Currently rewatching Mindhunter. Absolutely brilliant show and I could watch it again and again
I can't believe it's been cancelled and we won't see a series 3 ☹️ apparently it costs too much to make, although I really can't see it costs that much especially with shows like stranger things which must cost millions!

What other series are you gutted have been cancelled?

OP posts:

Alphas
Falling water
Altered carbon
American gods

ladygindiva · 16/08/2022 22:44

Sorry if already mentioned but Ripper Street was my favourite programme of all time.

ZenNudist · 16/08/2022 22:53

Girl boss. Was bit annoying at first but got into it and sad that it ended so quickly just because it had an unlikeable female lead. It actually passed the Bechdel test. Shows with problematic male leads are successful all the time. Just felt misogynistic that they cancelled it so quickly.

Moomoo2o22 · 16/08/2022 23:12

Another one for homefires I loved it, read the follow up books but it wasn't the same!

glowingtwig · 16/08/2022 23:16

I really loved Me and Mrs Jones, I thought it was great. And there was never a second series so we never got to find out which direction she went at the traffic lights 😩

SelfMadeWoman · 16/08/2022 23:17

I'd love another series of Shtisel and more Endeavour.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 16/08/2022 23:29

As many have said The OA.

It really struck a chord in me and I was overinvested

It's one of those I will still whinge about 5-10 years time

Otherwise the one that stands out to me is the series they did at the anniversary of WW1, about nurses, called The Crimson Field. It was very Call The Midwifey but it was good and deserved more.

Code Black. Loved that show, but no else seemed to watch it (probably who it was cancelled!)

I loved Code Black, where did Neal and Christa go though?

Also The Night Shift.

Rhubarb01 · 16/08/2022 23:58

I'm just going to second:

Home Fires
The Crimson Field
The Hour
Timeless

All finished too early and some with unfinished storylines/cliffhangers. Timeless did at least get given a chance to round things off with an extended finale, but there was scope for much more in all of these series.

Atlantis - it was such a brilliant cast and we had no resolution to the story line - I'm still baffled by them axing it like that.
And The Coroner, with Clare Goose - I watched it partly for the fabulous scenery, but her relationship with the policeman was interesting and we never found out where that went.
Grrr to both

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 17/08/2022 23:59

Lots already mentioned, but I need help with this one.

A load of people woke up in a hotel in the middle of nowhere. They didn't know how they got there or what they had in common. They got fed every night in a Chinese restaurant. They tried to leave the town but there was a forcefield (?) that stopped them leaving.

The last episode gave a taster of the next series, same premise but on an oil rig. Any guesses?

LetHimHaveIt · 18/08/2022 06:32

Absolutely agree with 'Mindhunter' and 'The Coroner'. Clare Goose's mum, stepdad and daughter we're varying degrees of bloody irritating, but she was excellent.

'Freaks and Geeks', obviously.

'G.L.O.W'

'Good Girls' - apparently it was a combo of being too expensive, and a somewhat antagonist relationship between 'Rio' and much of the female cast.

I even quite liked that 'Armchair Detective' bollocks with Susan Calman.

LetHimHaveIt · 18/08/2022 06:34

I quite liked 'Tru Calling' and 'Ringer'. I just think SMG is so good and don't quite understand why so many of her pilots/series fail.

LetHimHaveIt · 18/08/2022 06:35

I thought 'The Murder Game' was tosh, but 'Murder in Small Town X' upon which it was based, was much better. Very sadly, the winner - a firefighter - was killed on September 11th, about a month after the series was aired.

@BBitterAndTwistedChoreDodger

Persons Unknown?

SphincterSaysWhat · 18/08/2022 06:43

The Santa Clarita Diet.

Aspergirl77 · 18/08/2022 06:45

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 16/08/2022 10:34

Definitely Agent Carter - so good! I haven't even finished the two seasons they did make, because I know it will make me cross.

Also Daredevil, although I live in hope that might come back.

Daredevil is coming back - Spring 2024 phase 5 of the MCU 😁

BlindyPeakers · 18/08/2022 06:50

GLOW - I'm still so invested in the potential relationship between Ruth and Sam and now I'll never find out what happens.

Fieldfly · 18/08/2022 06:57

Flash forward, spooks, my name is earl, but mainly Quacks, which was brilliant but only one series. We also rather liked ultimate force (farce).

BasiliskStare · 18/08/2022 12:33

Oh @Fieldfly - DS & I watched Quacks and laughed like drains. I would love another series of that.

Whataretheodds · 18/08/2022 12:34

Loved Quacks

PeppaPigIsBacon · 18/08/2022 12:38

Kindofcrunchy · 16/08/2022 13:59

Bit obscure but I really think they should've made more seasons of The Murder Game, a reality show back from the early 00s where the contestants had to solve a fictional homicide case for a cash prize. Absolutely gripping, really scary and hilarious at times - can't believe they didn't make more of it. You can at least find a shit VHS copy of all the episodes on YouTube.

Yes! I loved that show but hardly anyone seems to remember it.

hugoagogo · 18/08/2022 12:47

Studio 60 on the Sunset StripSad

ZimZamZoom · 18/08/2022 12:56

I haven't RTFT but there was a programme called Travellers that ended abruptly and I still dream about it sometimes.

I didn't realise Mindhunter had been cancelled 😪
