@GoodPrincessWenceslas to be fair when we adopted her 13 years ago the medical advisor couldn't tell us if there would be any long term issues - just that generally babies born drug dependant tend to do less well at school. But this was based on children who stay in the environment they were born into.
What wasn't known is what happens when you take a child out of that environment and place them in an adoptive family.
Our daughter has been assessed by an Ed Psych and although she found issues with processing information she said DD was streets ahead of other children born drug dependant who had stayed within their birth families.
You would not know if you met DD that there are any issues. She's just a bottom set kid rather than a top set one. She is expected to get level 4s in English and Maths and maybe level 5/6 in history and music. Languages and sciences are a no no!
She's just a lovely, funny and kind girl ( when she's not having a hormonal teenage strop!)
