and I loved it even more this time, it's just so lovely! If you haven't watched it, do.

I can't seem to find anything to watch-I've seen and loved: Mum; Gavin and Stacey; After Life; Friday Night Dinner, and Worzel
Gummidge.

Would love some suggestions 😊

Also as pp says “Stath Lets Flats” on C4. I wasn’t keen at first but halfway through the first series loved it. Like Detectorists it’s wry, character based comedy.

Haggisfish3 · 21/09/2022 07:17

Uncle is a great unknown series.

Detectorists is just so great. Just keep rewatching it?! Only discovered it a couple of years ago, and then watched with teen DC, and they keep wanting to watch it again, so we do.

Ghosts has a similar feel to me. Love it too.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 21/09/2022 07:27

Yes! Detectorists is just the best!

ShirtingForkBalls · 21/09/2022 07:29

Have you watched The Durrells op? It's lovely 😊

Mooserp · 21/09/2022 07:30

A Detectorists special has just been filmed 😊

Giggorata · 21/09/2022 07:38

Another one who loves the Detectorists here.
I shall take a look at some of the suggestions above that I haven't seen yet, thank you all.
I’d like to add dinnerladies to the list.

Him & Her, Uncle

WinterCarlisle · 21/09/2022 07:47

What We Do In The Shadows is a bit different from the others but sooooooo funny.

The Windsors is also an easy watch and funny

SimonaRazowska · 21/09/2022 07:58

We love detectorists

Also This Country, but I had to persevere with that as I found it depressing to start with (almost too real?) then I relaxed a bit and I ended up laughing out loud (especially Mandy's book club and anything to do with Mandy 😁), and the vicar! Now it's one of my faves

selfieseptember · 21/09/2022 08:01

The Detectorists is brilliant in its subtle reveal of male friendship and emotions. You might like Gone Fishing for the same. I love this attention to male relationships, of silences and looks and 'superficial' humour which speak volumes. The fragility of emotions is exposed in the very lines they speak and don't speak: its reliance on them doing something else to mask their feelings is pure classic.

Lzzyisgod · 21/09/2022 08:04

Oh I love dectetorists too

I watch a programme years ago called The Great Outdoors with Ruth Jones in about a walking club. Only 4 episodes but similar in feel That was BBC so might be on iplayer. Might rewatch it myself.

CosmopolitanPlease · 21/09/2022 08:10

I agree re; This Country, Ghosts and Mum.

I very much urge you all to watch Mandy on iPlayer. Diane Morgan in the title role with fantastic guest stars including Sean Lock Sad

It's hilarious, silly and at times touching. We watch it as a family with our 15 year old granddaughter and all enjoy it.

Dogmatix34 · 21/09/2022 08:11

Lady parts on Channel 4 is brilliant- very sweet and great acting. I like all the same shows as you!
Also, what about 2 doors down?

CosmopolitanPlease · 21/09/2022 08:11

Oh and Alma's Not Normal is really good too! I hope there's a second series.

Dogmatix34 · 21/09/2022 08:13

Sorry, realised it’s called We are Lady Parts- don’t let the name put you off, it’s about a Muslim all women rock group and the characters are really well drawn.

pinok · 21/09/2022 08:58

PP reminded me of Big Boys (channel 4 I think?) absolutely loved that

pisspants · 21/09/2022 09:40

Chewing Gum with Michelle Coel is also brilliant and along similar lines.
This thread is reminding me of so many great series I need to re-watch!

OwlDoll · 21/09/2022 09:56

I love Here We Go with Jim Howick from Ghosts and Katherine Parkinson and Alison Steadman.

WinterCarlisle · 21/09/2022 11:34

@Dogmatix34 We are Lady Parts is AWESOME. Would totally recommend too

CherryogDog · 22/09/2022 07:42

This Country had me in stitches! The Cockfields is funny, but the Christmas special had me blabbing.
I can't remember the name but the series about a group doing community service (with Christopher Walken) was very funny too.

Neveranynamesleft · 22/09/2022 22:49

The Tuckers is def worth a watch. Starring Steve Speirs, think it was on iplayer.

ShirleyJackson · 22/09/2022 22:54

Avoidance was excellent. Similar feel to Mum.
