Anyone planning on watching?

Sunday at 9pm......gonna be my new Angela Black.🙈

I must be a glutton for punishment....it's even got the same actor in it (Ed the 'private investigator')

I thought the series as a whole was too drawn out and should have been condensed into 2 episodes.

The main male actor was superb, I recognised him from Angela Black.

Loved the dual ending.

absolutelynotfabulous · 14/12/2021 09:13

In retrospect, I found the whole thing tedious and struggled to stay engaged with it. I knew there would be an ambiguous ending so expected that to be somewhat wtf.

My summary would be: decent acting, obviously not for me, but plenty of people seemed to enjoy it so I'm clearly missing something. Grin.

LadyEloise1 · 14/12/2021 09:13

A bit like Showtrial - you choose your ending. Did she do it ?
Is he found guilty ?
I prefer my endings chosen for me - a definite conclusion.

covetingthepreciousthings · 14/12/2021 10:31

@LadyEloise1

What did you think of the ending ?
I'll probably be in the minority with this, but I actually liked the "choose your own" ending. I think it leaves it open for a potential sequel too. I liked that it was only 4 episodes, and not the usual BBC 6.
covetingthepreciousthings · 14/12/2021 10:31

If you were on the jury would you have found him Guilty or Not guilty?!

dannydyerismydad · 14/12/2021 11:13

I really enjoyed it. I found it tense and exciting, and an uncomfortable watch in places.

The cast were incredible.

I liked the ending also. Whatever the ending would be a poor outcome for one family or the other. I liked that it showed both sides. I liked also that it showed the humanity of all the characters in a very dark world. Lots of young men (and women) from good homes, with potential getting sucked into something bigger than them and just trying to survive.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 14/12/2021 11:33

I hated the ending.
I like to know exactly what happened.
I would have found him not guilty because I clocked from the start that someone looked very very uncomfortable in the court room & thought what are they hiding?
Are we allowed to discuss this fully now all episodes have been shown?

absolutelynotfabulous · 14/12/2021 11:59

I think I would have found him not guilty as I would not have been convinced beyond reasonable doubt that he did it.

If he WAS guilty, I think he would have made a better job of covering his tracks. IMHO he would certainly not have been in possession of the murder weapon wrapped in a teatowel. I think there would have been enough reasonable doubt to suggest that someone else was responsible even if there was no evidence to point towards that person.

covetingthepreciousthings · 14/12/2021 12:56

Yes I think so..

zafferana · 14/12/2021 13:02

@covetingthepreciousthings

If you were on the jury would you have found him Guilty or Not guilty?!
I'd have found him not guilty, because I don't think that the prosecution proved, beyond reasonable doubt, and in light of what he said in his defence, that he was guilty. He gave a plausible alternative scenario, IMO, so if I'd been on the jury I wouldn't have been able to convict him with a clear conscience.

I can see why the ending pissed some people off, but I thought it was good in showing that whatever the outcome one family would've been devastated and not got justice.

dannydyerismydad · 14/12/2021 14:38

It's hard to say how I would have judged him if sitting on the jury.

Watching the series the viewer builds a rapport with Hero. You see his devotion to his mother and sister. His love and tenderness to Kyra. His willingness to do the right thing, even if that means making some dodgy choices.

But in the court room, with forensic evidence, with a grieving family wanting justice for their dead son. In a room of other jurors who will all sit and debate the evidence. I don't know.

purpleme12 · 19/12/2021 00:05

I was really dissapointed with it

DixieSun · 19/12/2021 00:29

He would have been done anyway for joint venture Surely?

SnickettyLemon · 19/12/2021 20:29

@absolutelynotfabulous

Where have I seen the Jamil actor before? Loved his massive duvet coat.
Sorry a little late to the party as I binge watched the whole series today. The actor who played Jamil was in 'Informer ' which was another BBC drama from a few years ago. I so wished they had made a second series of that.
sleepyhoglet · 20/12/2021 17:14

Bored. Wish I hadn't bothered

LadyEloise1 · 20/12/2021 17:57

I hate this "Knit your own ending".

workshy44 · 20/12/2021 19:32

I thought the ending was a travesty- to take us on a 4 hour journey with zero conclusion. Such a waste of what was otherwise a great story and fabulous acting. These writers are too clever for their own good.

purpleme12 · 20/12/2021 20:20

not a fan of the ending either!

Loveinacoldishclimate · 20/12/2021 22:18

Controversial. I loved the ending.

@SnickettyLemon oooooh I didn’t realise that about Jamil. I loved Informer and think it was massively underrated.

Xmasbaby11 · 23/12/2021 00:01

I enjoyed the first episode or two but then it got convoluted and I didn't like the ending. The main character was too dominant in it and I thought he was a fool sacrificing his life for others. I thought he should have accepted Kyra had left him, and got on with his life. It was always going to end badly getting mixed up in that would.

god i thought this too! about him being a fool sacrificing his life for others! thought i was the only one!
stuckinarut21 · 23/12/2021 12:31

Loved this! Had me gripped throughout. A few slow moments but as the others have said, incredible acting

Cherrypie32 · 01/01/2022 00:59

Isolating so just watched this and was hooked. Hero, the actor, is mesmerising which I think led me to want him to be not guilty even if he was. So, I made my own happy ending. Totally recommend if you’ve got some Covid related time in your hands.

CircusSands · 01/01/2022 20:16

I thought it was brilliant, till the ending which made me wish I hadn't bothered watching any of it.

TurquoiseDress · 04/01/2022 22:32

I've just watched this recently- Jamil's great big duvet coat! Grin

Could have done with that today, freezing weather!
