Oh god, that made me proper cry. My dad died in November and we had quite a complicated relationship, so it hit me right in the feels.

Have to say I came on this thread before I watched the episode (forgot it was on tonight and saw the thread bumped in my Threads I’m On!), with everyone saying they were in tears I was worried someone else had been sucked off😜

Goss for anyone who watched and liked the US version - Matthew Baynton has a cameo in it in Series 2. In episode 7, shown last month, a camera crew come to film an episode of stupid Dumb Deaths. Pete is upset his family will see it, as the actor playing him in the reconstruction is an arse.
He is being played by...Matthew!
They asked Jim first (in-joke that actor playing Pat would be playing not the real Pete) but he turned it down so they contacted Matthew.

Absolutely loved it and wanted more than 29 minutes. Cried like a baby too

I'm so happy Ghosts is still meeting the top standard it set itself. So often these TV shows slide downhill but it's just as fantastic as ever. It was a really beautiful Xmas special <3

Watched it earlier & properly sobbed. My first Christmas without my beloved Dad & it just got to me.

Just watched it, ghosts really is just the most wonderful TV show. Lots of tears here, and not just at pat's story - I was even welling up when the captain gave kitty the pep talk and then when he appeared as the fairy godmother. I'd happily pay my TV licence just for ghosts 👻❤

I thought it hit the right spot as Christmas is a hugely sentimental time and many of us are carrying on the daft wee traditions from our own childhood Christmas.

Although I did laugh at the captain’s excitement over the game of Risk!

I love 'Ghosts' and it was a very touching episode.

Does anyone else think they need another female ghost? Mary is such a miss now she has been 'sucked off'. I keep thinking she'll re-appear but I think not really. There is a gap for a female ghost- the balance isn't right. Not sure how they'd get one as someone would have to die in the house, or have already died and not yet been seen by the other ghosts and suddenly appear. I think it needs to be an historical character as Pat, Julien and the Captain are all 20th century ghosts. I can't see how a 21st century ghost would fit- too close to Mike and Alison.

I suppose they could have an attic ghost like the US version-but one none of the others has met yet. Have they ever mentioned going up to an attic? Maybe a tragic bride who was jilted and killed herself then stayed up there depressed ever since. Maybe she and Thomas could fall in love?

They have been up in the attic to get Christmas stuff- Fanny organised it and took Alison. I wondered about something like that- a walled off room or wing or something. I suppose the alternative is someone staying in the house dies- I wondered about Mike, which could work quite nicely I thought, but of course that's another man and it's a woman they need.

Perhaps they could uncover another cellar and a Roman mosaic and find the wife of a Roman general, or perhaps a Boudica like character from Saxon England could somehow appear, or.... a suffragette (but that's 20th century again) , or a Medieval nun. They need another female ghost.

How about somewhere on the grounds?

Heard a lot about this series so binging my way through. Halfway through season 2. Really enjoyable and actually touching in some parts! Glad there is plenty to get through!
