It really was an odd match- very up and down.

I think the first set shocked both of them, and Emma let Sloane back in in the second.

Raahh · 18/01/2022 12:57

I missed the butterfly GrinJane

(I also missed the Masked Singer over the weekend, and only caught up via the thread- I saw that Bagpipes was Pat Cash- after there were guesses at first it might actually have been ACGrin).

Fizzywinegum · 18/01/2022 12:59

Well done Emma - glad that my prediction of her losing in the first round was wrong!

JaneJeffer · 18/01/2022 13:02

Jonathan said he would eat the bagpipe outfit if it was John McEnroe so that's something to look forward to Grin

I can't believe how many people thought Mac was of Scottish descent though 🇮🇪Grin

Grin

Well, I always forget how much of the morning the Australian open can take up (though RG and Wimbledon take up all of my day[grin).

Fizzywinegum · 18/01/2022 13:26

My 8 yo niece told me that Pat Cash was bagpipes on the Masked Singer - she had no idea who he was (but neither did my 22 yo DS! Grin)

kazzaD66 · 18/01/2022 15:29

Very envious of all of you watching the tennis! Score watching only, for me unfortunately. And that wastes enough time Grin

Well done to the Brits who made the second round. Shame about Liam. I was hoping his outfit would blind Dick Grin

JaneJeffer · 18/01/2022 16:13

I'm an expert at wasting time kazza. Let me know if you need any tips Grin

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 18/01/2022 17:35

Thanks Jane but unfortunately I can waste time without any help Grin
It's got even worse the last year or so, since DS passed his driving test and no longer needs the services of Kazza's Taxis to take him to school. I'm usually just up and about to have breakfast when he leaves! I didn't get dressed until 11am this morning BlushGrin

F* knows what I do in the morning or where the time goes Grin

kazzaD66 · 18/01/2022 17:43

Glad I wasn't able to see Broady's match. I've just seen that not only did Dick serve underarm and did a few tweeners, he also did a tweener serve. Plus, dropped the f bomb in his on court interview and glugged a spectator's beer on the way out Hmm

JaneJeffer · 18/01/2022 17:51

Oh God I don't think I am going to be able to watch any of his matches Angry

When DS2 was leaving this morning I said goodnight to him. That's how good I am in the morning.

Liam's outfit Shock

Raahh · 18/01/2022 17:57

I am really hoping that Daniil utterly demolishes Kyrgios. if anyone can tune out a partisan Aussie crowd, and use it to his advantage, I think Medvedev can.

JaneJeffer · 18/01/2022 18:01

Daniil will thrive on it Raahh

Tennis question on Pointless, men's champions between Fred Perry and Andy Murray. I decided to go for Goran and it was pointless. Go me Grin

JaneJeffer · 18/01/2022 18:03

It looks like a bus seat cover @Cookerhood

OP posts:
Raahh · 18/01/2022 18:06

Jane I love tennis questions on Pointless. Sergi Bruguera is usually my go-to tennis answer, and normally pointless. And Jan Kodes. Grin.

As time has gone on, I have found more obvious, recent, ones tend to be Pointless though- and that just makes me feel old Grin.

Raahh · 18/01/2022 18:08

bus seat cover

it does!

It's as bad as the Nike floral outfit that Kyle Edmund wore- the year of the Bees and Skeletons.

I think Kyle always looks like he's drawn the kit- short straw though Grin.

Cookerhood · 18/01/2022 18:20

Definitely bus seat cover!
DH & I like to imagine the conversations between the sponsors & their agents. You want him to wear what??They must be so relieved when Wimbledon comes along & it has to be white!

kazzaD66 · 18/01/2022 19:24

Wimbledon is my favourite tournament for many reasons. One of which is the white dress code Grin

MajesticWhine · 18/01/2022 22:35

Sorry I'm a secret Kyrgios fan. When he's good he's so very good. I didn't manage to watch any of his match though. I think Daniil will win easily against him be honest. He's too flaky mentally.

TottiePlantagenet · 18/01/2022 22:53

Just watching the highlights of Murray's match (I can only do this after the event, his matches are too tight and tense for me Grin).

Why are crowds booing? Who are they booing and why goes the umpire allow it?!

Looking forward to more Rafa 💪

MajesticWhine · 18/01/2022 23:41

@TottiePlantagenet
I saw this explanation in the times :
Murray’s efforts against Basilashvili yesterday were greatly appreciated by the crowd of about 5,000 people, although some television viewers were left confused when it sounded as though some were booing him. It was, in fact, a group of young spectators mimicking the trademark “Siu” celebration of the Manchester United footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
"It was incredibly irritating" Murray said with a wry smile.

Raahh · 19/01/2022 07:42

Rafa won- so that's ok. Grin
I only caught the end, was straight forward enough- Rafa looks good in his kit Grin.

Shapo had a bit of a scare in his match- long 5 setter.

The Zverev match could be a good one later- Millman is a fighter- and memories of his match against Federer, and the match points he lost might spur him on.

The Mannarino/Hurkacz match is underway, and that could potentially be a long one too.

Now got to spend ages doing school runs, and checking up on off spring with broken limbs before I can watch anything. Grin

JaneJeffer · 19/01/2022 08:10

Hope your DS is ok Raahh

I'm keeping an eye on Pedro's scores. Looks like it's going to one set all. I'm really tired, slept badly and seem to have hay fever this morning.
