I love this show. It's very sweet, and very funny. My favourite character is the captain, because he's HOT. Also love Fanny and how outraged she gets at everything

I often see my DH off shouting “GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT” in my best Mary voice. Love this!

I think one of my favourite episodes is the one with the burglary where Mike is alone with the ghosts. So many great moments.

Oh, I love the burglar episode with the "2o" f them! Nearly died laughing. What an absolutely thoughtless bastard Julian is! (Actually, all of them are splendidly egotistical at times, except Pat, though he's no drip!)

My favourite episode was series 2, with all the unreliable narrators in the Thomas Thorne Affair. Robin's rendering of Thomas's poetry was hilarious, and so clever.

All of them. Another family of ‘moonah stonah!’, ‘bum and chips’ and ‘donkah donkah’ catchphrases, although “steady the buffs, Fanny!” echoes round the house at least three times a day.

Love all the characters. We had friends over yesterday and introduced them to it. Friend's DH was cracking up at Robin, and said that he could really relate to him.

It's a brilliant ensemble, mind.

Love all of them. The Captain, Mary and Robin are favourites. The only character that grates is Mike. Just cant warm to him

Though I know someone who's worked with Matt Baynton and he is apparently an absolute delight. Apparently they all are.

We were discussing this at lunch today! My favourite is Pat. He is just lovely.

A few weeks ago we had a visitor to work who was called Robin and my boss and I were half expecting him to be a hairy caveman. He actually wasn’t, but ever since he came in, the lights haven’t worked properly. Coincidence? I think not …

@IamEarthymama I loved you me and the apocalypse. The only time I've ever found a nun/priest storyline hot! It did help the priest was Rob Lowe.....

I think Pat and Kitty and Alison. Alison is quite adorable really. She's lost her parents very young but has found a loving and equal marriage. I find it very sweet that she and Mike really get each other. She is very kind to all the Ghosts, respects and values them and does things to make them happy.

My favourite episode is the wedding one, it makes me have a little happy blub.

Pat - he’s by far the nicest of them all and just lovely.

Also Alison. She was on Taskmaster (as herself) and was exactly the same.

Thomas can be great too - agree the Thomas Thorne affair was genius.

Not understanding all the love for Kitty - I find her really quite one dimensional with the giggling and wanting to be Alison’s best friend - that’s basically it.

@dementedma I agree, Mike is not a believable character when they make him play dumb, I also don't think the actor is that good.

Love Mary, we end using a lot of her one-liners around the house 'I smells the burnings' (if something is burning).
"All the water's turned to clouds" (when cooking).
"Oh he survived the night" when the baby came to sleepover! She's just brilliant!

Yup, also a big fan of YMATA. Rewatched it before xmas. Far better than Don’t Look Up.

I really liked Nicholas in the Christmas episode. I hope they bring him back in series 4 as the chef for their functions.

It's good that there isn't a breakout character and it's a real ensemble piece.

So glad they are doing another one. I watched a trailer for the American one, it’s exactly the same. Right down to the scout leader with an arrow through his neck & politician with no trousers on.

There is an earlier, similar, Australian series called spirited which some of you may enjoy.

There is a MNetter who bumped into Jim Howick dog walking (ages ago), she told him how much we enjoyed the first series. I’d chew his ear off!

I can't wait to tell DS that there will be a series 4. We got him into it over Christmas and he loves it.

My favourite is Pat. Like a pp, I cry every time we watch the episode about his death day (DS rewatches things a lot), but Mary gets quoted a lot. I got called a fancy flapjack when I insisted we sit at the table dinner.

Mary is my favourite I think, though like many others it changes daily.
It's amazing how many quotes can be used in everyday life- "That's French" is weirdly versatile!! 👻

Question about Kitty... is the implication she was adopted by her parents (hence the sister bullying her) or was she an illegitimate love child?

I assumed she was a half sister (so not the father's) but could be either scenario I suppose.
