Binged it, loved it, binged it again to Shazam all the music!!

Anyone else watched it?

Gay, geeky teen falls in love with supposedly straight, popular, rugby playing lad. Just very sweet high school drama.

I ... do find the drooling over 17 year olds a bit icky, sorry.

The actor stated on a podcast that he’d stopped going on social media due to being sexualised, and deleted a lot of pictures people had been making comments on. Similar happened to Finn Wolfhard.

Liking Nick because hes kind, thoughtful etc great, lusting over him if you’re over 20 (and you know how old he is) isn’t particularly great.

Liking the graphic novel so far, we seem to be about halfway through the series.

The drooling was meant lightly. The main attraction of the show is the innocence and sweetness of the different storylines, especially the one between Nick and Charlie. That’s what makes it so special and unique and I agree that sexualisation of the characters is not good.

I guess what I meant was, I'd love someone to look at me with that intensity and sincerity and joy - he conveyed emotions so well. I don't mean as a 40+ woman I actually want to shag him - I just love what he represents and shows us

I agree. I did find the storyline between Charlie and Nick more believable and poignant than the girls one though. I think because the characters are so likeable because they have such lovely qualities. I’ll shut up now but hope there’s a second series!

I agree. I loved this series so much and I think it was because Nick is just so nice.
He's honest, says what he thinks, doesn't play games and is just a lovely person and we all want someone treat us like that or look at us the same way he looks at Charlie.

I also loved that this series didn't have really dramatic scenarios in it like other teenage shows these days.
(I'm not at all dismissing other peoples experiences or saying they don't happen) but this felt more real to life.

I would love another season but actually like how this one finished and sometimes it ruins a show when there's more seasons.

Ahh I loved this show! It was so lovely wasn’t it.. 🥰 I really hope it gets a second series 🙏🏼 Although I must say the guy that plays Nick is one of those faces & actors that I find charming on screen but not remotely off screen .. sure he’s a lovely guy though!

But my most exciting thing.. my husband rolls his eyes at my excitement.. is that we actually live near a couple of the cast, the ones who play Charlie & Ben. Well, I’m presuming it’s probably Sebastian’s flat as I see him more. They are frequently together though. I’ve never lived near anyone even remotely famous before! When all the hype for the show appeared on my social media for the show I was like ‘oh my god, they live round the corner 😂’. I love the plot twist that the bully & the victim actually fell in love in real life, how cute. I’m here for all your gossip needs 🤣

Bloody glorious. Just everything you want for a teen series. I'm watching with my children (one is a part of the LGBTQ+ community) and we are loving it. Even my cynical daughter who hates everything her siblings like!

Absolutely this and it's my teenage self who wants that, because I only met/liked horrible boys at that age.
My actual self would not go there because ewwww, my Daughter is older than them!

Also my favourite bits from the books aren't remotely sexual, but maybe spoilery so I won't post but can you all just read the books immediately thanks 😉

Joe Locke (Charlie) is at school on the Isle of Man and finishing his A Levels, not sure where Sebastian (Ben) lives but the frequency of social media pictures of the two together has led to rumours of them dating.

Rather cute to hear that the rumours are likely true!

I won’t say exactly where we live because the show seems to have worryingly obsessive fans 🤨 but it’s London. I’ve obviously never followed either of them home but they disappear off round the corner from my flat. And they are frequently around the area, in the shops etc.

They are definitely a couple unless boys have suddenly started holding hands with their best mates .. I mean maybe, it’s a long time since I was 18!

Oh, I get what you mean - it's a really adorable storyline. I think for me it's that I would have loved to have such a nice teenage romance. I also agree with @Simonjt that my response is very much coloured by having read about the actor's depressing experience. I would imagine it must be pretty overwhelming.

Really? I went to an all girls school and knew a couple very like those two girls. Hardly anyone else knew they were together.

I thought the storyline with the girls' lacked some of the depth of the boys' one (which is fine; they're secondary characters). Is it maybe that that makes it feel less believable, rather than the circumstances?

Which actor? The one who plays Nick? That’s awful 😞

I really doubt all the 40 something women are hankering after a shag with a 17 year old (ick). It’s more about imagining oneself back there as a teen and all the memories of young love and the passion.

BiscuitLover3678 · 11/05/2022 19:53

I’m definitely not swooning over either of the kids 😨

I kept thinking how young they looked! Especially little Charlie and when he had his big number 15 badge! 😭

Made me a bit jealous that I never had anyone as a teenager though. I literally didn’t have anyone! (All girls school). Even a Ben would’ve been some useful experience.
Another thread!

I love how positive it is and how helpful it must be for sooo many kids! I love how it’s lgbt+ and yet positive! It follows the schitts creek idea that normalise it and make it not a ‘thing’ and it becomes more normal and positive in real life too.

It never occurred to me anyone was until they said so, no.

I agree it's really radical to have a LGBT show that isn't angsty and negative.

So I bought the ‘book’ on Amazon to have it downloaded on to my kindle only to find it’s just a comic! I can’t believe how much money I paid for a bloody comic.

Is there not an actual book??

It's a graphic novel. Loads of people on this thread have shared a link to where you can read them for free.

No need, you can read them online. If you want to pick up where the TV series left off, to to 4-1

Maybe you missed this.

I skim read too, so sorry if I came across as rude.

It's mostly graphic novels (first time reading one for me too, I was surprised to find i enjoyed it) but there is a regular book set a couple of years down the line when Nick is about to head off to university (it's called Nick and Charlie). You'd need to read the graphic novels first though.

What are they saying???????

I read a review about the programme earlier and the writer said that he can’t see the programme appealing to anyone over 16 years old.

It made me think of this thread 😂
