BBC 2 8pm tonight (feb 1st) Tom Kerridge is one of the new judges.

Can't wait to see some soil and steam and shoehorned themes.

Some tenuous connections to the BBC. Maybe swap Pride & Prejudice for The Duchess of Duke Street, and the connection to Victorian London banquets suddenly makes sense. I can imagine Louisa Trotter serving this meal to Edward VII at the Bentinck Hotel.

Must admit for such an easy brief their seems to be a lot of shoving the chefs preferred dish into any old show.

@Newestname002

I'm loving Andi as the presenter this series - and it looks like she's having a great time. She's an inspired choice, both from the viewer's standpoint and the chefs'.

Can't say the same thing for Anita Dobson as the guest judge though: I found her really irritating, over-picky and over particular.

Spencer was wonderful and I'm hoping he gets a dish at the banquet. 🌹

Totally agree. Andi makes this series for me. She's a lovely people person and so kind, fun and positive.

The choice of Anita Dobson annoyed me no end. Why pick a judge who won't eat half the food and seemed to view everything on her plate with deep suspicion? I hated watching her eat in that bird like way, instead of eating with real enjoyment.

If Spencer doesn't get at least one dish to the banquet I will be very disappointed. He was amazing.

Completely agree with previous posters. Anita Dobson irritated me no end. I'm not keen on the new comedian judge either. I just don't find him funny 😳. He always seems to be trying too hard but maybe he'll settle into the role.

I do like the new female judge, Nisha and unlike some of you, I like Tom Kerridge. I might be a little biased as we ate at Hand and Flowers years ago and he was such a lovely guy, really friendly and invited us into the kitchen and spent ages chatting at the end of service.

catwithflowers · 28/02/2022 16:15

Loved Spencer and his food though. He really deserved to go through.

jay55 · 28/02/2022 22:17

I like the comedian, he seems to really enjoy eating. I think he's there because the other two are crap at getting the celebs to talk.

I loved Spencer. Once his nerves settled he was really nice and has a lovely smile.

Evening
Hope the Scottish chefs have some fun ideas, though I'm already a bit grrrrr at Hogmanay live being inspiration for a dish.

lettingthedaysgoby · 01/03/2022 20:23

Loving the low food miles local caviar...

Baked potato

littlbrowndog · 01/03/2022 20:29

Nothing marvellous this round

LunaLoveFood · 01/03/2022 20:29

If the chef has to ask if you think its cooked enough the answer is probably no.

jay55 · 01/03/2022 20:29

I've always wanted a wheelbarrow of gravy.

OP posts:
littlbrowndog · 01/03/2022 20:31

I would tip over that gravy wheelbarrow

jay55 · 01/03/2022 20:34

I do like the bigger difference in the scores. Quite a lot someone has a 7 or 8 with bad comments (and no relation to the brief).

I never been to any of Stuart’s restaurants. It might be they are too dear but would like to go

lettingthedaysgoby · 01/03/2022 20:38

The lad who claimed to have lost out as he hadn't linked to the brief when he was on before so had researched his dishes carefully needn't have bothered, really....

littlbrowndog · 01/03/2022 20:39

Turnip purree. Well that’s a Tuesday dish

Turnip mash

Ah, I'll let him off - apparently there is a caviar farm on Loch Fyne. With Russian sturgeon.
littlbrowndog · 01/03/2022 20:43

There is a wee farm doing the sturgeon

littlbrowndog · 01/03/2022 20:44

No no raw turnip. 😣😣
