Love Is Blind season 2!

I’ve just seen this on Netflix, apparently the first 5 episodes are up and the next lot drop next week. Anyone watching? I loved the first season

for me the biggest let down was that the first episode started off by showing people of different body sizes, different ages etc but within one episode it reverted back to slim, attractive people in their late 20s/early 30s - very conventional pairings.

Where were the gay and lesbian partnerships? The age differences? I feel like despite it being "love is blind", they all chose partners that they would have likely chosen if they all met at a party

Yes, I saw the first episode and thought it was going to be much better than the first. But where did all the others go? We didn't even see them have much time (if any) in the pods.

I agree with you, but if they were going to introduce same-sex dating then it would require a whole new format, this one with men and women on either side and pods in the middle doesn't work. How would you segregate the lesbians for example so they don't see each other while they can still speed date in the pods? That's just a whole different show. And if they tried to somehow shoehorn it into this one, it would feel like an afterthought.

I think to me, it just felt that every single couple was "safe" and "expected". There were no real surprises in the couplings, but they did say that a few people got engaged who weren't invited to Mexico - maybe they were more interesting?

At the start of the reunion they said we have all the cast. I was quite excited but then it was just those who went to Mexico.

I do agree with you. I feel like there's no real diversity. I don't really relate to anyone on the show to be honest. Not just looks but personality as well, is it me or do they all seem to be social media influencer types? But then maybe that's what that kind of show attracts! However, have you seen Love is Blind Japan? I've been watching it (not finished yet) and I find it much more diverse in that respect. And you see a lot more of what goes on in the pods and I think there's more couples that go onto the next stage. It's not as dramatic as the American one but it feels more "real" if you get what I mean.

I found myself thinking the beauty of this experience would be NOT wearing fancy clothes or makeup. I could rock up in jeans, T-shirt and flip flops and be comfortable for hours on end chatting in the pods

But that's why I'm not on the show!

I think I'd just roll into the pods in my pyjamas to be honest!

I’m amazed because the feelings in the room in the reunion were palpable. People were clearly genuinely in love! Hope Shayne and Natalie can work it out

I've binged on the whole thing In a couple of nights & just watched the reunion now.
I don't like Shake but I 100% agree with him when he said Shaina accepted Kyle's proposal to prolong her time in the show. She's really toxic & should have been cut out of the show once she left Mexico.

Shake wasn't into Deepti from the get go & the scenes of her kissing him & all over him in the pool were awkward as anything. How did she not notice & bring it up?
I liked her but didn't love her.

I think Nathalie used 'humour' to avoid emotional intimacy with Shane & that made him insecure about how she really felt about him & cracks appeared. She said some really horrible things to him 'joking' but if he'd said those things to her it would have been a different story. I thought he showed more emotional maturity in Mexico by identifying what she was doing & calling her out on it than she did. Which sufpris e me. He was sweet with her parents too. And he was grieving his father which def can cause funny headspace .
Nathalie could be hard to read beneath the wise cracks. He was not solely to blame for the dynamic between them though that was the easy option for Nathalie & the narrative she wanted to continue with at the reunion & he was struggling to articulate it

Sal struck me as intelligent & perceptive. He knew Mal was not into it & he observe the interaction between her & Jarrett in Mexico & got the measure of it pretty quickly. I liked him
Mallory was a lot more outgoing / bubbly in the pods & v closed off when they came out but I think she just really wasn't into him & he sensed it
Shaina is a horrible, unselfaware, ridiculous person. Her squinting is v unattractive
I didn't really like Jarrett & iyanna they bored me & her childish voice was v irritating but they're prob Well suited

I can't stand nick & I get a weird bad vibe from him. He was REALLY sitting the pot in the beach scene in Mexico - gossiping is so unattractive trait

I worry for Danielle because he seems like a bit of a controlling arse

I much preferred season 1

I think for Shane, Natalie will always be the one that got away sadly.

Ok all caught up. My thoughts:

I am shocked by the Shane love on here! All I see is Stiffler crossed with a mega coke head! I'm so glad that girl saw his true colours and ran. I feel like hes the type of guy who would go on a binge & end up killing his missus. Him & Natalie were so incompatible anyway, shes super reserved & serious & hes a man child f**k boy. He was way more suited to Shaina, who herself is an absolute horror.

Iyanna was my favourite, I was so disappointed by her new look at the reunion, she was so beautiful & unique before. The dreads & cheap dress do nothing for her. I dont think they will last, she will always be his 2nd choice.

Nick is gay!!! Am I the only one who thinks this? Danielle has serious issues .

Deepti looked so beautiful on her wedding day. Shake was so cringe after she dumped him.

Sal & Kyle give me sinister vibes!

@Italiangreyhound I've watched all of LIB Japan now & really enjoyed it. I found the cultural approaches to marriage/ relationships fascinating especially after watching the USA & Brazilian versions. All so different.
I'm really interested in how the Japanese men & women interacted as I found it quite difficult to gauge how they were feeling about things. Their ways of expressing themselves are very different to what I'm used to.
I don't know how much you've watched so don't want to spoil anything. There's a few really sweet couples through.& I was really rooting for them!

I think Nathalie feeds on drama but I totally believe there were flirty dms.

I'm on the second episode and hating on Jessi...she's really rubbing it in Malory's face I feel. Sal was like oh she's the life and soul...no, you means she is loud AF dude. She's a wannabe actress. They def didn't need to do all those PDAs in front of Mal, that was bloody mean. Jessie has clearly been getting a bit of hate from it as Sal has posted a big defensive piece on his insta.

Shayna is annoying too, she def did more than her fair share of troublemaking on that show. But Natalie said "not text messages, just messages"....eh? does she mean like whatsapp or something...that's still messages.

I'm surprised about Nick and Danielle, I thought they were really strong! Not so surprised about Jarette and Iyanna, clearly lots of problems there they just couldn't get over.

I didn't actually pick this up though (looking for whether kyle and Deeps were still together):
"Based on the way things have played out this season, it seems that the show has a bit of a blindspot when it comes to showing what really goes on with its relationships. For example, the initial season did not show that Deepti and Kyle formed a relationship in the pods until she revealed this in the reunion, where it was also shared that Kyle had regretted not proposing to her (one of the biggest moments from the Season 2 reunion special)."

Watching episode 2 of After the Altar and TBH I’m a bit confused about the whole Sal/Mallory business. I’m not sure why they’re acting like Mallory is really pining for Sal and tThat she was jilted. From what I can recall, he massively gave her the ick from the beginning and she clearly regretted not choosing Jarette. She looked unbelievably relieved when he said no at the altar.

Sal’a new GF just so happens to be an aspiring actress hmmmm….

I also think they’re over-egging the Kyle/Deepti thing. If they actually fancied each other they’d have been ripping each other’s clothes of by now. And saying “right now I’m so happy with what we have” = I don’t fancy you
