Looks looks interesting. I like seals whether house wife etx

This brand new Channel 5 series follows tenants in social housing who are looking to swap their homes across the UK.

It will show how people are changing their lives by changing their postcode.

In every episode tenants search for their ideal property, going on a series of viewings to find and hopefully agree an exchange. And with home swapping there are no estate agents, so it is down to the tenants to do the convincing and seal the deal.

It is a vital part of life for many council house tenants who bid for a better life, or simply a change in scenery, the series sets out to be a heart warming exploration into this hidden world.

Commenting on the commission, commissioning editor at Channel 5 Daniel Louw said, "Property shows can sometimes feel like ‘how the other half live’. This series takes us into an exciting but unexplored world of trading up and moving on."

Exec producer Tayte Simpson added “Now more than ever, people are taking stock and rethinking their lives, particularly when it comes to where they live. Priorities are changing, from wanting more space and moving further out, to being closer to family...or perhaps further away! Set in the world of social housing, this series provides a fresh take on the property show”

The 6x60 series was commissioned by Daniel Louw and will be executive produced by Tayte Simpson. Coco Maclehose will series produce the show which will air at 9pm.

@Offredismysister

I wonder if the curly haired woman had upset her neighbours. She came across as overly familiar, like she’d be your best mate within days, then completely turn on you.

The other couple came across as so entitled.

Yes @Offredismysister I wondered that

Seems chatty of its like we are sisters to that other woman, then chooses diff house

I've been watching this this evening and I couldn't get over how well decorated the houses were. Had they had the kitchen's done themselves as they didn't look like the kitchens my council puts in! The only one who I thought had a normal family home was the woman with 5 kids, the others had showhomes, which were lovely, but they must have spent a fortune on.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/03/2022 14:19

Yes agree didn’t look like Council kitchens

watching,i cant get over what utter snobs these women are
i know local authority are like hens teeth hut they act as if they are better than the others swapping

has anybody told them that they dont own the place they rent and will never own it

yes some of the houses are well looked after but hate the big attitude

melj1213 · 23/03/2022 21:32

I'm watching this and as a Council tenant myself I'm wondering why some of these people are being so snobbish about other people's stuff.

You're swapping the house not the stuff, so yes it's disappointing when you get somewhere and it's not the size you thought but being judgey about how someone uses their space to their advantage is just snobby

whatsthestory123 · 23/03/2022 21:43

i cant believe they take the dog on viewings so bloody rude and not needed

They're handpicked people for a telly program. People wouldn't watch if it didn't have that stuff in it Grin
ilovebrie8 · 23/03/2022 21:50

They don’t look like any council houses I’ve seen...are these housing association homes? I know they thought the rent was high at the Yeovil house but if that was a private rent it would be double that at least ...am curious how people get these homes??

PartyPlan · 23/03/2022 21:51

Lucy - wants to downsize
Also Lucy - doesn’t like that the rooms are smaller

PartyPlan · 23/03/2022 21:51

Why would you drive cross country without checking the rent on the other property Hmm

TheyCallMeJune · 23/03/2022 21:53

Lucy is an utterly entitled misery guts.

The woman last week with the curly hair was rude as fuck, and I totally agree with the poster that said she has probably fallen out with the neighbours in her current home.

JudyGemstone · 23/03/2022 21:55

I admit to having a judgey moment when the Yeovil family said about having baby no 4 and not being able to fit in the home anymore - it wasn’t compulsory to have a 4th child Blush

The couple with the overweight bulldog are rude

thinking123 · 23/03/2022 22:04

The cynical part of me feels like this is a tv show made to wind people up

PartyPlan · 23/03/2022 22:06

@thinking123 It always is. Anything on channel 5 about benefits or council housing is designed to get peoples backs up.

I don't doubt it but tbh I would rather watch a show of people like the two ladies who were looking to do a swap in London (2bed/1bed+) and seeing the differences between properties than a show full of Lucy's who seem to think that they're Lady Muck looking for a new country estate, judging everyone else's properties when they're still a social housing tenant too.

Also I wanted to shake Lucy when she kept going on about rhe work they have done to their property - I live in a HA property and it has always been made clear that any changes (beyond the scheduled bathroom/kitchen replacements every X years) are entirely at my own expense. This is why I have done nothing but paint and replace the carpets in my flat (which I needed to do before I moved in due to the state it was left in by the previous tenant) whilst I consider whether I want to spend money for upgrades on a home I don't own (even though I have a lifetime tenancy)

whatsthestory123 · 23/03/2022 22:23

The changed the lady had made to her house at the beginning of the show, changing the downstairs toilet into a pantry and dividing one of the rooms would have been against my council's rules of what you can do to a property. I wonder if the lady will get a visit from a housing officer following this.

I8toys · 24/03/2022 12:04

Urgh lady with the crutch how rude. I bet their son was cringing at their behaviour.

The Paddington flat was absolutely delightful - the lady had created a beautiful unique space and such a fab location. And she had such a lovely character unlike sour face crutch woman.

NeedleNoodle3 · 24/03/2022 13:23

I’ve watched both shows, I enjoyed them, I’m very nosey!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/03/2022 16:37

I loved Racheal’s place.
The women who kept saying how big her rooms were was entertaining.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/03/2022 16:49

lucy is a terrible snob

the belongings and clutter wont be there

look past the stuff, see the size of rooms etc

why wouldnt you use a downstairs loo

are you not allowed to partition bedrooms
