I’ve just seen this on Netflix, apparently the first 5 episodes are up and the next lot drop next week. Anyone watching? I loved the first season

OP posts:

Not a fan of the dress iyanna picked! I preferred the first one! Deepti's Indian dress is gorgeous!! Don't like any of Danielle's dresses either! Confused

ImRhondaaAndTheseArentReal · 19/02/2022 19:05

Christ, Danielle is making the cake tasting a right depressing moan fest!! She's doing my head in!

popcorn925 · 19/02/2022 19:06

Nick sweating buckets making me think it doesn't bode well...

ImRhondaaAndTheseArentReal · 19/02/2022 19:16

Episode 9 now and Danielle is starting shit again at lunch!! I hope they don't get married!!!

ImRhondaaAndTheseArentReal · 19/02/2022 19:18

And now Sal is serenading Mal on the bridge!

Cringe fest!!!!

JazzPigeon · 19/02/2022 19:34

Absolutely love Natalie's wedding dress! Mal's was nice as well.

I liked all the dresses. I loved that Iyanna had her sister in law to be there.

I really hope Nick says no. For both their sake.

Agree that Sal has to stop with the singing. I've gone right off him post Mexico. I liked him before but in the real world he comes off as really weird.

ChikaCherryCola · 19/02/2022 22:38

I loved Natalie's mum and Shayne's mum meeting one another. I've got such high hopes for them as a couple. I really disliked him at first but he's completely grown on me.

FridayiminlovewithRobertSmith · 20/02/2022 10:49

Something feels more contrived this series me (which is saying a lot for a totally contrived show Grin).

I can see Natalie and Shayne and possibly Illyana and Jarrett working, not necessarily married, but happy together given time. There is no “Lauren and Cameron” this series who seemed solid from the start and were just treating out whether they could make things work in the real world.

I think Danielle is a nicer person, and there’s something pretty off with Nick. But he should run for the hills. They both seem a little vulnerable but I think her behaviour is horrific and will really damage him I think.

Sal seems lovely and I’d love him to sing to me. I like Mal too. But they need more time if anything is going to happen - esp. her family not buying into it all.

Torn on Deeps and Shake. Really dunno.

The conversations are such set ups. Nick & Danielle go to see her family and we don't see them talk about until the following evening, which leads to a fight and then they don't talk about the fight until the next evening. Same with other Shane & Natalie, they had a row and we are supposed to believe they didn't talk until the next day when the cameras are there?!

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 20/02/2022 11:48

Anyone else notice that Danielle's wedding dress had changed?

Whilst everyone watching will be screaming at the TV for him to say 'no' I have a suspicion he will go through with it. They are so fundamentally different though and their relationship is already toxic.

Shake and Deeps - I wonder what happened to their Shane-suggested night of passion which began with the couples massage? It wasn't mentioned thereafter. I think if they could resolve that side, they'd be a good couple. If not, he'd never be able to stay faithful to his 'aunt.'

Sal and Mal - ugh. I also can't cope with the creepy singing. She played him dirty, too when talking to Jarrette.

Jarrette and Iyana - Again, not going to work. He loves his party-boy lifestyle and I think that's what'll finish them in the end. I think she is very vulnerable. Her being his second choice will always be there and for someone with her background (she spoke about how cheating was an absolute deal breaker etc) to know he loved someone and wanted them will always stick with her.

Shayne and Natalie - interesting. Again, they are fundamentally different on every level. Is it that opposites attract or, in time, will they drive each other mad? They do seem to work well together, but this is the honeymoon phase. They are the only couple who seem to have it together, but to be fair, at 6 weeks in that's not such a high bar.

And finally.

Shania and Kyle - do you think she was put in as some sort of plant? No-one could be that awful. An evolution-denying, preachy Christian who deliberately tried to sabotage someone else's relationship? And then a man who would abandon every principle he held to keep a woman he'd known for a matter of days. Mad.

Anyway, as you can probably gather, I'm hooked!!

ButtercupOfFlorin · 20/02/2022 11:51

Lots of red flags with Kyle when Shaina said she couldn’t marry him - he seemed really angry to be getting dumped

ButtercupOfFlorin · 20/02/2022 11:53

I used to live in the US and you’d be surprised how many people who are successful, smart and logical are very devout Christians but also live a very un-Christian like life. I’ve met CEO’s who deny evolution exists. Honestly the US is like another planet!

bonfireheart · 20/02/2022 12:44

This sums up for me how what we see on screen doesn't match what the couples see/feel which is why it feels so contrived....

"do you think she was put in as some sort of plant? No-one could be that awful*

There was, of course, also Trisha "I've got so many followers/friends". She was pretty bad. I'm sorry no one proposed to her because she would have made good TV!

ChikaCherryCola · 20/02/2022 13:49

I also really hate the fact that, in 2022, we still have a show where women have to wait to be proposed to by a man, desperately hoping that they'll be the one chosen. But apart from that, I really love the show Grin

@ButtercupOfFlorin yeah that made me really uncomfortable. I liked him a lot at first, he seemed really sweet and genuine, then all of a sudden we see his angry side. He clearly felt very entitled to a relationship with her.

Same! She was so annoying, but that's precisely why I would've liked to see more of her. (shows like this would be kinda dull if there were only likeable people).

I'm up to date now. Can't wait for the weddings! My predictions is that Natalie and Shane, and Danielle and Nick will get married. I agree with others that Nick should really say no, but I think he already feels too committed.

Mal, Shake, and Iyanna will say no I reckon.

hellcatspangle · 20/02/2022 17:24

Nick and Danielle are doing my head in! Is it me or in every episode do they appear to be having a fine old time, then start randomly arguing about something unrelated to what they're doing? Just had to switch off the episode I was watching as they are so bloody annoying.

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 20/02/2022 18:23

I was really looking forward to seeing more of the others. I presumed from that mad estate agent instagram woman's comments that she'd feature - and then nothing. There were also some interesting male characters.

And - despite the inclusions of body diverse types etc, no-one under that umbrella matched at all?

GastroNuisance · 20/02/2022 19:05

@bonfireheart

Really pedantic but what's with the gold glasses? They had them in the pods...in all their apartments...and then when they went dress/suit shopping...where else are these gold cups going to pop up?
Yes! I was going to post about this!

They're bloody everywhere!

Well I'm sure I read that in the previous season there were other couples who got engaged in the pods but Netflix didn't send them to Mexico or proceed with them on the show otherwise. It could be the case here as well, and more body diverse people could well have got engaged but Netflix chose which couples they wanted to take forward based on drama and looks (although imo the men on this show leave so much to be desired in the looks department...)
GastroNuisance · 20/02/2022 19:43

The parties are so cringey. Imagine talking to your friends like that. So fake.

Didn't Gigi propose to Damien in S1?
cuno · 20/02/2022 19:47

@ImRhondaaAndTheseArentReal

She did! Iirc Damien began proposing (or was clearly about to) and she cut him short then she got down on one knee and proposed herself.
