was really disappointed they didn't show more of belize. i wanted to come over all homesick and i didn't get the chance.

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/02/2008 16:38

is it really humid there ? they were very sweaty

dizzydixies · 27/02/2008 21:01

did anyone watch it tonight
I felt really proud of them all
think am swaying towards James a bit though

Oenophile · 27/02/2008 21:05

Yes I felt quite tearful at James' good reception from the chefs - he seems to wear his heart on his face and looks so anxious at times. I'd definitely like him to win.

dizzydixies · 27/02/2008 21:11

oenophile me too - have just found another thread on the food site where they're talking about it too!!

emily is lovely but always seems to need some help and am just not sure about johnny

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 27/02/2008 21:18

James all the way here.

Have only dipped in and out, so was unware of the Johhny profesional single dad routine, or is that just the voice over annoying person.

Emily did not even have the manners to shake the hands of the people at the top of the table as she left the room.

I was unaware that James was lucky enough to have parents who are in a position to see that he ends up in a job he really wants.

Seems to nice to be a barrister. IMO.

cookbook · 27/02/2008 21:52

Am I the only person who thinks its terrible that they couldn't get ONE female michelin stared chef round the table tonight to judge. Especially considering you've got a really talented young female chef competing! But even if you hadn't it's still bad.

Grrr, and I love usually!

Maidamess · 27/02/2008 22:28

Did anyone see that clip last night when they were catering for the cast and crew of 'Waterloo Road' and Johnny was in the background decanting about 10 tonnes of potatoes into a pan and they were rolling everywhere, all over the worktop and floor. Really made me laugh.

Me and dd (12) think James will win. I liked Emily a lot to begin with but the 'quirkiness' is wearing a little thin now.

Also, why were all the female guests at the wedding at Blenheim Palace wearing full length frocks? Have you ever worn one to a wedding?

Pass the fois gras, darling.....

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/02/2008 22:42

maidamess - yes, I saw those potatoes yesterday !

cookbook - I was surprised they didn't have Angela Hartnett as one of the chefs...and it was very touching how James reacted to the very fulsome praise. Marcus Wareing has lovely eyes btw.

I went right off Jonny when he bossed Sheridan around in the first semi-finak test. Emily's needed help too many times...it has to be James. Loved it tonight when they said give up the day job. He really looks like a celeb chef too.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/02/2008 23:03

Just the annoying voiceover person saying that Bree, so don't hold it against him!

I can't see how anyone except James can win it tbh. Emily is too disorganised, and Johnny too rough around the edges (though sure he will do well with his own brasserie). James has been the most consistent, shown the most leadership, and produced many of the best dishes.

Emily could maybe be a future Masterchef, but needs more training and experience first.

DaDaDa · 27/02/2008 23:12

It's got to be James hasn't it? I like Johnny but he comes on screen and you kind of expect to hear oompah Tuba music on the soundtrack.

Who would actually have liked to eat that blokes menu tonight? Hmm, Foie gras surprise for the starter (surprise being: it's all foie gras.) Fish covered in thick brown gloop. Fiddly diddly nonsense dessert. Nein danke. I'd rather have some wobbly chips in butter!

Joash · 27/02/2008 23:18

I agree that James will probably win - but WHY DOES HE KEEP WIPING HIS NOSE ON HIS HAND AND THEN TOUCHING THE FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ara · 27/02/2008 23:21

likewise dadada! we think the wedding was staged and might have been a marketing ploy by blenheim palace.....bride and groom didn't talk to each other once in the clips and looked totally incongruous!!

ara · 27/02/2008 23:21

joash - there's a lot of eating off the spoons he's using to stir the food with too!

Joash · 27/02/2008 23:27

I noticed that too - but have an aversion to people handling food and not making sure their hands are clean, so that sticks in my mind most. I thought that people were supposed to wear gloves to handle food anyway?

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2008 09:16

doesn't foie gras look gross ?

OP posts:
aDad · 28/02/2008 09:24

that's because it is gross of course.

James should win I think. He has been consistently the best right from the start. I wanted to dislike him when i saw him (ex-barrister, presumed he was an arrogant idiot) but he's come across pretty well to me.

aDad · 28/02/2008 09:26

Johnnie simply aint good enough, and Emily with a few more years and more experience to plug the gaps in her knowledge could probably do anything she wanted within food.

cremolafoam · 28/02/2008 09:27

no jonny to win.
emily off to oxford
james will get job with Michel Roux

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2008 09:39

nah, James has it - plus agree with aDad, he seems a nice, not arrogant bloke

OP posts:
beansprout · 28/02/2008 09:41

James will win, deffo.

RTKangaDYSONMummy · 28/02/2008 09:57

I think the wedding was staged too

And wipe your nose on your hand and then handle food ~~~~ YUCKKKKKKKKKKK

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2008 15:42

what will I do when it's all over ?

OP posts:
Showmeheaven · 28/02/2008 16:24

I also noticed a lot of the time they don't wear chef hats - whats that all about ? Emily fringe is constantly hanging down her face ..... surely thats not hygenic.

Did you see James crying last night, bless. I want him to win now
