Evening.
Not understanding how they afford their lifestyle if they're both in social care, even with the woman running her own business.

elvislives2012 · 23/06/2022 20:15

I like this family but £9k on takeaways ConfusedShock

Wolfcub · 23/06/2022 20:19

I hate cereal but if I had to eat cereal it'd be bran flakes (counts down to pending holiday with dparents where it'll be daily bran flakes)

Belledan1 · 24/06/2022 05:20

The kids had a really good varied appetite and so cute. Least they are not fussy.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 24/06/2022 07:23

The kids in last night's family were great - really enjoyed everything they ate!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/06/2022 10:33

I think the dad this week must be one of those people who is constantly fidgeting and always on the go. Given his pasty lunches and takeaway dinners and him being so slim.
Was so jealous.

Average food shop for a family of 4 - £88 per week.

How is this possible?! I must be doing something wrong

I always wonder where they get these stats from. I am not wasteful, meal plan, budget, shop at the cheap places and still spend more than what they say. Maybe they estimate based on no treats at all? Or no convenience foods at all? I don’t know but they always seem a bit unrealistic.

jay55 · 24/06/2022 15:10

Is that just for food or do they include loo roll, laundry, cleaning, toiletries etc

FlyingFlamingo · 24/06/2022 15:17

I think I spend less than £88 (it’s hard to say because I do a main shop in Tesco for around £70 plus we use a milkman for eggs, juice and milk - that varies from £8-15 and a refill shop where I probably spend £20 every 3 weeks or so, so not all in one shop) but I don’t eat meat and don’t buy much for everyone else, I don’t drink but dh buys beer occasionally for himself. I meal plan and we eat a lot of pulses and take advantage of offers. I go to Asian shops every now and again and bulk buy rice (£7 for a big sack), pulses and spices or get them from the refill shop which works out cheaper. I am lucky to live in an area with those shops available. Some of the spending on the show is insane, I find that less likely than the £88!

Wafflehouse · 24/06/2022 15:18

I wonder that too actually because obviously the program is focussed on food so probably doesn’t account for toiletries, cleaners etc. Still seems a bit low for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, drinks etc for 4 people for 7 days.

JimMorrisonsleathertrousers · 24/06/2022 15:32

It must just be food - and I notice it said prices correct as of Summer 2021 so it's probably a lot more now isn't it!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/06/2022 16:32

I would like a meal plan for a week to feed a family for 4. 2 adults. 2 kids

is that’s 2 toddlers. 2 10yr. 2 teens

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/06/2022 21:24

Oh. What thriller

blondes loves a thriller

OP posts:
newnamethanks · 30/06/2022 23:04

Oh, sorry blondes, didnt see you there. It's a 'cyber threat will bring the world to a grinding halt' thing on c4, set in, so far, GCHQ. Bit of a slow start but we'll see. The Undeclared War.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/07/2022 06:09

@newnamethanks I did see they advertised but I wasn’t sure looked that good

Anyone watch this week

OP posts:
jay55 · 15/07/2022 13:03

It wasn't listed where I am. Will check iPlayer.

BarbaraofSeville · 15/07/2022 13:10

I looked on iplayer but it wasn't there, even though I did see it in the TV section of the weekend paper.

I've just looked again and you can see the BBC schedule from 2 days ago, which now shows that it was replaced by a Panorama episode about 'The Downfall of Boris Johnson'. Mystery solved.
