Just watched. I am absolutely destroyed. 😭

AmyW23 · 19/05/2022 13:33

I liked the bit near the end where William said something about how if something ending is sad that it must have been pretty wonderful when it was happening. Bit of a wink to the viewers sad about TIU being over, I thought.

SickAndTiredAgain · 19/05/2022 13:40

The cranberry sauce in that dish was what Rebecca had made for thanksgiving and it got broken by one of the boys in the kitchen. It was the thanksgiving they broke down and ended up in the motel, starting the whole thanksgiving tradition thing.

The yellow towel was Jack's birthday present the day the triplets were born.

There was a ball of wool behind the bar as well, I vaguely remember that having something to do with their thanksgiving traditions.

Sorry @Tippexy I always avoid the thread until I've seen the most recent episode and I presumed most other people did the same!

ButtonMoonLoon · 19/05/2022 13:46

This thread contains a useful timeline giving people's ages at various stages- warning though....it may contain spoilers for the most recent episodes!

Pretty fair assumption! I don't look at the thread until I've watched it either.

I was disappointed Kate never got much airtime in this episode, was there a reason the actress wasn't available? It felt like the last season of Derry girls where one actress was also filming bridgerton so she wasn't in the group stuff as much.
I was disappointed in Miguel only getting a little slot on the train and also thought the original lost triplet might have made an appearance?

kimwexlerfan · 19/05/2022 14:11

Yeah I wondered why Kyle was not mentioned.
I saw pics on instagram yesterday and I thought the train thing would be cringe but thought it was well done. Probably having William as escort made it.

Having been the sibling making the call to a family member across the Atlantic to come home there is no way I would have said you're not going to make it in time.

What will next week bring?

TheGlitterati · 19/05/2022 14:46

Well, bloody hell. Now I have to go and do the school run 😭

I also thought that was a bit unnecessary. She couldn't have done anything to get there any faster

MrsTWH · 19/05/2022 15:31

I liked the episode but poor Miguel. I reckon they must have been married at least as long (if not longer!) as Rebecca and Jack.

XelaM · 19/05/2022 15:42

I thought Kyle was the kid sitting and playing in the last "door" next to the bed that she got into with Jack?

TheGlitterati · 19/05/2022 15:43

It made me wonder what the point of Miguel was. Just a filler until she does and could be with Jack again? That was sad. Like she never loved him.

TheGlitterati · 19/05/2022 15:43

Dies

Sitting next to the bed? Wasn't that Kate?

TheGlitterati · 19/05/2022 15:48

Yes, Kate.

XelaM · 19/05/2022 15:42

I didn't think that was Kate. I thought the kid looked kind of like her but not quite. I was a but confused by that part too

Doubleraspberry · 19/05/2022 16:15

No, I think the sight of young Kate was the reminder for her that she couldn't go into the caboose until Kate had arrived.

As someone who DIDN'T make it home in time to see my mother before she died, I did find that element upsetting. But on the whole I think it was hard to feel too sad about Rebecca dying; she had lived a long and mostly happy life and dementia would have meant her last years were very difficult for everyone.

SickAndTiredAgain · 19/05/2022 16:15

Oh dear, I just got a little weepy watching the trailer for the last episode, and it barely even included anything new. I blame my postnatal hormones (gave birth 8 days ago) for that!

LifeInsideMyhead · 19/05/2022 16:29

I dont think i was sad she died per se, obviously a life well lived etc, but at the cycle of life. I think this portrayed that so well, last week as well, all those little moments in life that add up to a life lived.

Matildahoney · 19/05/2022 16:31

XelaM · 19/05/2022 09:41

My heart must be made of stone, as I didn't cry once 😂but then I also never liked Titanic

You're not alone, I haven't cried at any of it!

TheGlitterati · 19/05/2022 16:43

I cry more at the themes and how I feel
similarly about doing right by my children etc, rather than loving the characters.

Doubleraspberry · 19/05/2022 17:00

I think I am too hard too, because it just felt like a nice end to me, and only tear provoking as it related to my life. Between this and Derry Girls, it's been a very Proustian week.

Yes Miguel was so unimportant to her :(
