I had to sort out DD2- and didn't realise the thread was full.

I think Diego's kit might be green and yellow,

They are all good human persons aren't they? Casper was joking he doesn't want to face another Spaniard in a slam final Grin
It's quite a contrast to your Dicks and Djoks Grin

Does anyone know how we can watch the Davis Cup, is it only Eurosport?

IceandIndigo · 14/09/2022 10:41

kazza I think Davis Cup is only on Eurosport. I get frustrated with so much being on Eurosport because I can't subscribe to it on my TV, and the tie-in via Prime is so much worse than the actual Eurosport player.

kazzaD66 · 14/09/2022 20:54

Thanks Ice
I've seen that it's on the BBC Sport website, not that I've had a chance to watch. Dan lost a close match to Paul, who I really can't warm to, and Cam has just won the tie break to take it to a decider. Apparently Andy is playing doubles with Joe after.

Raahh · 15/09/2022 14:36

I think Federer has just announced his retirement.

I can't workout if this means he is not playing at the Laver Cup or not, and it's not exactly unexpected. I wonder if he would have liked to have retired at the end of 2019- go on on a high? Hindsight is a wonderful thing though.

The guard is defintely changing.

Now I've read it properly- Laver Cup will be his last event- which makes sense, it's his 'baby' after all.

Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't know it was on the BBC!

Yes Federer has said the Laver Cup will be his final ATP event. I guess he's not evolving...

JaneJeffer · 15/09/2022 14:47

I think his heart's not in it any more. He seems to prefer hanging out with his dog these days.

JaneJeffer · 15/09/2022 14:51

Simona has had a nose op. I think she had sinus problems but also said she didn't like her nose so got it "fixed" at the same time. It looked perfectly lovely to me!

Raahh · 15/09/2022 14:57

None of that evolving rubbish for Roger, no.Grinnice clean break.

To be fair, since Spring 2020, he has barely played apart from a few matches last year. I don't think he is the type who would ever be truly happy with turning up to tournaments he would need wildcards for- and probably losing early. There's no shame in it finishing now. And no use pretending he was ever going to be able to compete with the likes of Alcaraz.

He waited for Sue to retire first Grinprobably didn't want to face her successor.

It's all happening in 22, isn't?

I read about her breathing issues and her nose op Jane . I hope she's OK. She has such potential career wise to win loads of slams- but there always seems to be something that stops her. Sad

She said she was about to quit until Patrick Mouratoglou became her coach.

ChessieFL · 15/09/2022 17:38

Roger retiring is hardly unexpected but I still feel a bit sad about it! It’s a shame that his last Wimbledon match wasn’t a better one. Hopefully he plays well at the Laver Cup.

kazzaD66 · 15/09/2022 17:59

I wonder if he'll even be fit enough to play or whether he'll just be there to drop pearls of wisdom in the ears of Stef and Casper Grin

No negative face!!! Grin
Rafa has posted a lovely message and still intends to be at the Laver Cup.

Raahh · 15/09/2022 18:23

kazza last week there were reports that his knee was still an issue, so I really didn't expect him to play. As I said at the time, I'm not sure he can turn up as a non- playing team member- but to be honest- it's Roger. I think they would make an exception. GrinI was half expecting a last minute Carlos addition.

Rafa's message is lovely- and you know he means it.
I'm nice really that Roger has done it this way- the Laver Cup can be a celebration of his career, without it taking away from the event. It will probably be a lot of fun.

Oh I’m feeling quite sad about Roger retiring - I know it was inevitable but I think it would have been nice for him to have said a proper farewell especially at Wimbledon (I did like how his speech was over 4 minutes long though Grin). Him and Sue retiring at the same time might have been a bit too much!

I love Rafa’s Instagram post and the pictures (especially the one of Roger’s cardi!) I like to think that when Rog was talking about the rivalries he enjoyed he meant Rafa rather than Djok!

It is definitely the changing of the guard (and yes I’m sure Roger saw Alcaraz and thought he didn’t want to come up against him)

JaneGrin That's brilliant.

That's when you know you've arrived. Next step- someone has a tattoo of his face on their shoulder- but it will look more like Sue Barker.

I've just seen that Jo Konta gave birth to a baby girl last week-Emmeline. So congratulations to her.

So many tennis babies happening this year.
