I finished it last night and enjoyed it, despite the massive plot holes.
RPJ in his pants was nice.
The book is 99p on Kindle atm.

I guessed Toby was dodgy but didn't realise he was connected to the woman with the creepy voice.

It's all getting really intense, daren't glance away from the screen or I'll miss something !

I think it's supposed to be a 'hiding in plain sight' idea - i.e. park bog-standard black car somewhere or other in London, no one will look twice at it and police aren't going to bother to look for the umpteenth stolen car that's been reported that day.

How do annoying-voice woman and Toby always know where Bram will be? So if the crash was staged how did they know he would be driving to Fi's? Surely only Fi could have told them that? And how did the annoying woman know he would at the bar, at the fair etc?

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/03/2022 14:55

Unless just following him /watching his movements and struck good as such

Just catching up on episode 2. In the credits RPJ is listed as “Toby/Mike” so Mike must be the name he gives Bram when he’s working with squeaky voice woman (Wendy?)

Agree there must be another layer to this, or how would Mike and Wendy know how or where to target Bram to set up the accident, and how did Wendy know to find him at the fair?

biddyboo · 09/03/2022 15:15

Yeah I don't think they could track him so effectively unless maybe Fi is actually setting the whole thing up. A woman scorned and all that...

I wonder if Steve's boss, the woman who supposedly has the hots for him, has anything to do with it? When there's a lot of focus on a character for no apparent reason, I always think there has to be more to it.

What is Bram short for, Bramley? Hmm

Yes, it is. In the book, you see 'Toby' and 'Mike' interacting separately with Fi and Bram for a while before it's revealed as a shock twist that they are the same person - but obviously that wouldn't work on TV. I was wondering how they'd do it for the series.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/03/2022 17:06

So Mike confers with brim in the book

As who

Same as what we've seen on TV - Wendy reels Bram in by seducing him and Mike/Toby pops up alongside her.
dannydyerismydad · 09/03/2022 17:25

I remember when Mumsnetters used to complain about "being Wendyed". This gives Wendying a whole new dimension.

SydneyCarton · 09/03/2022 17:33

I reckon there's two scams going on - "Mike" and Wendy are scamming Bram to get him to sell the house or they'll go to the police about the hit and run. He's been forced to do everything behind Fi's back, and Wendy has posed as Fi to sign documents (estate agent said the woman he dealt with was dark-haired and smartly dressed - Wendy in a trouser suit and some lipstick). But the real scam is by "Toby" and Fi who are screwing them both over - the "Fi Lawson" calling the estate agent about her missing money is Wendy, who's been promised a cut of the house sale proceeds for her role in it and is realising she's been double crossed.

awaynboilyurheid · 09/03/2022 17:50

Enjoying it so far, of course most of its unbelievable stuff but especially the bit where Bram goes to his mothers house (if it's in Scotland he seems to be able to teleport himself quickly) and she says "come back and I'll make you a nice salad" NO scottish mother has ever tempted her son back for a visit with a salad!! Very bad scripting that one!

the80sweregreat · 09/03/2022 17:58

I don't think his mum lives in Scotland.
I didn't get that impression , I thought she was close by!

Yes, I think she lives fairly near.

Not sure any mum would have much hope of tempting their offspring with 'a nice salad' whether Scottish or not!
