and I loved it even more this time, it's just so lovely! If you haven't watched it, do.

I can't seem to find anything to watch-I've seen and loved: Mum; Gavin and Stacey; After Life; Friday Night Dinner, and Worzel
Gummidge.

Would love some suggestions 😊

Oh we love to watch the detectorists in the dead of winter as it was filmed mostly in beautiful summer weather

MikeWozniaksMoustache · 22/09/2022 23:12

Also recommending The Cleaner and The Cockfields.

Bloody love The Detectorists. I need to rewatch it in preparation for the new feature length ep. Keeping fingers crossed it’ll be good!

Furtheron · 22/09/2022 23:16

Lovesick was amazing, from so it might be on all4?
Johnny Flynn, who plays the main character, sings the theme tune for detectorists!

PickAChew · 22/09/2022 23:16

Isn't there a detectorists follow up being made?

Loved This Country (I lived somewhere just like that) and The Outlaws is excellent. The other one was fun and really sweet. Have also enjoyed Here We Go.

It's much quieter but we're watching Marriage, at the moment. Some of the critics simply don't understand it.

We're alternating that with Suurmestari which is Finnish Taskmaster 😁

lugeforlife · 23/09/2022 08:39

@CherryogDog The Outlaws! Love that, all on Iplayer (Bristol girl here so love the locations).

Big Boys seemed to go quite under the radar but I loved it - another amazing look at male friendship.

I think its Back to life where the main character has just come out of prison. That's great too. Rev is back on iplayer as well.

Also second we are ladyparts. Ted Lasso or Trying in you have Apple TV?

Yes, a Detectorists special has just been filmed. Maybe being shown at Christmas?

hellswelshy · 23/09/2022 09:40

Love Detectorists ❤️ I've just started rewatching too, as a lead up to the Christmas special. Thanks to everyone for the other recommendations, may try Ghosts next. Just rewatched Chewing Gum which was great, forgot how funny it was!!

lugeforlife · 23/09/2022 10:17

@hellswelshy Ghosts is my favourite thing on tv for years. Try it and before long you will be wearing a simple lobster hat like the rest of us.

It's like a hug (I have been known to cry it's so lovely - redding weddy especially).

hellswelshy · 23/09/2022 11:04

Thanks lugeforlife - that's exactly how Detectorists feels for me, a hug! The sunshine, the gentle subtle humour... I feel similar about Schitts Creek too. Ghosts firmly on my watch list, will report back 😊

Wallabyone · 23/09/2022 15:15

I'm going to start Ghosts this weekend too! Thank you all so much for the recommendations-so many!x

I came on to say Rev. A strange tone but it's great once you get into it. I think it might be Olivia Colman's finest hour, and I love Simon McBurney as the archdeacon.

And the one with Jo Brand as a nurse, is it called Getting On? That's excellent too.

CaveMum · 23/09/2022 17:10

Yet another vote for Ghosts here!

Also agree with The Outlaws and would add Motherland and Upstart Crow to the list.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 23/09/2022 17:12

I've never heard of Ghosts. I need to take a look if so many people raving about it.

Skiphopbump · 23/09/2022 17:20

15 storeys high

JessieOh · 23/09/2022 17:21

I second Two doors down on iplayer, I've rewatched many times and still enjoy it.

I also recommend Home on C4, made me laugh and cry at the same time but i never see it recommened for some reason.

I've never heard of Ghosts. I need to take a look if so many people raving about it.

It’s written by the team behind Horrible Histories and the bulk of the cast of “ghosts” all appeared in the earlier series of HH.

Basic premise - young couple inherit a rundown country house from a distant relative, which turns out to be haunted by a variety of ghosts including a caveman, a romantic poet, a woman burned for being a witch, a WWI officer, a Scout master and a disgraced 80s politician.

CaveMum · 23/09/2022 17:33

First episode of Ghosts - www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00049t7

This Country.
I've only seen the first The Outlaws but it's good.

I’m halfway through the second series of The Outlaws. It really is very good isn’t it?

I fancied the detectorists when it was first released but I don’t think we had access to it at the time. I will definitely have a look for it now.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 23/09/2022 17:37

Thanks, @CaveMum! It sounds fun. I'll watch the first episode this evening Smile

CaveMum · 23/09/2022 17:46

Hope you enjoy it @MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake, it’s a gentle comedy - no sex or swearing - so you could easily watch it with children, any risqué jokes (usually involving Julian the MP!) would go over their heads!

trulyconfuseddotcom · 23/09/2022 17:47

Another recommendation for We Are Lady Parts, really loved it and delighted to read that another series has been commissioned.

CaveMum · 23/09/2022 17:51

Ooh, another recommendation I’ve just thought of:

Staged - a piece of genius to come out of lockdown. Michael Sheen and David Tennant playing themselves over Zoom chats. Bloody hilarious, and each episode is pretty short so easy to binge!

Only downside is it’s not on iPlayer anymore so you have to buy it on Prime 😤

canyouextrapol · 23/09/2022 18:29

I always recommend "the good place" to people. Nice light entertainment :)

BestIsWest · 23/09/2022 19:01

Ted Lasso?

Detectorists is so lovely though. We’re on our third rewatch this year.

Mum with Lesley Manville

This is a lovely series to go back to

And the comedy about a woman newly out of prison called Miri... can't remember what it's called
