I had forgotten how odd the Hamburg trophy is. Feels like Deja vu, as I'm sure we've discussed that before, I'm sure the yellow bits symbolise/mean something, but I've no idea

Jane it was good- I really thought Carlos might snatch it- which would have been gutting for Lorenzo after all the match points.

It's been a good weekend for the young players .

Apparently, the commentator has said the strange yellow squiggle trophy is based on the trace of the last point the ball plays in the final. or something.(not explaining it very well) And they change it each year, so next years' will be based on the final point this year. So pretty unique.

Makes you wonder who came up with that

That’s a very specific trophy design! Haven’t seen either of the finals but keeping track of the scores. Shame for Matteo though after having to miss Wimbledon.

Wonder what the first trophy looked like? Also I'm thinking if someone you disliked won the previous year you have their ball trajectory as your trophy

Jane I hadn't thought of that, but yes, the trophy the year you win, really celebrates last year's winner.
This is an interesting article on the worst trophies in tennis trophies I particularly like the big blue monstrosity Foggy won in Croatian open. Actually - they are all funny- I've never really understood the Acapulco pear .
The Moselle trophy looks like something that would give you nightmares if you suffered from trypophobia.

Soem of them really can't hide how rubbish they think the trophies are- Ostapenko looks really unimpressed by whatever her runner up thing is (a ball and a net? )- I think she would rather had a tray. You can use a tray.

Matteo appears to have just got a silver tray as his runner up trophy - he doesn’t look very impressed with it on his instagram!

Yes, I think Matteo was a bit disappointed to get so far -and he seemed to have the match sewn up before Casper stepped up a gear in the second set. He was lovely in defeat in his speech, though, as ever.

The Croatian Open in Umag is this week (home of the ugly blue hat stand trophy). Carlos is a the defending champion there - maybe he wants a matching pair (I know they don't get the actual trophy, but imagine the excess baggage cost of getting it home!) .

So we’re now all going to have to pay more to watch tennis on Prime….it’s a big jump in price but I don’t want to lose the tennis!!

Got an email today Jane - from mid September it’s going up, from £7.99 to £8.99 if you pay monthly and from £79 to £95 if you pay annually. Might be different in Ireland though.

The price rise is annoying Chessie- it is worth it for the tennis.

Netflix lost a lot of customers when they put up their prices Jane I suppose with Prime you are paying for the delivery service as well (I admit, as a family, we do order a lot through Amazon).

Yes, I’ve got used to the next day delivery now! I don’t need next day delivery a lot if the time but now I’m used to it, it would be annoying not having it.
