and I loved it even more this time, it's just so lovely! If you haven't watched it, do.

I can't seem to find anything to watch-I've seen and loved: Mum; Gavin and Stacey; After Life; Friday Night Dinner, and Worzel
Gummidge.

Would love some suggestions 😊

Starstruck was also very sweet
Love outlaws and two doors down too

figmaofmyimagination · 23/09/2022 21:41

Love this thread!
Man Down and Superstore are my contributions :)

WinterCarlisle · 23/09/2022 22:17

Another one that I really like for easy watching is The Windsors. It’s absolute nonsense but so easy

BrocoliTrees · 24/09/2022 00:25

Is anyone desperate for another series of Mothland? 🤞

This is a lovely series to go back to

And the comedy about a woman newly out of prison called Miri... can't remember what it's called

Back to Life, the prison one.

JanePrentiss · 24/09/2022 08:49

This is really old, it used to ge on channel 4 and I have it on dvd, but check out Jam and Jerusalem - first series ok but 2 and 3 are brilliant... Wish it would get replayed or listed on All 4 as it is perfect mix of gentle comedy with bittersweet moments.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/09/2022 08:55

agree with poster above, Ghosts, is just like a Hug

also enjoyed so many mentioned here
Back to life
mum
Here we go
outlaws

itrytomakemyway · 24/09/2022 09:05

Great thread - and a timely reminder of how much great British comedy there is out there.

I love The Detectorists. So comforting, brilliants writing and a great cast. I can't wait for the Christmas special.

Ghosts gets watched and rewatched in this house. Not surprised it is so good as it is from the same stable as the sublime Horrible Histories.

So gald someone mentioned Rev. It is dark in parts, but so well observed. If you know anything at all about the church and the people who work in it then it is an absolute gem.

We also love Taskmaster. Discovered Friday Night Dinner during lockdown and was so sad when we reached the final episode that it was all over.

Then of course we also have Derry Girls, The IT Crowd, Carshare, Father Ted..... spoilt for choice.

I have not watched the Windsors yet, but that is next on my binge list.

I've never watched it. It's on my list!

I second Two doors down on iplayer, I've rewatched many times and still enjoy it.

I also recommend Home on C4, made me laugh and cry at the same time but i never see it recommened for some reason.

Thank you for recommending Home. I'm really enjoying it, very sweet

BeBraveLittlePenguin · 29/09/2022 08:42

Ooh Detectorists special may resolve the long standing argument in this house about whether they actually found the gold or not!

GottaGetOutofDairy · 29/09/2022 08:44

Am I Being Unreasonable? (named after the mn thread!)

I really enjoyed it.

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 29/09/2022 22:54

The young offenders on bbc iPlayer

Wallabyone · 10/10/2022 23:16

Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the recommendations, but also that I'm thoroughly enjoying Ghosts...what a brilliant series!😍

@Wallabyone
I have just finished watching Detectorists thanks to your thread. I have loved every one. I am disproportionately disappointed I’ve run out of episodes.

Ghosts is brilliant isn’t it? I’m looking forward to their Christmas special.

I’m going to have a proper read through this thread for other recommendations.

Letsrunabath · 20/11/2022 14:49

Thanks for the recommendations

What? Of course they did-they walked underneath the magpie nest as the coins were falling out during the end credits?

SheWoreARaspberryBeret123 · 20/11/2022 17:24

The Durrells
6 Feet Under
The Crown
Life in Pieces
Parks & Rec

Wallabyone · 20/11/2022 17:33

@RememberedForAllTheWrongReasons So glad you enjoyed it!

I loved Ghosts so much; my ten year old son has just finished the series on my recommendation and he also loved it (mostly ok for his age, with me having to explain Julian's death in a sort of age-appropriate way 🙈). I think he would enjoy Detectorists but I can't quite remember if there's any inappropriate stuff in it.

Something I watched recently which others on this thread may enjoy is 'Am I being unreasonable?' Very watchable, dark comedy.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but I’ve heard The Detectorists is back with a feature-length episode at Christmas.

FreddieDeLaHay · 20/11/2022 17:49

It is! I follow a Facebook page which had info and photos of the filming round Suffolk
Apparently the cast were lovely and more than happy to pose for photos
Looking forward to watching 😊

Squirrelsnut · 20/11/2022 17:54

Roger and Val Have Just Got In with Alfred Molina and Dawn French.
Rev.
Jam and Jerusalem.
Wild West (really weird but funny comedy set in Cornwall, from about 2000).

CaveMum · 20/11/2022 17:58

@Wallabyone from memory there’s a bit of swearing in Detectorists IIRC, so it depends on how you feel about your DS hearing that. BBFC classify it as a 15 rating for strong language.

BooseysMom · 20/11/2022 18:04

pisspants · 20/09/2022 23:14

The Cleaner with Greg Davis is also ace

Oh I'd torgotten that! Yes it's brilliant and I will re-watch it so thanks for mentioning it 😊

CaveMum · 20/11/2022 18:12

There’s a new series of Staged dropping shortly, but annoyingly it’s only available on BritBox 😤 We’ve already got subscriptions for Netflix, Amazon and Disney and I refuse to get another one!
