight.

He was so prolific - what was it, 22 girls in the space of two to three weeks he’d accumulated and was chatting to? Thousands of sexual images including him having sex with a variety of young women and girls. Just sickening.

I think he preyed on the mothers too, if not sexually he certainly tried to charm them too.

I’m glad he got the sentence he did - he is a very dangerous man.

Most or all crimes on UK statutes have a structure of recommended sentencing.

For the crime of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, the length & type of sentencing is determined by culpability & harm, with additional factors that affect the sentencing outcome,

This approach means that sentencing in the UK is consistent & not at the whim of the Judge after the jury has found the defendant guilty. The Judge may make comment at the sentencing.

Adam White sentence seems to have been at the ‘lighter’ end of the sentencing guidelines for the crime of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

None of us are inclined to favour the would-be burglars, but how quickly would any of us have favoured or donated to Adam White had he struck & injured/killed a pedestrian or other motorists when he lost control of his car?

Still the same man driving the same car in the same way for the same reason - yet had an uninvolved person been hurt or killed, would he be feted in the same way?

I am interested to look at the sentencing guidelines on this as a friend of mine was killed in an accident by a man convicted of dangerous driving. Her two young children were also in the car, thankfully physically unharmed. And he did not receive a custodial sentence. Her family were devastated. But from what you say about a lesser crime, a non-custodial sentence would be light even for injury, so I cannot see how on earth my friend’s killer escaped prison.

anotherdayanotheralias · 06/12/2022 09:49

I think it said at the end that they'd disguised the voices and faces of the victims somehow. It seemed a bit strange.

It's frightening how successful he was picking up vulnerable, impressionable girls and his relentless approach of charm followed by force. Thank God he's off the streets.

DingDangMerrily · 06/12/2022 11:04

Adam White was on this morning today, just watching but him being on implies sympathy.

Spot on, dangerous driving offences rarely carry custodial sentences, especially given his extenuating circumstance.

To those saying he might have killed someone, so might the theives, stolen vehicles are for more likely to be involved in fatal incidences, why weren't the thieves sentenced based on that?

He was sentenced for taking the law into his own hands, a crime he wasn't charged with since it doesn't exist. The law belonge to all of us.

They went from an arrest with intent for GBH to driving charges, as the CPS realized he would be cleared of the first charge.

One of the theives didn't wear a helmet, I suspect as he knew the police will not pursue helmet less motorcycle riders.

Adam White is a hero to me.

abcdefghijkml · 06/12/2022 12:51

Hero? Behave

UniversalAunt · 06/12/2022 16:02

Adam While was charged with ‘causing serious injury by dangerous driving’, which carries a greater tariff than dangerous driving.

@Finallybreathingout I am sorry to hear about your dear friend. it must be frustrating & very upsetting that the driver did face fair punishment.

@Nolongera I see your point, But the fact is that Adam White’s car did hit the motorcycle & changed the path it was on to crash causing the severe injuries to the driver & passenger. The documentary shows the road traffic expert going through the evidence of the crash. Yes the driver of the motorcycle might have hit someone causing severe injury or death, but he didn’t so there is no crime.

Just off to watch this week’s episode.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 06/12/2022 16:13

This week's was tough viewing. Important to show that it's not always "dirty, old men in online chat rooms" though.

I kind of understand why they do this, but it's always so difficult to see the police being chummy with the accused :(

I hate all the 'all right mate, how are you' at the check in desk.

They just don't need to do that.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 06/12/2022 16:44

Yes, and I don’t know why they don’t say “I’m not your mate. You call me PC…”

Even as a teacher, dealing with teens in trouble I’d say the equivalent. In fact, as a teacher I was struck by how we got more respect from students than visiting PCs and PCSO. I don’t think teens want more “mates”. They want adults with boundaries.

abcdefghijkml · 06/12/2022 16:46

I would like to see the police in plain clothes wearing something more smart. Something that commands a bit more respect and knock off all the mating. Agree on the boundaries.
