You know what I mean. Woman gets an inn (left in a will/wins/buys). Goes to a quaint town. Meets attractive but annoying man blah blah.
Very cheesy but I like them! Is it too early to start watching them? I want to see them all! Anyone with me?

Skipping Christmas is funny too
They are made to feel terrible for not wanting to do Christmas that year !
( how I feel most Christmas's )

This is one of my favourite 'traditional watch near Christmas' films. But it has to be the 1947 Natalie Wood version and not one of the re-makes.

this 100%. The re-makes are shocking!

I also adore the old version of Scrooge with Alistair Sim. Released in 1951 and in black and white. It is brilliant.

My other fav oldies are White Christmas and the very obscure Bell Book and Candle (I have it on dvd and hang on to my old dvd player purely for christmas films)

And it's not Christmas without It''s a wonderful life.
I still cry at every watch

Luckily DD (Uni age) is a convert to the oldies so I can revel in them with her !

I love these films! I've seen lots of them a few times but I can never remember any names though.

I like the type where it's a woman with a struggling bakery who is an amazing cook or owns a cute little book store and a handsome, corperate baddy from the big city comes and threatens it!
He sees the error of his ways, quits his company and they live happily ever after 😍

I don't even like romantic films or books wnd avoid them at any other time of the year 😂

If anyone is interested..... I’m going to try to slowly make my way through the list 😂

Hope they are on Prime, Netflix or 5!

I'm currently watching Crown for Christmas🙄
Perhaps I can fit another one in tonight

Alternatively enjoy.
'Deck the Halls' is still on Netflix- which makes me happy. It's daft- but i love it. Danny De Vito and Matthew Broderick arguing over Christmas decorations.
Also Nativity!- may absolute, so bad it's brilliant, Christmas guilty pleasure film (number 2 isn't on there, sadly- 3 and 4 are not worth watching!)Grin

I love that film too.

EllieQ · 07/11/2022 18:17

Not a Hallmark film, but While You Were Sleeping with Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman is a lovely Xmas film.

beachcitygirl · 07/11/2022 18:36

Back to Christmas was another hallMark time travel Christmas movie that is fabulous!! Heartbroken singleton gets a chance for a Christmas do over

Or

Just in time for Christmas

Lindsay has to decide between small town beau or big city job & gets the chance to peek into the future to see what her Christmas will be like in 3 years time with either decision x

Enjoy!!

KittenKong · 07/11/2022 18:38

Wasn’t there one with John Denver in Smalltown USA? I forget the plot…

Guinefort · 07/11/2022 18:42

Thanks to this thread I have found the Christmas film section on the Channel 5 app. Currently enjoying The Christmas Clock 😃 it's a good one!

Guinefort · 07/11/2022 18:45

Apologies I just invented a Christmas film 🤣 it's actually called "A Timeless Christmas" but in my defence it does have a Christmas clock in it!

MadgeMarple · 07/11/2022 18:59

Oh I love Cheesy Christmas Films.
Can't get Sony Christmas channel but have added lots to my list on Netflix and there is the C5 afternoon films too.

Magic ingredients: stranded woman / small town/ she changes things / well likes by everyone / meets local lad etc / snow / log cabin / hot choc / cookies.

Watched my first of the season yesterday - Christmas Under Wraps on Netflix. T'was lovely.

This was on Channel 5 last week.
Predictable, cheesy, full of plastic looking people......bloody fantastic!

I’ve become addicted to Hallmark Christmas films....it’s becoming a bit of a worry. What am I going to do in January??

The Christmas Clock is lovely and the actor is beautiful. I don't like beards but he is just gorgeous. Hits his head wakes up in the future, you know the rest.

Ryan Paevey. Can't really go wrong with a Ryan film.

Planning to watch Christmas at Castle Hart this evening.

Still don't know why Netflix haven't done a sequel to the Knight before Christmas yet.

Loads on Amazon Prime too - I'd recommend The Mistletoe Promise.

boys3 · 07/11/2022 20:27

Andrew Walker is another Hallmark stalwart who I'm quite partial too.

Usually.

Channel 5 has An Unforgettable Christmas with Andrew. It is very forgettable. Even I have to draw the line somewhere.

Whilst not strictly Christmas (more general winter) the One Winter Weekend trilogy of films with Taylor Cole are worth a watch.

Another closet watcher here!

My fav is “ spirit of Christmas” a good looking ghost comes back to the inn his family own every Xmas eve, he got murdered there on Xmas eve and he comes back for 12 days every year and a city girls stays over Xmas to sell the inn as his last live family member died and fall in love 😍

This is my absolute favourite of the cheesy Christmas movies - I genuinely added the fact I had this recorded to my list of pros for keeping Sky.

I'm not even a closet watcher, everyone knows I've been watching cheesy Christmas movies for months.

😆 my hubby knows not to delete it from our planner!! It’s been on there for a few years now and it’s still the best out out the cheesy Xmas films! I might watch it tomorrow actually 😍

Vanillalime · 07/11/2022 21:14

I love a Channel 5 Christmas film. The cheesier the better 😅

I snuggled on the sofa on Saturday & watched A Christmas Nutcracker which was really enjoyable.

I agree the Mrs Miracle films are good & I also like films starring Alicia Witt - she’s great!

Christmas On The Square was a particular highlight last year - with Dolly Parton playing the angel. The song Wickedest Witch of the Middel is a real bop 🤪

oneuponedown · 07/11/2022 21:18

I also want to start early with these types of films to make the festive period longer!

I'm currently on mat leave so days on the sofa with a blanket and cheesy Xmas films are calling!

diddl · 08/11/2022 08:11

I also watched A Castle for Christmas last night so I'm 2 down!😂

KittenKong · 08/11/2022 08:15

Does the nighttime before Christmas count?

BaconAndAvocado · 08/11/2022 08:18

Yes, Ryan Paevey is very very easy on the Christmas 😍

The Dolly Parton film Christmas on the Square is a corker and fulfills the main criteria for a good, cheesy Christmas movie - it’s so bad it’s good 🤣🤣

Today’s Channel 5 offering, A Sugar and Spice Christmas sounds promising. Hope Ryan Paevey is in it!

BaconAndAvocado · 08/11/2022 08:19

KittenKong · 08/11/2022 08:15

Does the nighttime before Christmas count?

If you mean the Nightmare Before Christmas, then definitely not! It’s far too high quality 😂

AssumingDirectControl · 08/11/2022 08:20

Me and my husband watch Christmas Magic every year because of the truly corny ending, which we love because it’s so terrible.

Also a fan of the one about a fireman and a cat.
