Oh no, that's not good, Jane.

Ds is fed up- he is now missing driving lessons, which had been massively delayed as it was. He had booked a test that will have to be cancelled. He's a bit down this morning- everytime he seems to be turning a corner something else goes wrong. Sad.

It's raining really heavily here, which is odd after the frost yesterday. The dog is unimpressed.Grin

JaneJeffer · 19/01/2022 08:44

That's hard on him. DS1 got his driving lessons cancelled by lockdown and then of course there was a massive backlog for tests and he didn't pass first time but got there eventually. Looking back on the last couple of years everything seems unreal somehow like a weird dream. It's been so hard on that age group especially.

Pedro lost the second set tiebreak.

I'm finally back- and see that Hubi lost, that's a bit of a blow to him.

Good result for Mannarino though.
I'm hoping the Zverev match will be shown- the Osaka match has just ended, so I suppose it will be on there.

TottiePlantagenet · 19/01/2022 11:08

@MajesticWhine thanks for that! It just seemed so unusual for "booing" to be allowed. I don't follow football at all, barely know who Ronaldo is Blush

Hope your DS feels better soon @RaahhFlowers, the last 2 years have been tough and I'm not sure things are getting much better any time soon unfortunately.

Mama1980 · 19/01/2022 11:15

Millman is trying really hard here but I think Sasha has this - I'm watching between trying to tidy the house, my dp has been away for 2 days on a course and the house is a disaster lol.

I hope your ds feels better soon raahh

Raahh · 19/01/2022 11:26

Thanks everyone !

He has surfaced to get something to eat- it's hurting a bit this morning. Got to go back to the hospital tomorrow for another x-ray and the proper cast.

When I broke my wrist, 16 years ago, I have no idea what I did, but it was so bad I ended having surgery and a plate put in it. I was 5 months pg at the time. Hopefully, his recovery will be more straightforward!

I also think Sascha will win this comfortably- I was hoping Millman would give him more of a match- he keeps trying to get into the match, but it's not really happening. I'm just trying to avoid doing anything Grin.

It is the lovely Stefan Edberg's birthday today Cake.
Happy Birthday to him.

Monfils seems to have his 'playing' head on, against Bublik.

kazzaD66 · 19/01/2022 12:35

Happy birthday to the delectable Stefan! GrinCake

Fizzywinegum · 19/01/2022 13:13

I know it’s not a popular view on here but I was never a Stefan fan (probably something to do with him beating Lendl at some point!)

He does seem like a very nice chap though so hope he has a happy birthday

Sorry to hear about your DS Raahh - hope he has a speedy recovery

I’m hoping that having got rid of Djok and Prince Andrew we can go for a hat trick by getting rid of Boris (PM Boris not our Boris) - not sure if that would help things but it would make me feel better

I wonder if Rafa will get a night match soon? I’m sure most of his matches last year were also in the day (Oz time). Oh well as long as he’s winning I suppose it’s ok but it would be nice to see him and his pink kit

Fizzywinegum · 19/01/2022 13:15

Also has anyone seen the KIA advert with Rafa? Even though he’s speaking English it’s subtitled - poor Rafa - surely his Rafa ese isn’t that difficult to understand!

Raahh · 19/01/2022 14:28

Poor Rafa and his subtitles Grin.
It's definitely time he got a night match.

He plays Khachanov next- he's never lost to him, but it could still be a decent match.

The Kyrgios/Daniil match is the first night match on Laver tomorrow, not surprisingly. I really dislike watching Kyrgios- but if Daniil can beat him, it will be worth it. Halep is scheduled for after it. I feel like I haven't seen her play for ages- I really like Simona.

Fizzywinegum · 19/01/2022 21:39

Hopefully Daniil will beat Kyrgios tomorrow

I’ve just been listening to the Tennis Podcast and they seem very impressed with Rafa.
Catherine Whittaker compared him playing in the sunshine to being like Free Willy when he was freed into the ocean Grin

Apparently he likes playing in the afternoon but I’m hoping that his next match will be a night one so that I can see him - although Khachanov could be a tough opponent

Lots of Brit interest tonight and in the morning with Dan, Heather, Andy and Emma all playing

TottiePlantagenet · 19/01/2022 23:11

Caught up on Zverev v Millman, my goodness they both hit hard.

Zverev's shorts are a bit of an eyesore, I thought he'd had an accident period leak Hmm

But then I saw what Broady had been wearing...

Raahh · 20/01/2022 07:04

Had a rubbish night's sleep, so did a bit of score watching- was disappointed to see Garbine lost, before I got the chance to actually watch her.
Dan Evans benefited from a walkover.

Very happy to see that Cilic won his match- always glad to see Marin win- he was playing Norbert Gombos (who still has one of the best namesGrin).
He plays Rublev next, though.

I will probably end up falling asleep watching the matches this morning Grin.

Raahh · 20/01/2022 07:07

2 matches that I thought might go the distance- Fritz/Tiafoe, RBA/ Kohlshreiber, (who can be a bit of a fighter in the draw) ended in a very one sided win for RBA - which is nice for him. Pretty straightforward straight sets win for Fritz too.

Raahh · 20/01/2022 07:08

Oh- and (last one,honestGrin)- Schwartzman is out Sad which is a shame.

Raahh · 20/01/2022 08:24

Very tight match between Felix AA and Davidovich Fokina. Felix has just won- but it was so close. 7-6 6-7 7-6 7-6! Grin

I like ADF- Spanish tennis looks like it will be in good hands with the likes of Alcaraz, Martinez, ADF, when (heaven forbid Grin) Rafa - and Feli ever retire. And RBA/PCB are still doing ok.

Raahh · 20/01/2022 09:14

I'm not impressed that the Medvedev match isn't being shown- looks quite tight as well in the first set- just gone to a tie break.

Never thought i'd miss Prime Hmm

ChessieFL · 20/01/2022 09:39

I’ve just been flipping between Emma and Andy’s matches, while trying to do some work at the same time, which means I’ve kept track of the scores but not really been watching them properly. Shame about Andy, let’s hope Emma wins this second set.

Raahh · 20/01/2022 09:42

Maybe now the Murray match has finished, they will put the Daniil match on. Taro Daniel seems like a very nice bloke.

Raducanu is having problems with her hand(?) apparently?

ChessieFL · 20/01/2022 10:02

Yes, she had treatment for blisters on her hand during the first set.

Raahh · 20/01/2022 10:06

Chessie I had to go out- so I missed what the problem was, but I heard Sam saying she was having trouble hitting through with her hand.

Oh lovely. Dick is arguing with the umpire.

Raahh · 20/01/2022 10:31
Hmm

They just said Dick is 'box office'.

He's won a game- don't get ahead of yourselves.

I really can't stand Kyrgios Grin.

ChessieFL · 20/01/2022 11:12

Emma lost Sad

Raahh · 20/01/2022 11:12

I've has to come our to the hospital again with ds- but it looks like Daniil has the match sorted now.
