You know what I mean. Woman gets an inn (left in a will/wins/buys). Goes to a quaint town. Meets attractive but annoying man blah blah.
Very cheesy but I like them! Is it too early to start watching them? I want to see them all! Anyone with me?

A castle for Christmas on Netflix is awfully entertaining. Brooke Shields stars

Raahh · 28/11/2022 10:53

diddl Grin That film always makes me laugh. Mariah was born to be a bitchy PTA 'mom'. Grin. The song at the end is an annoying ear worm ,though- and oddly, when we asked Alexa to play Christmas music the other day it played that one!

Oh dear wtf happened to Mario Lopez’s face in Gift Shop Xmas! Soooo much Botox and fillers

Awful. And too much make up.

HashtagShitShop · 28/11/2022 17:56

thanks to the football, I'm getting through LOADS of Christmas films - both Hallmark and 'standard'.

I also had a copy of this book too which I loved to match up the ones I'd read - www.amazon.co.uk/Ill-Home-Christmas-Movies-Obsession/dp/0762499354/ref=asc_df_0762499354/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=535211116301&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5006192607632450269&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046237&hvtargid=pla-1193156815604&psc=1&th=1&psc=1

There is a podcast too (by the makers of the book) - www.deckthehallmark.com/ Haven't listened to it yet. It, like the book, is three blokes watching the same Hallmark movie and giving their opinions/takes on it. Including the 'WTF?!' moments that we also have (in the book at least).

Trouble is there’s also now the GAC channel which a lot of the stars have moved too.
and I have to steer away from a lot of their ducked up beliefs and views on certain things.

kateandme · 29/11/2022 20:34

Ha typical one today.royal falls for normal but beautiful souled lady.

swirlypinky · 30/11/2022 15:35

I never knew how mnay films there were about a royal prince/princess moves to (insert New York borough) and falls in love with a humbe and poor peasant due to their selfless heart

boys3 · 30/11/2022 19:23

Has the Beeb joined the Hallmark party? Selected a film through Prime that took me to I- player.

Christmas in toyland or words to that effect. Corporates closing down toy shops being the basic premise.

I’ve now found another via the same route. Heart of Christmas. Not really grabbing me, but at 90 minutes I’ll plough on through. Take one for the thread.

diddl · 30/11/2022 20:29

The "Royal" ones are generally quite funny.

So much curtseying & deference!

Watched one recently in which the Prince was constantly called "Sire".

Oh & arranged marriages seem to be par for the course!

Elderflower14 · 30/11/2022 21:28

Mum and I watched Family Christmas Gift.... It had Patti Labelle singing in it... Recommend!!

kateandme · 30/11/2022 21:51

I just watched the toy shop one on the iplayer. Wasn't the best but it wasn't dreadful either. I'm sure plenty of people will day that it's a waste of license payers money. Seen worse and I like to know that there's a couple like that on iplayer. In case i fancy watching one and Amazon and Netflix aren't playing ball.

RhubarbStrawberry · 01/12/2022 00:28

I like A Yorkshire/Very British Christmas with Michele Dotrice/Ooh Betty.
A Nutcracker Christmas. Nice to see the ballet as they use real ballet dancers.

ShakeYourFeathers · 01/12/2022 22:39

Watching an absolute clanger called Angel Falls Christmas on Netflix. Not sure I like the ones with a magic element in it. HAs Chad Micheal Murray and Jessica Lowndes from 90210 in it

FloresApparuerunt · 02/12/2022 10:15

My favourite is on Amazon Prime - it's called Love at the Parade, and it's technically about a Thanksgiving parade but it's the same sort of cheese (and features a Santa).

I also like Christmas Under Wraps, about the Big Shot Doctor who moves to Alaska under duress and finds out how to slow down and appreciate the small things.

TheLostNights · 02/12/2022 14:45

There was one I watched called 'Hats off for Christmas " which I loved a few years back. So far I have only watched 'Falling for Christmas' on Netflix. Was pretty good.

FloresApparuerunt · 02/12/2022 14:57

I'm now watching Royally Wrapped for Christmas. The accents are atrocious. I keep saying 'Maldonia' in a really exaggerated way and making the baby laugh.

RhubarbStrawberry · 02/12/2022 18:26

Im watching A Cinderella Story on netflix. It's quite entertaining

RhubarbStrawberry · 02/12/2022 18:28

It's called A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish from 2019

MrsMitford3 · 02/12/2022 19:05

I watched the Cinderella one yesterday-very enjoyable

@FloresApparuerunt what is Royally Wrapped? Is it Queen Amber?

FloresApparuerunt · 02/12/2022 19:14

@MrsMitford3 No - it's Prince Aidan of Maldonia, who meets a New York gift wrapping specialist (as far as I can glean, this is her career) and is struck by her generous, loving spirit. It features a snowman called Willard.

lovescats3 · 02/12/2022 19:23

I'm worried I'm getting addicted to these films 😂

Xmasbaby11 · 02/12/2022 20:30

I'm watching Angel Falls Christmas. it is truly dreadful and full of cliches. I am loving it so much! Just the sight of the overdressed American houses and everyone wearing red and green throughout December really cheers me up!
