Looks looks interesting. I like seals whether house wife etx

This brand new Channel 5 series follows tenants in social housing who are looking to swap their homes across the UK.

It will show how people are changing their lives by changing their postcode.

In every episode tenants search for their ideal property, going on a series of viewings to find and hopefully agree an exchange. And with home swapping there are no estate agents, so it is down to the tenants to do the convincing and seal the deal.

It is a vital part of life for many council house tenants who bid for a better life, or simply a change in scenery, the series sets out to be a heart warming exploration into this hidden world.

Commenting on the commission, commissioning editor at Channel 5 Daniel Louw said, "Property shows can sometimes feel like ‘how the other half live’. This series takes us into an exciting but unexplored world of trading up and moving on."

Exec producer Tayte Simpson added “Now more than ever, people are taking stock and rethinking their lives, particularly when it comes to where they live. Priorities are changing, from wanting more space and moving further out, to being closer to family...or perhaps further away! Set in the world of social housing, this series provides a fresh take on the property show”

The 6x60 series was commissioned by Daniel Louw and will be executive produced by Tayte Simpson. Coco Maclehose will series produce the show which will air at 9pm.

And surely would check out the rent first

Yes £700 a month is a lot for council

But it isn’t v private rent

And yes why have another child if space is tight

Nodding at all comments. I'm guessing they found a load of people who don't work, just to perpetuate the judgeyness, as these people are often looking hundreds of miles away, none of them seem to be looking at one particular area, just anywhere with a nice house. I couldn't up sticks and move unless I had a new job to go to.

Lulu1919 · 27/03/2022 07:50

Loving this show !!

NeedleNoodle3 · 27/03/2022 09:16

I think most of them don’t actually want to move because they love their own houses too much.
I felt sorry for the family in the one bedroom flat with the up in the air bed and the cot underneath.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/03/2022 21:55

I don’t. They decided to keep having kids

One bedroom flat and have a child fair enough

But why have another 2 more and in short space of time

Did they Hope or think would get bumped up the list to a 3 bed house

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/03/2022 22:00

She said herself she just thought they'd get moved. Honestly Hmm Why on earth would you do that?

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/03/2022 12:23

Im amazed at some of these council flats in London.

Riverlee · 30/03/2022 21:58

Amazed in what way? Price? Location?

EachandEveryone · 30/03/2022 22:45

All of it. The price is a third of what I pay. Im talking mainly about the two gay men. You would never come away and go private. I wonder what they did for a living. I knew someone who had a three bedroomed terraced in Fulham which you would never have guessed was council we just dont have those kinds of council places up North. And to go to one in Covent Garden for £125 aweek its unbeleivable. I think next weeks looks alot more realistic.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 30/03/2022 22:49

@Riverlee

The price for the location. I am based in the west Midlands and I pay similar rent in a not very special location and people in London - in similar properties, were keen to swap with me 😲. The amount of people who were interested , made me think they were being priced out somehow.
whatsthestory123 · 30/03/2022 23:01

so many "artist's"

the London rent was super cheap but as single howdo they pay the rent,it does not mention if they work

EachandEveryone · 31/03/2022 07:05

I know thats what Im thinking. And how did they get a council flat in the first place? It doesnt really go into any detail.

ilovebrie8 · 31/03/2022 08:55

How do they get these places to start with? The London rents are a fraction of what they’d be privately ...it’s bizarre ...

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/03/2022 18:52

Just watching now

Why did the mum and her adult daughter live in a one bedroom house

Why wasn’t she given a 2 bed years ago

They would have got them years ago, I'm guessing, but when I lived in London in the 90's, I was practically laughed out of the housing office when I tried to apply. I was not from there originally, so had no ties to the area.
EachandEveryone · 31/03/2022 19:41

I think its something to do with housing associations not just council. My friend got one in Notting Hill which was for key workers 25 years ago in a victorian conversion. Needless to say, shes never moved😃 also she knows people who got council housing in the OXO tower right on the river. It wpuld never happen now. I dearly wish there would be a system for key workers instead its a choice of part buy and still pay massive rent or, just pay massive rent. Its so different these days.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/03/2022 22:04

Nice one actually swapped. Tho with a diff one

Admit bedroom was small near the river

Love this programme. Just confused how these single men managed to get a council/HA property.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/04/2022 07:12

I’m guessing their relationship broke down and got a place

They do need more one bedroom places so that those who had a 3 bedroom and kids grown up and moved out can downsize ans give to a family with young kid

They could have been there years when it was much easier to get a place.
orangeisthenewpuce · 02/04/2022 19:46

I'm amazed at the variety of properties owned by councils and housing associations in London. I was surprised at the Families willing to move to Paddington. I know that lots of people with children live in central London, but it's not something I'd do by choice. Love the programme though, really interesting.

2Rebecca · 02/04/2022 20:22

Just watching ep 1 and not getting why the couple with adult children want to take their adult children with them

Guy I know has a really nice one bed flat. He got it after his mother died. He was still officialky living at home in the family four bed property but didn't have the right to take over the tenancy. So the council offered him the one bed to move out.
