I keep hearing rumours but can't see anything set in stone. Does anyone know when the new series of PB starts?

I loved the Alfie scene. I don't think it was a dream. He mentioned that he was now the boss of half of Camden Town, which was the bribe Tommy gave him to come back from the dead.

I think Alfie said he was running half of Boston now, which explains a lot when you think about it. Tommy had been planning for Alfie to take over operations in Boston, he said so to Gina. If Alfie had taken over Boston while Jack was away, it would be easy for him to find out who the mole was and tell Tommy.

I think they left some characters like Arthur a bit open ended as there is still a lot of uncertainty about the movie. I thought Conrad Khan was great as Duke. I hope he plays a big role in the movie.

@Nowmum43

I loved the last episode. I wonder if Tommy will go back to his family or take this as an opportunity to start a whole new life!
I don't think he'll go back to Lizzie at the very least - taking the ring off was symbolic. They'll be much happier apart!
LadyTwinkle · 04/04/2022 10:51

I'm glad I wasn't the only one confused by the Finn, Billy, Duke situation. I took it that Finn panicked thinking he too was going to be killed, and that's why he shot at them. It was almost like he was set up to fail. I always felt like Tommy wasn't comfortable with Finn being involved with the Peaky Blinders anyway and it was just an excuse to protect him in a strange way.

woodhill · 04/04/2022 10:54

Felt a bit sorry for Billy with beard as what else would anyone do if someone is hurting you like that or maybe I missed. Something

Could Arthur not find a decent barber

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 04/04/2022 11:12

I felt sorry for Billy too 😑
Ha yes Arthur's hair was ridiculous 😂

woodhill · 04/04/2022 11:14

Perhaps he could have told Arthur what had happened at bathhouse or would it still be his fault somehow Confused

woodhill · 04/04/2022 11:17

Paul Anderson looks great in real life, those severe taches and shaved heads did them no favours plus very formal clothes. No trackies or jeans

TottersBlankly · 04/04/2022 11:19

Epic, certainly!

The doctor’s accent bothered me when he first appeared. But really, there’s no way Tommy wouldn’t have sought his own second opinion on the diagnosis - so it seemed a weak link, plot-wise.

Love the Alfie theory! Much more dignified than having him as a king pin who only ever sees one other person. (Am wondering, impertinently, if TH had to be extra careful about Covid during filming.)

So many interesting open ends for the film. Finn and Duke and angry little Charles. And Gina … Does she have any traction without Michael? Probably not. I’m glad most of the wider clan survived - they were so loyal. But if the film moves down a generation I can’t see much place for them in any new story. Maybe they’ll get to decorate the set and doff their caps to Duke once in a while.

How I do still miss Polly …

Nicely wrapped up though. Bravo to all the creators.

Billy had been an informant for quite a while. So I suspect they had worked out who was passing on information long before based on who knew what. Wasn’t it Billy who revealed the Mosley plan in the previous series leading to it going wrong (being vague for those who may not have seen it).

biddyboo · 04/04/2022 11:51

They knew there was an informer, so I guess they just worked it out. The way Billy kept asking questions about the party would have been a red flag. Tommy seemed pretty contemptuous of him by that point. And when looking at when information had been leaked previously, they could have worked it out through a process of elimination.

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 04/04/2022 11:57

They already knew it was Billy though at the point he was asking questions, they'd already made the plans for Arthur to be at the pub, laying the trap.

NowNowDermot · 04/04/2022 12:24

DH thinks Finn and Billy were lovers, that's why Finn sided with him over the family.

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 04/04/2022 12:32

That occurred to me too tbh.

Thymeout · 04/04/2022 13:29

@TigerLilyTail

Yes - Boston, not Camden Town. I'm getting confused with the wedding and the elephants!

Helen's illness and death must have led to a huge amount of rewriting and actors like Tom Hardy might have had other commitments to slot in so it's not surprising that he only appeared with Cillian on his own. I think the drama was all the better for the two-handers.

TigerLilyTail · 04/04/2022 13:37

Tommy said to Duke that Finn had been sleeping around with all the local girls before he got married. Billy said that his wife had left him and he had the clap, so I think the implication is that he was also partying with local girls.

Tommy had the black cat dream in season 5. The same episode that Billy first appeared in. Billy was Irish, so it's possible he had some family tie to the IRA.

Many people have commented that Finn has been largely absent in season 6. I think this was done deliberately to show that Finn was on the outskirts of the family. He was no longer trusted, which means Tommy worked out that Billy was the traitor soon after the Mosely plot failed and he worked out that Finn was the one who let slip the information.

Tommy wanted to use Billy's status as informant but kept the family's main secrets by keeping Finn away from the centre of the family's business. They suspected that if Finn was made to choose between his mate Billy and his family, they he would choose Billy, and he did.

CorneliusVetch · 04/04/2022 13:39

I absolutely loved the moment when the IRA woman started to say “Vengeance is for the lord” and Arthur shot her and said “Not in small health it ain’t”!

She looked like an 'allo allo" extra

Does anyone else agree with my theory on Alfie Solomons though? I think he’s been dead for years, as he said.
No one else ever sees him, it’s always odd scenes with just him and Tommy talking, and he’s had no impact on the story. I think he’s dead (he was dying in series 4) and Tommy talks to him in his head.

That crossed my mind too

Binglebong · 04/04/2022 15:39

Didn't a couple of blokes show Tommy in when he first saw him this series? They warned him about not smoking which he ignored.

DoctorTwo · 04/04/2022 16:00

Aye woodhill, I half expected her to say 'listen very carefully, I shall say this only once'.

Thymeout · 04/04/2022 16:37

Alfie did affect the plot because he stopped the Irish taking over the whole of Boston. Can't remember details but the Irish were making a move on North Boston which was in the hands of, I think, the Italian mafia. Alfie made an offer they couldn't refuse so Tommy had an ally for his opium market. The Jewish mafia were big players in American organised crime.

I loved the scene after the reenactment of WW1 where Arthur and his two comrades were sitting on the steps and Charlie? interrupted them. Arthur just said, v politely, 'Could you leave us, please. We're not back from the War yet.' They were just sitting there, in silence, remembering.

The quality of the writing is extraordinary.

LadyTwinkle · 04/04/2022 17:16

What do people think about Finn being ousted from the Peaky Blinders? Do you think he deserved it?

SmellyOldOwls · 04/04/2022 17:23

Tell you what, the last couple of series would have been much better if John was still in them.

woodhill · 04/04/2022 17:46

Was Finn, Polly's son?
