Yes it's as ridiculous as ever but it's pure escapism, the clothes are fab and Gabriel is gorgeous!

Just what I need at this time of year Grin

God Gabriel is beautiful!

CovidCorvid · 23/12/2021 20:55

@doadeer

God Gabriel is beautiful!
He’s the spitting image of my personal trainer, they could be twins!
JustLikeaJingleBell · 23/12/2021 21:02

Utter crap but I also enjoyed the first series

KillingMeDeftly · 23/12/2021 23:12

@doadeer

God Gabriel is beautiful!
He reminds me of a guy I was once seeing. Sigh...

Loved this first time round

Will binge watch series 2 after Christmas- it's tosh but lovely tosh - It's worth it for Gabriel alone

doadeer · 24/12/2021 09:04

I work in marketing for US and French companies. So funny.

Was cringing towards the end of the series won't do any spoilers.

Pinkstegosaurus · 24/12/2021 10:46

@doadeer how accurate is the ‘it’s illegal to work on the weekend in France’ thing?

doadeer · 24/12/2021 11:03

I found it late morning starts (usually get into office at 9.30am) and late finishes 6.30pm minimum. I did get emails at the weekend!

doadeer · 24/12/2021 11:09

Oh and muuuuuch more smokers in the Paris office than the US and London offices.

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 26/12/2021 22:58

This was a new one to me. I have just spent Christmas on my own due to covid and this programme literally got me through all of yesterday and half of today. I just inexplicably loved it and immediately googled if there was going to be a series 3. Yes it's bad and the acting / stereotyping is absolutely awful but yet so addictive. Plus I actually really got to like some of the characters.

Gabriel is mesmerising isn't it? I found myself believing that he is a chef and runs that restaurant. Alfie.. goodness could they have found anyone more clichéd as a city boy?

Absolutely brilliant!

I'm shocked at how thin the actress is this season. And they keep putting her in tiny tight dresses and midriff showing tops. It honestly seems irresponsible, she looks unwell.

I hope she gets some help.

Other than that I'm enjoying it.

Must admit I did think that a few times. She’s very slim.
lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 27/12/2021 00:01

Yes - having watched the 2 series back to back I really noticed it too. It's such a shame when the 2nd series of something that was successful comes along and everyone tries to be a better / skinnier version of themselves whereas nothing needed changing!
Yes the midriff tops and also the wide Chunky berets showed she was significantly smaller Confused

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 27/12/2021 00:02

Not berets! Belts

HelloBunny · 27/12/2021 00:09

Lily Collins has spoken about her eating disorder (in the past now) so it’s worrying to see her so slim now.

Love the show, I’ll be tuning in!

DifferentHair · 27/12/2021 01:24

I don't blame lily collins at all. I think badly of the show for glamourising that body type and putting it on display through the costuming. They could have dressed her differently so she still looked fantastic but without her stick thin figure being so in focus.

It's irresponsible for young women watching, other people in eating disorder recovery.

It could have been handled in a much more sensitive way.

Mooserp · 27/12/2021 10:03

I thought she was just naturally tiny, I hope she isn't ill.

There is some truly awful acting, although the woman who plays Sylvie is good.

BellaChagall · 27/12/2021 10:56

When they had the dinner party out in the street for Emily's birthday I actually gasped at how thin Lily Collins was. Very concerning and putting her in tiny skimpy dresses made it even more obvious.

KillingMeDeftly · 27/12/2021 11:13

It's not just Lily Collins, even the actress playing Sylvie looks thinner than she was last season. And she was very slim to begin with! She's great though - steals the show along with Luc and Julien. I loved her "how dare you" when the delivery guy asked if she was Emily!

The actor who plays Alfie is shockingly bad, really stilted.
doadeer · 27/12/2021 11:57

Agree lily's arms are what I noticed - so tiny

gettingto · 27/12/2021 12:12

I'm really enjoying it! So many attractive men too

gettingto · 27/12/2021 12:13

But I did notice Lily's looked tiny, particularly her waist c
