Did anyone find the doctor neighbour like a kid actor trying to remember his lines? I found it really distracting!!

Yes! He was so unnatural!

Tegelflughafen · 16/07/2022 11:31

Tbh I found the new episodes a bit boring, just not as good as the others. The actors somehow don't seem as comfortable with each other as they did before.

Yesit was really odd! Strange voice too.

I can do without Cathy and Colin but Christine is comedy gold.

The doctor actor was in Detectorists and the character was almost the same so maybe that’s his style. I love Gordon and wish he’d had more time in this series (binged all on iPlayer)

Playplayaway · 18/07/2022 13:29

Yes the doctor was really odd and it was like he was doing a basic read through for timing. I'm wondering if he was bought in last minute due to covid.

For me, Beth, Colin, Christine and Alan are the best characters.

Uyhmo · 18/07/2022 17:36

Yeah Christine is brilliant. Also think Colin. Alan and Gordon are really good

Uyhmo · 18/07/2022 17:37

I think it was just supposed to be the doctors character? A bit awkward meeting the neighbours kind of vibe

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 18/07/2022 17:42

I find Gordon super-duper irritating.

Maireas · 18/07/2022 18:10

Christine is an excellent character. A woman from the West of Scotland, who's not had an easy life, and takes no shite. Aln is brilliant.
Are the new medical couple regulars? I thought she was rude about the doughnuts!

mcallister · 18/07/2022 20:56

I love Christine. Brilliant acting and writing. She is my Glaswegian granny and her sisters and my mum all rolled into one. I miss their humour. Brilliant observational comedy. When Beth was ill and she talked about the soup made with 'the good ham bone' it could have been my mum talking!

I loved it when she was going on about how Morrisons did "a good paracetamol". That and the ham bone are classic Christine 😂

I've binged it all again including the new series. I miss it now!
Gorden is great. The guy who plays him Kieran Hodgson is so talented with impressions. His "The Crown" ones are amazing.

I know. Bloody hilarious

I loved the doctors episode I think they seemed very realistic in a moved to Glasgow to have a better quality of life way without fully realising the cultural shock that was in store for them.

When the regulars plied them with takeaway menus and embarrassing ailments - was so funny. The pious wife who the regulars didn't recognise as the higher status of the two as a consultant- they didn't even see that she was a doctor! Then she couldn't help herself showing off about her proposed extension and the ecolodge holiday at Fort William which impressed noone but that was also fabulously funny.

Such amazing observational humour.

Just wonder/ hope we see them again. In all I just think its a fantastic representation of a slice of Scotland esp suburbia that doesn't usually get depicted and I agree folk that get thrown together and rub along together by pure geography is a rich seam for comedy!!

TheMess · 24/07/2022 18:00

You know how it is - you holiday in a fabulous ecolodge in the Highlands, smell the wild mountain thyme, decide you must move to Scotland stat ... and then find yourself living in a Glasgow suburb next to Christine. Brew

PriamFarrl · 24/07/2022 18:26

One of the many things I like about the series is the totally realistic interior decor. They are all right for the couple and just like normal houses.

Changedmynamefor · 25/07/2022 21:14

I feel I can finally discuss my biggest issue with Two Doors Down here - I grew up in Central Scotland and so a lot of my friends lived in those Wimpey semi’s in the 70s and 80s and no way are they as big as they are in the show! I get that it’s tv and it’s not real, but it still drives me nuts! The living rooms were about half the size😂😂😂😂

MadisonAvenue · 25/07/2022 22:32

The pious wife who the regulars didn't recognise as the higher status of the two as a consultant- they didn't even see that she was a doctor!

I understood that differently, in that she was a consultant in an advisory capacity rather than a doctor. I think when they were assuming she hadn’t got the grades to be a doctor she said something like she hadn’t wanted to go down that road.

Yes she did say that

justamushypea · 26/07/2022 15:28

I only watch it for Christine, she is fabulous. She is my Nan reincarnated (although my Nan swore a lot more!).

The outdoor scenes are being filmed this week and next for series 6. Might pop up for a wee look 😊
