Did anyone watch this?

I remember this awful event. The documentary last night was very interesting.

I don't understand why the neighbour said she removed a black plastic bag from billie jo's nose yet part of the defence was the blood splatter on Sion's clothes was because of exhaled bloody air - surely both cannot be correct?

Who was the woman he was seen at court with and when did he build a relationship with her if he was in prison?

Black bag in 1 nostril. Aspirated blood from the other possibly?

I wondered that as well about the bubble. The blonde lady was his second wife, I think.

LotusCheesecake · 11/02/2022 22:38

I was on the same train as the foster dad once. I realise he might have just been paranoid that people were looking at him, but I honestly hadn't noticed him until I glanced that way and he stared back in a really horrible, chilling way. Ever since then I've been sure it was him... I can't even explain how horrible it felt

drpet49 · 11/02/2022 22:46

I don’t think it was him either

Em308 · 11/02/2022 23:08

Subsequent forensic tests in recent years have identified Billie Jo’s flesh under some of the blood spots on Sions clothes, this could only be possible if the blood spots were deposited during the attack. Also flecks of metal consistent with the tent peg. He says he was close enough to her to get ‘expirated’ blood on him but no contact bloodstains from the pools of blood around her? His story, forensically, just doesn’t add up. There’s no doubt he did it.

LizzieMacQueen · 12/02/2022 00:19

Reddit is a good place for further reading.

One commentator asked whether the daughter may have hit Billie Jo with the tent peg - the daughter who was keen to take over the paint job - hitting her a devastating blow. Maybe not killing her but (and sorry this is horrid) Sion does kill her as a way of covering up the original beating / making it look like an intruder crime. But before he does he places her head in a plastic bin bag.

This all happens before picking up the girl from her music lesson.

Landlordworries · 12/02/2022 10:58

Its a bit occums Razor isn't it

I agree with some posters that there are some aspects of it which makes it seems less like it could be him.

Sidge · 12/02/2022 12:27

The whole case is bizarre. His behaviour was so odd - not staying with her when the ambulance arrived, afterwards, his coaching the girls what to say. The bucket not by the car, the plastic.

But then I would have thought he’d have a lot more blood on him than he did, and the presence of Mr B is all just confusing.

I got the impression the police investigating were confident of his guilt, and they had access to all of the evidence but it wasn’t all shown in court. Must be very frustrating for them too.

Fangdango · 12/02/2022 16:52

I just don't see any evidence that he killed her? If micro droplets of blood got in his clothes either when he moved her or if he hit her, no evidence there by the end of the three trials. Is there more to the rest of it than tabloid gossip?

I'm sure he's a damaged man now, whatever he was in 1997, so wouldn't go on how he looks etc.

GeneLovesJezebel · 12/02/2022 16:55

I thought it was him at the time, and I still think it’s him.
Anyone know if his children see him now ?

Probably hadn’t been easy as their mum moved to Tasmania not long after.

They were brought to live in Tasmania a few years after the murder, and they were told there was scientific evidence he was the murderer, so probably not. They ended up in a position where they'd be telling the court he was a murderer or their mother was a liar. Two of them were called by the defence when his conviction was quashed.
LizzieMacQueen · 12/02/2022 17:17

Another thing i read on Reddit - no idea if true - was that sion's wife went on to marry the family friend who had witnessed the earlier beating of Billie Jo, on the French holiday.

Landlordworries · 12/02/2022 17:26

There is so much false information about this online. Articles getting billie Jo's age wrong, articles saying the couple had two daughters, not 4, etc etc.

No, they were close friends but the man's story about this changed four or five times. I have read Sion Jenkins's book so suppose I can't claim an unbiased perspective, but it does make sense of lots of the contradictions I'd already noticed in press coverage. His argument is that police set out to convince his family and friends he was guilty to get them to brief / bear witness against him. I found it quite convincing.
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/02/2022 00:33

@sadpapercourtesan

That fucker is as guilty as a puppy sitting next to a pile of shit.

He's utterly, boringly text-book abuser material. He uses violence and intimidation to control the women and girls in his life, he's a grandiose liar who has spent his life taking what he wanted and lying his way to the top, he lost his temper and beat that child to death because she dared to say no to him....and when he's cornered, his reaction is to whimper and plead victimhood.

So depressingly fucking predictable. Of course he killed her.

If it quacks like a duck...
CailleachGranda · 13/02/2022 01:12

It just struck me that poor girl was let down by everyone.

Landlordworries · 13/02/2022 04:34

I've found myself wondering what Billie-Jo was really like. The picture we've had painted of her by the press all seem to state how happy and cheerful she was, and how she had an enthusiasm for life-I wonder if that's completely true given all she'd been through.

Yes Her family were all outraged and made a good show of being outraged in Court but she was living with someone else for a reason. I appreciate that people can have difficulties that are no fault of their own that may lead to then unable to be parents for a while but usually SS try to place children within the family. So there must have been very good reasons why nobody within that family could have Billie Jo live with them
Toddlerteaplease · 13/02/2022 12:23

@Hoppinggreen and she was also quite along way from home as well. So would have had to change schools and leave her friends behind.

Glitterygreen · 13/02/2022 12:29

I watched this yesterday.

It does seem unlikely that Sion walked back into the house and managed to immediately murder Billie-Jo in such a violent manner within 2 or 3 minutes. And then get back in the car with no visible traces of blood at all?!

But his behaviour afterwards did seem really odd and he clearly had a history of violence against his family.

He seems the most likely perpetrator to me but it just defies belief how he could physically do it during that time period.

Hellocatshome · 13/02/2022 12:34

Is there a reason why he couldn't have done it earlier in the morning before they left to pick the other daughter up?
