Yes they were buying lots of fruit and veg - and throwing most of it out as the mum was a slave to best before dates.

When making the pie, I was surprised they weren't advised to "make one to eat now and one for the freezer". It would involve minimal extra preparation and they'd have their own "ready meal" in the freezer for whenever they fancied it. 🌹

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/05/2022 19:07

That’s a good point @Newestname002

it did look nice - I do love a pie

shame they don’t have a list of recipes they do each episode

Yes I have a feeling that's so they sell more books. They only ever put one or two up on the bbc website.

Belledan1 · 21/05/2022 16:23

I thought Jordan was good. So sad re the little boy. So sweet when he licked the bowl and made his sisters laugh.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/05/2022 09:14

Seems it is on next week as well

c&j help a family of seri snackers who love a takeaway

can they get them to enjoy the same meal and cut down on snacks and save money

well course they will save money if no takeaways. We had one last night. Chinese almost £40 🙀🙀🙀

im away on honeymoon finally lol - so will try and catch on iPlayer

@Blondeshavemorefun have a fab time!

One thing I liked on the recent episode was that most swaps seemed to come from Aldi. Usually it’s about three different supermarkets which I think would somewhat negate savings once you factor in petrol and time to traipse round them all. I’d love to see a revisited episode and find out how much the swaps and savings have been kept up.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/05/2022 19:39

Thanks @Ducksinthebath up at 2.30am Tom. Gulps

yes I love the way it’s one shop mainly now

Is it usual in UK supermarkets that almost everything is pre-packed in a load of plastic?
Literally everything seems to come packaged up with a brand slapped on.

Ducksinthebath · 24/05/2022 21:47

Yes, entirely usual. Though there are some low or no packaging stores popping up.

Stroopwaffels · 26/05/2022 20:10

The woman this week is annoying me already.

"I don't know why my children snack so much!"

Because you buy the stuff, and have cupboards full of the stuff, and don't control their access to it, you daft mare.

newnamethanks · 26/05/2022 20:12

Blimey. I'm rarely shocked but bloody hell.

toastofthetown · 26/05/2022 20:12

250 packets of crisps at home! And they had bought more. Wonder how they can cut down on snacking and food spending...

Ginajo · 26/05/2022 20:16

Im quite shocked by this. Kids don't eat meals because they spend all day eating snacks?

newnamethanks · 26/05/2022 20:17

And here's 2 tons of chocolates and biscuits as I'm worried about family history of diabetes 🙄

Stroopwaffels · 26/05/2022 20:20

It was the whole faux "I have no idea why they snack and hoe to stop them" bollocks.

Just. Stop. Buying. It.

Stroopwaffels · 26/05/2022 20:25

What rude children. Saying that their mum's homemade fishfingers are "gross". And the dad is as bad.

UglyModernWindows · 26/05/2022 20:26

The mum has T2D but eats a porridge with banana for breakfast and has a diet coke addiction. Yet claims she eats "healthy".

SeanMean · 26/05/2022 20:27

I agree. They were v rude!

It’s okay to not like something but not behave like that.

I wouldn’t have cooked those eggs!

jay55 · 26/05/2022 20:35

We know why there's been a crisp shortage in the supermarkets now.

The kids are going to be really tough to win over. I think it makes a nice change to have kids who don't like any of it. But agree they are so rude about it.

newnamethanks · 26/05/2022 20:38

I like this Bristol enterprise, what a great idea.

toastofthetown · 26/05/2022 20:38

The younger girl seems determined not to like anything. She's grimacing before she's even tasted it (though the fish fingers didn't look great).

Gaspingandleaping · 26/05/2022 21:29

Blimey what a contrast from last weeks.

Last week just needed some guidance and confidence during a really rough time.

This week are just children behaving badly with parents who are buying them junk. They won't go out and get it themselves so WHY buy 250 bags of crisps etc.
