BBC 2 8pm tonight (feb 1st) Tom Kerridge is one of the new judges.

Can't wait to see some soil and steam and shoehorned themes.

I don’t like this chicken dish at all

jay55 · 08/03/2022 20:32

A bit of a fail round.

Yeah

blueirises · 08/03/2022 20:35

Where have I seen Liz before? Was she on Masterchef?

jay55 · 08/03/2022 20:36

Masterchef 2016, she cried.

Well remembered, jay55. I never remember who's even won all these things after about a week!

jay55 · 08/03/2022 20:46

To be fair it did say the year on the show tonight.

watching on a delay & struggling to see the link to the brief with the chicken tikka dish

littlbrowndog · 08/03/2022 20:48

So far so dull. Maybe main courses will give us joy and fun

littlbrowndog · 08/03/2022 20:49

Oh that’s better

lettingthedaysgoby · 08/03/2022 20:50

Please subtitle all the time or not at all (I don't need them, I can understand him fine)

jay55 · 08/03/2022 20:52

Totally agree on the subtitles.

Fish courses haven't been great all series I don't think. I love lobster. But it's been so faffed with today.

Thers also been a lot of black coloured food this season

littlbrowndog · 08/03/2022 20:55

I think Bobby to go home

jay55 · 08/03/2022 20:57

A week to prepare. Wow! No wonder his dishes were not on brief.

clpsmum · 08/03/2022 21:20

@jay55 thank you so much xx

EsmaCannonball · 08/03/2022 21:57

Love Michael O'Hare as the returning judge. Thought he was looking quite muted (you know, for him).

Butterflies was an great inspiration for a dish but, to connect to the brief, it needed to look like a disaster and taste brilliant.

Again, a lot of the connections were pushing it more than Salt 'n' Pepa. There's so much decadent food in Brideshead Revisited and none of it contains chilli and lime.

Hallelujah2020 · 08/03/2022 21:58

Totally agree re subtitles

Could understand him all the time and just annoying for all to not do it and then do it

Admire him hugely for his treatment and work regime!!

iklboo · 08/03/2022 23:21

That was all a bit...meh. Like me after a night on the town - I was looking for the briefs. Grin. Very tenuous. The props & food didn't really 'shout' the link. Hopefully mains & dessert will be better.

Poor Bobby only having a week to prep. And, yes. I didn't need subtitles myself, but they should have been consistent one way or the other.

I'll be watching tonight's on catchup, as it's design masters clash (sort it out bbc, seriously).
