I was looking forward to this until I read today that it is only streaming on HBO????
Is it likely to be available anywhere else afterwards?

In that case, they were total hypocrites weren't they?

PinkWaferBiscuit · 01/01/2022 15:19

They were all very respectful of JKR and noted her brilliance

Isn't it funny that when they are on camera discussing their success which is solely linked to her work that they are nothing nice about her... Call me cynical but it would be more believable if they hadn't spent the last few years discrediting and trying to cancel her. Hmm

storkstalk · 01/01/2022 15:22

Also refusing to watch due to JKR being excluded. Absurd. Sexist. Terrifying.

This sums up my feelings absolutely.
MaryAndHerNet · 01/01/2022 15:33

Won't watch it.
Same as I wouldn't watch a LoTr documentary that doesn't mention Tolkien.

Undecicive · 01/01/2022 15:39

I will not watch it.

BlueShirtGuy · 01/01/2022 15:43

I'm sure I've seen the icon for it on Sky. We've got HBO and I won't watch it because of those offensive bastards.

Thecazelets · 01/01/2022 15:50

Not watching it either. I find I can't bring myself to watch anything with those backstabbing wee ingrates in it any more

I so totally agree!

BeyondMyWits · 01/01/2022 16:00

I'll be watching it. If I refused to watch stuff because of other people's opinions of the people they've worked alongside, my life would be an emptier place.

I loathe cheating lying bastards, but still watch bake-off. (And just about every TV show ever) so I'm a hypocrite or whatever, who really cares.

LuckyAmy1986 · 01/01/2022 16:15

Love HP but won't be watching. Cant stand the main three now

LadyCatStark · 01/01/2022 16:44

We have watched it and JK does feature and she is mentioned a lot, so while I thought about not watching it, it’s not actually true to say that she isn’t in it.

middleager · 01/01/2022 16:48

Boycotting as I am opposed to the regressive and oppressive 'right think' regime that has resulted in the JKR witch hunt.

Did they sit her down for an interview? Was she there with all the other cast at the get together?
NoraEphronsTurkeyNeck · 01/01/2022 16:56

@ProfessorSillyStuff

Another that won't be watching here, I like the idea of sending love to Jk though! I always loved Harry Potter, but I couldn't enjoy a screen version where the main characters are played by actors who I know to be willfully ignorant and privileged at best, and spineless snivelling turncoats at worst. The fact that their transgressions are such a personal attack against my personal main shero and role model, a woman who both made them and saved and improved countless lives with hard work and charitable donations, is obviously beyond unforgivable and only serves to illuminate the truly mind bending depths of their idiotic conformity and inability to even percieve of the level of intellect required to execute the kind of masterful plays they must have been privy to in working alongside the woman swiftly catapulting herself toward becoming the most prolific author of all time and never compromising on her vision, her ethics, her sheer dignity... Fuck them.
👏👏
Glassisalwaysgreener · 01/01/2022 17:10

I love HP but will not be watching as I cannot bear to watch or listen to the main three spoiled entitled treacherous brats, in this or anything else. I actively avoid anything with them in it - little women and now you see me are two I would normally watch but have chosen not to because of them.

Dumbledoresgirl · 01/01/2022 22:18

I watched it and really enjoyed it, but then I just like things at face value and haven't really been aware of whatever the actors have said or done re JKR. She did feature anyway, but in old interviews, and she was credited with what she created. But it was more a focus on the making of the films and the obvious love between many of the participants was deeply touching. A lovely tribute to the films, rather than the books.

Mol1628 · 01/01/2022 22:28

I watched it and enjoyed it. It was well done I thought. And interesting. It didn’t feel self congratulatory.

I love JKR! And she was featured and mentioned so it wasn’t as if she was written out.

The tribute to actors that have since passed away was also lovely.

LondonWolf · 01/01/2022 22:37

I love HP - books & movies. However the movies were good because of the base material and the supporting adult actors - Alan Rickman, Robbie Coltrane, Maggie Smith et al. The child stars weren’t particularly good and the movies were watchable despite them not because of them. I’ve no interest in watching any of them relate their amusing little anecdotes and blow smoke up each other’s arses - EW in particular is so affected as to unwatchable, even before her disgusting sell out.

Scottishnewbie2022 · 01/01/2022 22:47

Hold on … is it not an actual film?

Waitwhat23 · 01/01/2022 22:49

@LondonWolf we've been watching the Potter films over the last few days and the first two in particular are almost unwatchable due to the 'stage school' vibe from the kids and the affected language used 'would you be so kind to tell me...'. The change in director for the 3rd film makes the kids much more like actual kids - a good example being when the Gryfindor boys are having a laugh in their dorm, trying out special effect sweets. I completely agree with you that the adult actors (particularly Dame Maggie Smith) are the best part of those movies and the films can hold a candle to the books.

Waitwhat23 · 01/01/2022 22:49

can't hold a candle to the books

Devilmakes3 · 01/01/2022 22:51

Won’t watch it. JKR is a hero of mine.

AlwaysAWoman · 01/01/2022 23:01

JKR is my hero. I love HP but was so angry with the main three backstabbing little fuckers I honestly can't watch anything with them in.

Absolutely sums up my view on this. The three main actors were the weakest links in the films. I remember having read the books going to the cinema to see the newly released film and being distinctly underwhelmed with DR, EW and to a lesser extent, RG. The films were absolutely a success due to the content, created by JKR and and not due to their involvement, and definitely not their acting!
AlwaysAWoman · 01/01/2022 23:04

Have any of the actors publicly supported JKR? I truly hope if MS and JW are absent they are making a point
