I’m three episodes in, and I’m like “meh”
Not very funny and depressing…
Hate all the “box ticking “ it’s overtaking the show
Charlottes daughter can’t just be a tom boy ( which in itself would be funny ) she has to be -whatever they were saying? Transgender?
3 min “comedy sketch” about being Bi….?
Charlotte and Stanford don’t like each other?
Big wanking ..( eew)
Steve just going “eh? What?”
Carrie totally ignoring Charlottes warning about Miranda’s drinking?
Miranda’s Prof saying she was a White Saviour when trying to point out to the guard he was being unreasonable?
Everyone mentioning their age every scene?
Why would Carrie be putting herself through the embarrassment of a vulgar podcast when she’s clearly retired writing and married to a millionaire?

I’m debating whether to just imagine them, all running home from the desert where my imagination left left after SATC2 …

A tomboy would be unrealistic because there are no tomboy nowadays. Its all gender identity in the schools. That's just the reality.

TangledUp789 · 21/12/2021 21:07

I do enjoy it, yes. It helps that I’m not in the 90% of watchers who think a) Carrie is a horrible selfish human being (I think she’s amazing) and are b) completely obsessed with Samantha (she’s only my third favourite, after Carrie and Miranda).

It obviously doesn’t compare to Sex And The City, which was an iconic show. I would like all the new characters to disappear and I miss Carrie’s voiceover. Miranda and Charlotte’s storylines have been bad so far and I hate the podcast (Carrie should be hosting a successful podcast of her own). Despite all that, I’m really happy to see all the cast (minus Kim) back together again. I really didn’t think it would happen after the last movie was axed.

I’m not one of those people who think a show should be axed as soon as it’s even slightly past it’s peak. Even if this show is only 25% as good as SATC I’ll happily take it.

mclaw · 21/12/2021 21:11

I like it, if they didn't do the wokeness there would be so much criticism so they can't really win.

mclaw · 21/12/2021 21:13

I did think they were side eying the wokeness as it was so obvious but maybe not.

mclaw · 21/12/2021 21:14

Agree, I'm happy with the familiar faces.

MerryBumpmas · 21/12/2021 21:16

It’s really cringy. All your points are spot on & made me laugh Grin

I’m 28.. was obsessed with SATC as a teen had the box set & watched it hundreds of times. I will watch this but meh. I’m not really enjoying it, no.

TheRemotePart · 21/12/2021 21:16

@mclaw true, but have Miranda just look shocked / eyeroll when the student says “ assuming gender?”
I actually thought Anthony’s reaction to Charlotte daughter was the most real : uch don’t stress she’ll be what she’ll be …”
And Brady’s saying “ we won’t be sex shamed” was missed opportunity for hilarity

Charlottes pal at the school is fine ( so far?)
Miranda waffling on for a third time was not needed.

Well, it got Chris Noth cancelled so there's that.

maa32 · 21/12/2021 21:21

They've completely ruined SATC's legacy for me

TheRemotePart · 21/12/2021 21:22

@StucklnAChimneyCantGetOutOflt yeah I wonder why this is all coming out now? Not like he only ever did SATC?
Oh well, no flashbacks for you, Mr Big …

3 min “comedy sketch” about being Bi….?

I feel like the actor shoehorned this into their contract. Or comedian, whatever they are. I hate that un-funny brand of comedy which is more like a political statement or some sort of one-sided debate.

The wokeness. I am still not sure if the show is woke or they are just portraying the omnipresent wokeness that exists in reality. I enjoyed Antony’s thoughts on the matter, there was some balance there 😂

Overall I find it shite but I will still watch all of it.

AnnieSnap · 21/12/2021 21:36

I love it. I’m 61 and it’s great to see glamorous women wearing great clothes who are just a few years younger than me for a change. As for the faux pas’ they make re the ‘woke’ stuff, I think that all makes sense. Up to a year or two ago, I considered myself woke, but now to be woke, we have to embrace a parallel universe 🤷‍♀️

Benjispruce5 · 21/12/2021 21:39

I’m enjoy it. Only discovered it on Sunday and watched all 3. Just really nice to revisit the characters and I’m glad Samantha is gone, I was always a bit of a prude when it came to her ‘adventures’ Blush. It’s just nice to have those characters back but older. I was 30 and now I’m 50 so it’s a like visiting old friends. Charlotte looks great.

Benjispruce5 · 21/12/2021 21:47

Btw I’ll be pissed if if they keep hammering the woke aspect it I guess they have to acknowledge a new agenda and how they navigate their way in a changed society. But I’d did find the podcast scenes a bit cringey. Anyone else mad that Carrie didn’t dial 911 as soon as she found Big?

hamstersarse · 21/12/2021 21:48

I do like the clothes 😬

AnnieSnap · 21/12/2021 21:48

I don’t get the impression that they are “all pretending to be woke”, more like they are all trying not to cause offence in one way or another.
Charlotte trying to handle her daughter’s declaration of not being a girl, perfectly. That is scary for any parent.
Miranda returning to Uni, desperately wanting to do well and finding her assumptions cause offence (mostly because the world has gone batshit).
Carrie wanting to keep going in the media and finding that she either buys into the batshit stuff or she’ll end up out on her arse.

DebbieHarrysCheekbones · 21/12/2021 21:49

I loved SATC
This is just awful.

This sums up how I feel too. I'm really enjoying it!
mclaw · 22/12/2021 00:06

I definitely thought the podcast with the woke button pressed after a gag to caveat no offence to etc & Carrie's reaction to it was inferring how ridiculous it was but maybe that's just how interpreted it!

OLDnightmare · 22/12/2021 00:28

I’m a die hard fan of SATC and enjoyed the first movie. But I found the second film horrendous. And just like that is truly shocking. I can’t face it anymore. It’s not even the woke stuff - although it could have been handled much better. It’s just painful and cringeworthy and not true to the original show or characters in the slightest. Poor Miranda.

DeclareThePenniesOnYourEyes · 22/12/2021 00:30

By the end of episode 3 I did want to watch more. Felt like a little of the old magic was back.

YenniferOfVengaBus · 22/12/2021 00:36

Yes, I enjoy it.

Sonex · 22/12/2021 00:46

Individual Mt mind it actually, except the NB comedian being shoehorned in at every opportunity. I find that cringy and desperate to try and be relevant. I am enjoying seeing 55 y old women portrayed on TV as being pretty much like they were in their thirties and forties, normally we're old crones by then.

Cheeeeislifenow · 22/12/2021 00:52

The sly digs at Samantha, are petty and irritating. Sam's character would never have ditched Carrie over work.
Nonsense.

DifferentHair · 22/12/2021 01:14

It's problematic, vacuous and the characters are nitwits. Just like it always was.

I'm enjoying it. It's shiny and colourful. I like the clothes and seeing what choices the writers are making (even when I don't like those choices).

It's fine.
